Pacific International is a company that provides enuresis (bedwetting) training that is located in Nekoosa. I am in Kansas City and am unable to physically check out this company. Do any residents of Nekoosa have an opinion or knowledge of this company? Thanks.

Hello Bill,
I would be a little wary of this company because I believe they are a big sales pitch. Their program may or may not work--they say it's guaranteed to work within 4 months on average but could take a few years. And that makes me wonder if the child is not just growing out of it by then. A rep from PI sat with us for two hours--brought our impressionable 8-year-old into the sales pitch--and at the end of all that, sprung the $2000 bill on us. Well, that was out of our budget as I'm sure it would be for most people. And I think the scare tactics and guilt they put on the parents are really unforgiveable. We are good parents looking to help our child and they took advantage of that.

I am happy to read your replies about this company. I do not remember how long ago I was interested in the bed wetting subject. Probably close to 4 years ago, I inquired about this small problem. Now, this company keeps calling and leaving messages on my answering machine. They say, "We are calling about the recent problem you contacted us about concerning one of your family members." Mind you, this has been probably four years ago. So, I went on the internet and used a reverse phone look-up to find more info about the company then did a few searches and found your discussion. Just a little advice for the two of you. This company is persistent. Nip it in the bud NOW!

I resently had pacific international come to my home . I do beleive it is a scam because they left a bed wetting alarm and said that we needed thier consulting for a cost of $2000.00. I called and cancelled the contract within my 3 day cancellation period and used thier alarm untill they sent me my deposit back. My son stopped wetting the bed within 1 week and has been dry ever since(without consultation). My advice is buy an alarm and do it yourself. They cost about $90.00

Don't go with this company. The representative did not carry his end of the contract and now we are having legal issues with them. We are going to continue to pursue. It actually ruined our child's self esteem.

We signed up for this "guaranteed" program and after giving them $2700, received nothing. It is a scam. They send someone over to your home to sell you on the concept of the mat with an alarm. The sales person is good and checks up with you for two weeks to make sure you are doing it right. It's after those two weeks where they basically drop you as a customer. We never heard from anyone at the company until three months later they sent us an additional bill for renting the equipment that we already paid $2700 for earlier. We returned the cheaply made equipment and still have the bedwetting problem.
Don't waste your time and money with these people. They are hard to deal with and we had no option but to return the equipment.

My daughter used to have a bedwetting problem, and when she was 8, I contacted Pacific International. Yes, the program costs about $2000, and yes, they send you a cheaply made alarm. But the program has worked. It took us about 8 months to concur the problem, and it was more difficult for the parents than for the kid. But we got a lot of support/advice/help from the Pacific International staff. You can probably do it by yourself, just by purchasing the alarm, and the key is when you hear the alarm, the parent has to wake up the child fully. We did not get any success, until we learned on how to wake her up completely. And at some points it is difficult and you start losing it, and losing hope, and that is when the staff comes in to support you and give you other ideas.

The staff at Pacific International is very hard to deal with. As soon as you have a problem they begin pointing fingers and demanding their equipment back. They did not indicate to us in any way that they wanted to work with us. Once they have your money, they become downright "rude" on the phone. Do yourself a favor and buy the alarm for under $100 and wake your child when it goes off at night by splashing water on their face while in the bathroom, or using a wet wash-cloth.

Pacific International doesn't deserve your hard earned money. Save it!

I am familiar with this company and the program they sell. It has helped many children (and adults) to overcome this sleep disorder and live happy and more fulfilling lives.

They use many ways to "work" with the alarm, but it's hard work on the parents and the child. Parents get discouraged or think is taking too long, and don't follow the instructions given, then they say this don't work.

There are many families willing to give testimony of how things worked for them, just ask.

No matter what people say, some others will shout that it's a scam, because they were too lazy to give it a try in the right way, the happiness and self esteem of a child is precious, how can you say that it's too expensive?

To each their own.

You obviously didn't follow any of the instructions given, if the staff doesn't hear from you how can they help you? And yes... you are right they request the equipment back after not getting reply to at least 3 letters sent to the parents, wondering what's going on.
If per contract you are supposed to get your money back, why didn't you hire a lawyer? Perhaps because you didn't follow it and you know you have no case?

By what you say, you didn't give it a try, but you are blasting a company that has been in service for 58 years. 58 years of scamming people? Wow! And nobody was able to shut them down?

You or a relative must work for the company to make statements like: "the happiness and self-esteem of a child is precious, how can you say that it's too expensive". That talk is right out of the sales pitch. We did follow direction recording every wake-up every night for four months. The only communication we had with the company was our salesman (who was great for two weeks) and then a nasty letter four months later demanding that we return the equipment. No other letters, no other phone calls and no e-mails. Maybe it would have worked after 6 months or a year, but we were getting no customer service out of Wisconsin. Whoever was in charge of our account dropped the ball big time and when we called in no one wanted to deal with us. They gave us the attitude that they have our money and just don't care anymore. If I can save one other family the money and aggravation that this company caused our family it is worth telling my story to everyone.

