Long Beach has its own plastic bag ban that was implemented in two phases and most shoppers seem to remember their bags.

Our family stopped shopping in long beach.

We shop in Lakewood now.

We use the plastic bags for trash can liners, storage in the vegetable bin and picking up disgusting things like poop and dead birds in the yard.

It would seem silly and wasteful to buy trash liners for the kitchen and bath.

We are very happy with the Lakewood stores.

Let us hope the revolutionary activists in control of Long Beach do not succeed in inflicting the Lowenthal grocery and goods bag harassment on the entire State.*(Revolutionary Council exempts the so called "the poor" voting majority fat cats who are provided "free food" and Lowenthal harassment tax-free tree killing, carbon releasing paper bags - the cost of which is paid by the increasingly impoverished and diminishing taxpaying minority)*

Long Beach is home to one of the State's most radical taxpayer funded 60s 70s era Government indoctrination camps, probably second only to the one that is located at Berkley.*(of "filthy speech" fame)* Most of the wealthy revolutionary self-serving local politicians are linked one way or another to this wastefully expensive taxpayer funded institution.*(no pun intended)* Until that fact is addressed, no meaningful change is possible.

I think the better practice is to offer plastic bags for a nominal sum, say 5 cents. I see now Ralphs in Long Beach will sell you a heavy black plastic bag, not sure of the price.

We bought a case of 1,000 plastic grocery bags from Smart & Final, works out to about 3 or 4 cents a bag.

Yes. You are right. That's just what the revolutionary ruling political class wants you to do. It has nothing to do with bettering the environment. It has everything with the wealthy revolutionary ruling class feathering their own nests by shifting the cost of carry bags from their pals, the rich overcharging "donor" Big Food mogul class to the struggling worker *("middle")* class food eaters - including hard working single moms.

The Lowenthal grocery and goods bag harassment tax harms the environment by providing "free" paper carry bags to the voting majority of fat-cat welfare people whom the political ruling class bribes with expensive taxpayer provided food stamps. This nefarious practice KILLS our friends, the trees, and thereby releases dangerous carbon dioxide into the air for little children to breathe, including little asthmatics. Have those despicable tyrants no shame at long last, Sir?

Or you could just bring your own re-usable bag and launder it once in a while. It's not that hard.

Yes. You are right. When competition was permitted between businesses, competitive minded grocers were happy to provide the simple service of a carry bag for their customers to carry their groceries home. Since the revolution, the 60s 70s revolutionaries *(now in power)* have acted to eliminate competition and to build a centrally controlled command economy. The shifting of the cost of carry bags from "State controlled and protected" Big Grocery moguls to the oppressed ordinary worker *("middle")* class food eater is no surprise. It has been tried in Zimbabwe, among other places, and the prospects for success is to be no less than it was there.
