I wonder when the U A W and unions that have destroyed major industries, lowered the standards of public education while emptying the pockets of taxpayer's will get it through their thick skulls that the party IS OVER! The greed and thievery that did such damage to the industry of the country will now begin to affect unions and their members. Let's face it, if Obama, who serves the Unions does put through "card check" to make it easier to unionize everybody, you can say hello to a MAJOR depression.!! I believe the unions are directly responsible for our troubled economy, together with the fantastic and irresponsible spending and the inevitable crash of our economy. I am very worried and unhappy at the prospects for recovery as long as Obama is in charge.

Sad to hear, but if the U.A.W. wasn't so riduculus with their demands for crazy pay and out of this world benefits, this probably could have been avoided. There's no way the big three can compete in a global economy with the UAW anchor around their necks.Expect to hear about more closings in the future.

With too many dealerships in such a small area, this is the way it has to be. They can't turn a profit in their current state so hopefully they trim some fat and are able to move forward.

Not a good thing for LI considering the amount of jobs lost along with the GM dealerships that are closing.

This is just the very beginning. Look for this to be repeated week after week.

Obozo just "ordered" Chrysler to cut its advertising budget in half. Hey, you won't be selling any cars so who needs to advertise?

And he wants to run EVERY industry as well as he's running the auto industry.

Don't look at me. You asked for him, you got him.

Wish you good luck on your Jeep, a nice vehicle. With the uncertainty about Chrysler right now, I certainly hope you leased it, as any depreciation in the residual will be their problem.
Not to rain on your parade, but I had a miserable experience with their service dept, but that was with a Subaru which they no longer carry.

Uh... How can you "fight it in court"? It's an agreement that has to be renewed in order to continue, one party has decided not to renew ... what is there to fight? Does that make any sense? What if Chrysler wanted to continue the franchise but the other guy didn't, could Chrysler take him to court to force him to do so? Makes ZERO sense.

Agreed !

Gary Brown's Dealership is worth the drive from Riverhead no question about it.

I bought 3 Jeeps from them.

I fell in love with the jeep in the army. I have had two in the last 20 years and loved every minute of it, as the saying goes, "there is nothing like a jeep". I would be very disappointed if I would not be able to have another, to replace the present one in the future.

Fiat will be the new manufacturer of Jeeps. From American Motors, to Chrysler, To Daimler, Back to Chrysler again, and now on to Fiat. I'd bet Fiat'll do a better job than Daimler did.

The last decent Jeep Grand Cherokee was the 2004 model, then Daimler installed 'Shopping Mall Suspension' on it and ruined its Off Road abilities. Maybe FIAT will fix things.

My 94 Grand Cheokee V-8 got far better mileage and more power from the old cast iron 5.2 L engine than the New 4.7 L which had less power, weighed less, and somehow managed to burn way more gas anyway. No wonder the Chrysler business died, they were going backwards.

My sympathies are with my fellow Long Islanders on this one they certainly don't deserve to lose the jobs they have because of Chryslers mis-management. Chrysler should be forced to find other jobs for these people as well as monetary compensation for the owners. The fact remains that Chrysler as a manufacturer has made increasingly less relavent and reliable products. My switch to an import vehicle this year was based on reliability and manufacture quality as my former car (Chrysler) couldn't compete in these areas . The one bright spot was in fact the dealership ..they always treated me fairly and had wonderful employees.... too bad the cars were junk.

I know terrible! Why couldn't the Lindenhurst one stay in business if they were doing good?