Maria, it looks like you work for Pacific International?
Replying to you might be a waste of time, as you will dismiss everything with a very easy "you must work there".

This is a very small community, so yes... around here every one has worked, knows somebody that works, even a couple families had a child in the PI program, so I think I have a fair idea of how they work.

And what I know is that it is not about selling (renting) you an alarm, this is to work with the person (case director) that is assigned to you, that's why the salesman stopped contacting you. You have to send some kind of report regularly, so they can tell you what to do next. Depending on how the child is doing, they send different instructions, look at their diets and what kind of drinks they have, etc....

They can not work with you if you don't tell them what's going on. It's not an easy process and they know that,(see Mila's message above), so they are in contact with their clients, and send letters to them when they don't hear back, till after a time of not getting replies,(those 3 months seem about right), they ask for the alarm back if you are not using it.

You said you didn't want to wait to see if it had worked, and just stopped. I find interesting that after paying all that money, you didn't contact this people yourself demanding help. You didn't answer either, what your lawyer said?

And I don't know if my statement was out of the sales pitch, I never got one so you might be right, but the fact is that I'm a mother of three and I feel exactly like that about my children, sorry if it sounded "phony".

As I said this is a very small community and I didn't like to see this company put down and called a scam just because you think so. I wanted to remind everyone, there is always another side to every story.

Thank you for the reviews. I was already suspicious that they want to come to my home and speak to my child, me and my spouse. Usually, that means big bucks and hardline sales tactics. I'm going to tell them to take me off their list. They actually called me after 9pm last night.

We used their program for our 16 year old daughter. She has autism and was wetting the bed every night..... her whole life.
It took about seven months to help her stop wetting. We had tried two different alarms and three different medications to no avail.
The program was actually recommended to me from a fellow Physician. It worked for their son in only three months.
Our case did take a lot of attention from Pacific International and they were always professional caring with our daughter, my wife and I.

P.S.
We did check out the company, Better Business Bureau , references etc. We discovered that they correct around six thousand cases a year and their complaint percentage is so low . We found about three complaints for every six thousand cases and over seventy percent were from people that didn't use the program.
We just wanted something that worked and they had already corrected around 500,000 since 1951.
My colleage had met them at an AMA convention several years ago.

WE are poor and don't have medical insurance, the doctors from the free clinic didn't seem concerned and wanted to give her drugs. This company was recommended from a friend and has a sliding scale so we got help from them for the same money we were paying for diapers.WE are Christians and prayed for years for help. God answered our prayers for our 15 year old precious daughter.
We talked to our case director at least 15 times she was very sweet and helpful.

My parents contacted PI for me when i was 13. Within 4 months i had trained myself to stop wetting the bed. I am now 36 and credit PI with changing my life.

The PI program does work, but you are paying $2000+ for consulting on how to use a bedwetting alarm. These devices aren't hard to use. Read the directions.

I liken this to paying someone $2000 to show you how to use a toaster. Anyone do that lately?

If you have trouble...find a good bedwetting bulletin board online and get answers there...FREE.

Or if you have $2000 to spare....use Pacific International.

We had Pacific International come over to see if they could help with our son. Prior to meeting with a representative, we were told to not tell our son anything. This sales tactic was a concern, coupled with the impression that if we did not sign up, it meant that we did not love our child.

Luckily we refused to bring our son in for the second portion of the presentation as we could see that he would be placed in an awkward situation in the event that we didn't sign up for the program.

We were determined to work to resolve our 8 year old son's wetting problem that had been nightly for 2.5 years.

We found success with the book entitled "Getting to Dry" (Free from your library), read it in 2-3 Days. We also had a Malem Alarm from a previous attempt to stop the wetting.

After 6 weeks of gradual improvement he stopped! He has been dry now for 35 consecutive days! We are so proud of him.

Check out www.tryfordry.com Their total kit costs 135 (we did't get it because we had an alarm from a previous attempt).

I tried Pacific International over 3 years ago. My son stopped wetting in 6 months, but then relapsed. We followed everything to the letter, then they told me he was dry. Our counselor left and we were never notified. We were given a new one. When I said after 2 years the program didn't work I wanted our money back, they started having us restrict his diet. We did that also, and that hasn't worked. He is still drinking distilled water, watching his dairy intake. they told me that if this didn't resolve his wetting, I would have to go and see a Urologist. They said nothing about a refund for their program not resolving the issue.
