And to the teacher in Patchogue... where do you think your salary comes from if not from us, the tax payers?(And I really am looking for an answer here, WHERE do you think your salary comes from?)
I'm getting a little sick of teachers who do not understand that they are employees of the taxpayers!
No, they are government employees = New York STATE TEACHERS' ASSOCIATION. They are governed by the state and protected by UNIONS. Taxpayers don't own the teachers but instead the grounds in which the school stands on. We don't even own the programs instituted. RUN BY THE STATE.

The word slight is meant for the taxpayers. It's like 2% of your tax bill goes towards teachers and it's not teachers it's paid to the district to distribute to the teachers and staff members. Wish people can read and comprehend.
I really hope u are not a teacher in Lindenhurst. You are an idiot. Of course our tax dollars pay your salary. Our tax money goes to the district, which in turn pays you, therefore we pay your salary.

I believe that is a question that requires a question mark, but thank goodness there are overpaid teachers that can fix that type of incompetence with this generation.

nooooooooooo. You help in paying for per pupil expenditure, books, programs, grounds, enhance technology, etc. Teachers do pay towards their retirement and health benefits and part pension (a percentage)and various materials they need. If per pupil expense is 15k per year and your taxes are say 8k how is that you are spending all 8k towards their salaries? We pay a partial amount!!!!!!!! Teachers are at the bottom to when is gets distributed that way there are cuts. I dpn't know check that website I posted. Lindy 530 cut the bull and name calling.

Isn't that what I said?? But the amount coming OUT is slight. IT GOES TOWARDS PROGRAMS, etc first then the teachers.

It does not matter what the amount coming out of our taxes is for teacher salary. We are still paying your salary. That is what you are not getting. Without that "slight" amount you would not get paid. The Lindy budget shows 1.9 mil in teachers salary. While I know the whole amount of my taxes does not pay just your salary, a portion of the amount I pay in taxes does pay you salary. I am a advocate for teachers & believe they are not getting paid enough for the job that that do, but when I see you saying we don't pay u then I believe you need to be corrected.

The most important focus is not how much the taxes are, BUT, what is THE QUALITY OF EDUCATION FOR THE MONEY WE PAY IN TAXES!!!! This is what the Lindy residents do not get which is why we are called Swindlehurst! The Board and Administration are laughing their guts out for the stupidity of the community. And regarding the buses...each year more and more Lindy kids are on buses that take them to Catholic high schools...haven't you noticed!...a big part of the reason why enrollment is going down. Very sad...

What's more important, you're child's education, or the entertainment from a sports channel.
A teacher is one of the hardest jobs out there. Do parents realize that the teachers are the ones influencing to GO to college. They are the ones spending extra time to help them go down a good path. They have more social skills with your children then most parents. You think paying for teachers through your taxes is a horrible thing?
They are the ones pushing your children. You don't know what goes on in a school, adults. This is your child's education. And these are the people informing your child. A teacher is just as important as a doctor in my eyes. They are helping you survive.
An athlete is making well over what a teacher is making... and for what? To Entertain?
I'm in the school newspaper, and I'm researching issues on this topic.
and in the teacher's defense, All of my teachers have taught me reality, life, and got me interested in books rather than a PSP.
I want an adult to have a student's eye

So many of the teachers are so bad.

If they lose these cushy union jobs it is the end of the line.

[QUOTE who="...it is a small price to pay for being an extra parent to our students because their parents are not there for them. I cannot even count the number of students that complain to me and their guidance counselors that they feel as if their parents do not care. Pretty pathetic if you ask me. Almost as pathetic as your whining about your tax increase. You should go back to school and educate yourself about exactly where your tax dollars are spent and stop pointing fingers. Get a grip.[/QUOTE]

You have to be joking... Let me make sure I have this correct... Because you feel like an "extra parent" to some students, that you somehow deserve a pay raise, from me?(our tax dollars do indeed help fund your salary)-- while the bulk of bread earners are either losing their jobs, or not receiving pay increases-- as our economy slowly swirls down the toilet?
I'm a hardworking "real" parent (y'know, beyond 8:30-3:00 weekdays with 3 months off each year), who doesn't need to pay you to be a parent... I do that just fine thanks. Maybe you can collect the parenting fee directly from the kids who you provide that service to, because you're not getting it from me.
