Come now. Mr. Widdoes is a respected leader. Sutton wanted him and Adams has him. The Chief runs the show and the Sheriff is the public symbol. There is no one more qualified than Mr. Widdoes. I would bet there is a majority of the deputies supporting Adams/Widdoes because they are smart enough to know what benefits come along with this team. Those that won't support have more to gain from Sutton's personal promises.
They all make promises. Look at what Cecil County has had - Empty ones.

They all make promises. Look at what Maryland has had. I looked on Sutton site and he seems too have qualified people as well. So its a draw?.

What do you consider qualified? Tuer and Russell? I don't think you could rub those two together and get Mr. Widdoes.

No disrespect intended. If Chief Meusel really wanted the office, he would have recruited Mr. Widdoes himself.

It's going around at Jail that if Sutton wins, those so called "spice girls" the ones left will retire. Hopefully the bad apples will be gone. Clean house either get on the train or get off. Goodbye Clewer, Langshaw, Goodley, Porter, Carr and a few others who stabbed other in the back too get ahead.

Lets look at this clearly. Scott Adams is a nice guy who fleas to the school system 17 years ago to not have to work nights and weekends. Is he in touch with what's happening in the community probably not. Jerry Widdoes a competent leader whom most officers hate because he mistreats his own. He left the sheriffs department because he was asked to fill a spot in uniform. Oh and he was ratted out for wrongdoing by Ken Russell. ken Russell never worked a day in uniform and has a social seperation disorder. Has problems relating to others. He came to Cecil county from Baltimore to hide his wife's drug addiction. She was arrested multiple times here in Cecil county for bad checks and theft. She later passes away from an overdose. This is all while he is one if Cecil county's finest. Great leader huh! Chris Sutton. A deputy from within. Lets say mister discrimination. He doesn't like those that have not come from within. Maybe the best person has not come from within. This county needs better people. I don't see any that could make a difference. All of these people are low level managers in training. Lets find something better

Doing a good job with schools? Drugs run rampid in ccps and no one is doing anything about it. And haven't been since I was in school that was 04 and it has only gotten worse. Kids on lunch break going to shoot up in bathrooms and cars just to keep from getting dope sick the rest of the school day. Kids in class first thing in the morning with alcohol on their breath and heavily intoxicated. What great influence on others. Kids selling drugs getting caught only to return back to the same school within a month and continue to do the same. Good job pal way to clean up the schools. I forgot, no student left behind, guess your hands are tied? Now for sutton, I'm sorry but I want a sheriff that doesn't look like he is going to keel over from a massive coronary. I can't trust a man that was a flip flop, are you a republican or a democrat? Not one republican I know want some mixed up person calling them selves a republican to get votes, cause this county is unhappy with the democratic parties ways in this nation. Do a solid and change your party back.

There need to be scheduled open debates for all those registered to run for sheriff in the Republican Party they should be public with the people asking the questions. Afterwards there should be a physical fitness test for all and all failures of the pt should withdraw from the race. Lets have an active sheriff that cares and does something to improve the county. Make it safer cleaner and drug free

A leader that shows fear and unwilling to lead by example is not a leader but an officer that hides in a special place, SOR, TASK Force, donut shop(Chris Cartmen) I'm waiting for a real candidate to come forward not hand picked by Barry Janney (Oh my back hurts, I cant be a cop no more)

People get "thrown under the bus" for doing dumb shit. Maybe calling out all the time, failure to supervise, being a big sissy. If you can't take the heat, stay out of the kitchen!!!!

The current command staff at the jail is better than it has ever been. They have it ran correctly and take Good care of their officers. If older officers got fired or left, it's bc they either went onto something better or they got what they deserved!!

Good grief, everyone and their politics. Someone always has a conspiracy theory about officials trying to get rid of their mediocre employees that can't cut the mustard. There will always be drugs in schools, that's never going to change. Where you have hundreds of personalities, there will always be some that choose to go down that path. Be it in schools, sports, government, church, etc. It's always going to be there. The only thing you can do is educate the children to do the right thing. Your county is growing everyday, I'm sure the current Sheriff's Office is doing their best to keep your community safe. There will always be citizens that believe law enforcement isn't doing enough. Those citizens should stop criticizing the police departments and help do their parts as countrymen by providing quality feedback and suggestions that are beneficial to the cause. It's my understanding that your counties detention center recently renovated and had a drastic expansion. That alone shows that your county government sees the need to hold law breakers accountable by upgrading to a larger facility. With everything in law enforcement, there will always be room for improvement. The job will never be done in someone else's eyes. If there has to be trouble, let it be in my day. So that my children may live in peace.

Well said Johnny red. If people want to scrutinize, maybe they should join force. Stop the political mudslinging. Enough is enough. There is no such thing as a perfect agency.

Well fellows you all made some coos points. The current sheriffs department is getting by. The next sheriff needs to be more than adequate. The person needs to have the knowledge and experience to push the department ini the future. The candidates that are running don't have that experience and have character flaws. I would like to see an experienced chief head the department.
