I know the budget is tight and uniforms are probably the last thing that the school wants to spend money on.But i have to say its pretty embarrassing to see kids have to wear there own shorts for games or the tops of the uniforms look like there falling apart or from 1980.It does not cost much for matching black shorts.Their are a lot of other schools out there to that have budget restrictions but you always see that they have good uniforms. They don't have to be expensive ones just get them something decent that matches and something that looks nice to represent our school.

There havent been many uniform upgrades in several years. I think the wrestling team got new warm-ups but if I recall it was from a donation from an outside business and not from the school budget.

I played sports in the 90's, and we wore uniforms that were purchased in the early 1970's. There's nothing new to this.

That said, there's nothing wrong with the kids doing a little fundraising if they want to look flashier.

Two years ago I spent $85 on a new uniform for my son to play varsity baseball. They were very nice shirts...button down with his last name on the back. The kids loved them. The team wore their own white baseball pants on the bottom. They looked sharp out there on the field. I didn't have much of a problem with buying it (even though the school should supply team uniforms) because it was personalized with his name and we were told they would use these uniforms in future years. Now I find out that the team will be wearing the old baseball uniforms instead of these nice ones because (and I've heard 2 reasons)....1) there are kids whose parents can't afford to purchase these new uniforms and 2)they didn't have enough time to order the uniforms for new kids on the team. Not sure which of these excuses is correct but either one doesn't fly with me. First, if a student can't afford a uniform...don't the boosters help out with the cost? Second, what do you mean you didn't have enough time? These kids have been practicing since the beginning of the month and their first game isn't until the beginning of April. That was pleanty of time. Again the kids suffer because of poor planning.

It's not the uniform that puts the ball In the goal or the ball in the end zone...the uniform doesn't make a majority of the teams go .500 At best. I'm not knocking the kids this is more directed to you idiots that are blaming the uniforms for the kids being "picked on"

Actually the kids are getting picked on and its ridiculous we have a beautiful school that other teams pull up to then you go inside and we are wearing mix match uniforms from 1970.Maybe this would give our kids some confidence with some new uniforms!!Even ask the parents for 5.00 if you have to!

They will spent $$$ for new books every year, because they invent another way to make 2+2=4. when I went to school we used the same books for 10 to 15 years.

If the kids want new uniforms, they should fund raise. With a lack of funds for up-to-date textbooks and other learning essentials, uniforms just are not important..sorry. I for one know that some sports -- like swimming, the girls have to buy their own $75 suits, $10 goggles, etc.. I know there are a lot of kids in the district that really cant afford such expenses. That's why I think all teams should raise the money themselves

Fund raise huh? Who is going to get hit up? All the thriving local businesses? How about the tax payers as they have extra cash for frozen pizza and crappy candles right? Get real.

Hey Mr Boon Joe, you must be in with our school super Hubman, give me a break give the kids some decent uniforms. Fundraising is a great idea atleast the kids don't have the aditude you do. The kids are the ones that have to pay not you. The school could afford to put some money in, how about the boosters? The school wants the kids to look and act good in school and this is what they get. Maybe we should make Mr Hubmand and the school adm. stitches pandt and 20 yr old shirts to school, see how long that last.Thre school wants the team to act like a "TEAM" then for godsake dress them like a team

It's been this way forever. When I was in school the cheerleaders had to buy special sneakers that were $60 (and we are talking in the 80's), the volleyball teams wore screen printed long sleeved T-shirts.

The school buys new books every year because the curriculums and requirements of the State change with the wind. The teachers even complain about it. I think that buying new books for 100% of the students is a little more important than buying uniforms for 50% of the students. In our district we are extremely lucky to have sports buses. Most districts do not have that at all and it is a huge expense. I agree it is necessary to have these buses to provide all of the students in the district with the same opportunity to play sports. New uniforms are not quite the same thing.

As far as our athletes being teased by other teams about their uniforms well that's just ridiculous. Has anyone ever heard of trash talk before? If it wasn't the uniforms they were making fun of to try to psych the ACS players out then it would be something else. Why don't we just teach our kids to not let it get to them?

Unreal....another Hubman lover. I agree books are the most important things. But why your missing the whole point. Some of us parents could have found another place for 85$ I'm sure, But for our kids we make it happen, now because SOME parents made it happen for their kids those kids suffer and WE parents are out 85$!!! Why because the scool didn't live up to their side of the bargin. We buy them with the understanding that they will be used for more than 1yr. Again I say why can't the boosters help out some of the families on the QT if they need it. I don't and I'm sure other parents dwouldn't have a problem with it. 85$ is hard to come bye now days so if you need help you need help. But why should the ones that forked out the money and players that have NICE jerseys be penalized? It's like everything else it comes down to poltics...... if it was something the Big Adminastration wanted it would be done without blinking an eye. I'm sure if they paid 85$ for 1 yr they would be saying the samething Try to to out kids not to let it get to them????? Yeah ok, let me know how that works out for you in life!

lol clearly you have no imagination, there are countless ways to raise money. Sponsoring events (like donkey basketball) is one great way to do it.

Really? I own a business and get hit up two times a week for this and that. I own the property where my business sits and as a result pay school taxes. I also have two children involved in school sports so know exactly what the concern is. Fundraising is crap. How about the parents pay an activity fee if their kid wants to play a sport? Hit the parents of these all stars and not everyone else. Get real with your crappy posts and if you are going to post something you should do it correctly. "At least" is two words. Try "attitude". The guy's name is "Hubman" which you spelled correctly once then obliterated later. I can only assume "pandt" is supposed to be "pants". You should know "godsake" is not a word. Perhaps you meant "gods sake"? I have a better idea. Instead of trolling around on here take an English class somewhere. Your spelling and lack of sentence structure is terrible. Have fun selling candy bars and brownies with your fundraisers.

Mr. Boon Joe, I hope your business is doing better than your attitude is? Because I for one wouldnot want to do any business with anyone like yourself! The people are just trying to stick up for the players. I am also a parent of a ACS varsity baseball player and I cannot believe the whole thing. I don't think it is right that both players {or parents} should have to pay for the jerseys and now be told they can't wear them. I am sorry your such an ass and I think funderaisers are a great way to make the cash. If you DONOT want to be involved because you are so important and to busy to be bothered then DON'T GET INVOLVED. I hope your alittle more supportive with your family and business then you supporting "our" kids and trying to keep them involved in something other than hanging on the streets.

You have new coaches with new ideas. Isn't that what you parents wanted? The school didn't order those jerseys for the players . The old coach ordered them and paid for them then collected the money from the players. I know for a fact that he also bought jerseys himself last year for some players who couldn't afford them. I know this because my son was one that he bought one for thank you coach
