"Crabb says the donor said "This was why God put the ticket in his hands."

Doubt he bought the ticket thinking "I hope I win so I can give it to the church." And now it goes to pay the defense attorneys.

Yeah, smart move, pal.

Church-goers - dumber than a bag of rocks.

It's called transcending a mediocre mindset. Few people get this, but when you do, money isn't the meaning. Categorizing all church goers reveals alot.

Yeah, categorizing those with the ability to think rationally yet believe in supernatural ghosts as idiots is a slamdunk. Look, I see jesus in my cheerios-the savior is talking to me!!! Time to grow up, pal.

Good deed, We know gods house needs money, the all mighty and powerful just can't seem to have enough or manage it to well. However the skeptic in me makes me think.
I wonder if this is a way not to pay taxes?
I'll just bet, as I also like to gamble, that
the good pastor is going to put that money in the Church building fund and then, build a 3 million $ shed. I'll bet on GOD getting a audit in the next year.

"I'd give a lot of it to the church, but not all of it," Crabbe said. "This is a rare, remarkable, generous person."

And if not him, who?

"Sorry," he said with a wide grin. "Can't help you."

Here's Crabbe saying he would not have given it all to the church........geez us help us

As an attendee to the church I have to say that some of these comments are very ignorant. If you had taken time to listen to the pastors full comments you would realize that during his sermon he stated that he was caught in a tough position. He struggled with the idea of accepting the money because he knew much would be said about him and the church. In the end though he decided to take the money because iin the end, ihe had to do what was best for our church. The place is very small. On a given sunday there are over 1000 visitors to the church, split among 4 services in a church which only holds 200! Also during the sermon he clearly stated and repeated that he does not support gambling or any other illegitimate form of making money. He clearly stated that the church nor he, supports the idea of gambling. Please understand that this church is unlike any church. We have set out on a mission to make a change not only in our local town, but throughout long island and through out the world. If you noticed, a large portion of the money donated to the church is going right back out to other organizations like LOVE 146 a non profit organization dedicated to ending sex slave trafficking in the phillipians and other countries where children are sold for sex. The church is tithing just the way any regular church goer would tithe. God Bless and i hope you change your attitude about the matter.

I take exception to this. I am a pastor. I squeak by financially. I drive a 1997 Toyota van with 200k miles. My check engine light has been on for 2 years because I cannot afford to get the problem fixed. I pastor a church of 50 people. Did you know a majority of churches and pastors in America are like me when it comes to the size of their congregations and the quality of living? This idea that all pastors drive fancy cars, live in big expensive homes only applies to about 2 percent if that. But even if they do have a nice house and drive a nice car, so what? Is it morally wrong? You seem to be implying pastors should be beggars walking around in rags. Would you respect them if they did? Stop looking to TV preachers as the sum of Christianity. They do not represent the majority. Instead look to churches like New Song Community Church in Baltimore which has done amazing work renovating row homes, providing job training and job search assistance and encouraging the arts, transforming the neighborhood from a drug-infested one to one that has people living productive lives and helping others. Oh and by the way that takes money. Are you going to ridicule them for transforming the neighborhood because it costs money? That's the world we live in. Are all churches doing what they should, no - some do waste money, but many do not. Many are doing good work and are trying their best to love their communities. What have you done for your community lately? Guys like me don't appreciate uniformed people like you broad brushing us who are trying our best to make a difference in the world. And let me tell you if we went just by hours worked, I am making about 5 bucks an hour. Pastors work hard, even the ones who make good money. Its harder than you could imagine. And yes it takes money to do this unfortunately. Cut the crap and open your eyes. More good is going on that you care to see so stop broad brushing churches and get your facts straight before you speak.

The lottery is a good way to show whose in control of who wins. In the scriptures lottery was a valuable tool.
I look at it like this. If I win, a lot of people who are poor and troubled are going to have a chance to have there basic human rights met. Contrary to what most self-righteous church goers think, druggies, mentally ill people and poor uneducated people are just as important as anyone else on the planet . If a real preacher wins he won't try to impose his moral views on anyone . He will be to busy helping the poor and oppressed. He Won't go around trying to change people and, the last thing a real preacher will want is to hide himself and his fancy cars in a gated community in the suburbs. He will use the money to help the people that are considered a burden on society and those who are living in horrible oppression. And he won't live a lifestyle any way other than the way he will provide for the helpless to live. Modestly but without need of anything.
The need is great and for God to let the right preacher win will be a beautiful thing. I serve God and sorry if you think it's wrong for me to spend that dollar in consideration that I may be appointed to win a bunch of money to help a bunch of people.
