Jacob Marley's has a unique way of attracting new customers. If someone, liek my nieghbor and I on Friday 9/18 discovered, parks in their parking spaces in the rear and does not go into marley's, they are IMMMEDIATELY subject to being towed away. As there was NO ONE in the parking lot at 6:45 pm on a Friday, and we parked in a space not clearly marked as a tow away, we thought it would be ok. Apparently Marley's expected a rush as the tow truck showed up within a half hour. be assured that even though management relented and allowed my neighbor to move his car, neither he nor I, will be future customers and it will be my mission to tell EVERYONE I know to avoid Jacob Marley's.
May wife and I tried Marley's once in August and found that while the meal was mediocre, at least is was over priced. May I suggest a better, more positive approach to customer relations would be to place a card on first time offenders reminding them that the spaces are for JM's customers only and add a coupon for a free appetizer or dessert to get them to try JM's. Take down the plate number and only consider towing second offenders.
As it stands, there really is no good reason at all to park behind Jacob Marleys as one will either be towed or served an overpriced average meal.

So, let me see if I get this right. If you our not at home at 6:45 Dear Poster..anyone in your neighborhood can park in your driveway? Our GM was kind enough to let you OFF THE HOOK and you respond with this? As for your suggestion that we give away product to trespassers.....NOT GONNA HAPPEN !!! Why would you want something for free if it's mediocre....is our parking mediocre as well? You will only say nice things if you can park in our spots? The overall response to our arrival in Port has been positive.....We bought the building and the lot...we have tenants in our apts. who get spaces..we pay taxes and we live in MD. Maybe Backfin should put notes on cars saying they should not park there and give them a free app. for parking in the municiple lot 30 yards away!!!! Did you know Dear Poster, that Backfin has leased parking behind the library? Probably not..because he and all his employees park there !!!!! If you never come in our place of business again..we will not lose any sleep...however if you continue to slander our good name... our Attorney will spend many sleepless nights...EDUCATING you on the law !!

Dave, Janet and/or Jim;
Business 101 teaches some basics about marketing. First, EVERYONE, including "trespassers" are potential customers. Secondly customers need to be cultivated with positive marketing. No business can afford to offend potential customers before they even try one's product, particularly in these times when discretionary "dining out" dollars are sparce.
A happy customer will recommend you to a few others, but an upset customer will tell ten others to avoid your business. My suggestion of a gift card is prudent marketing. Businesses give away product all the time to attact customers. Spend a little to gain potentially a lot. A gift card creates the opportunity to grow you customers. A tow guarantees that the car owner will never be a customer and a multiple of ten per everyone in the car will hear about it.
You've lost the four of us as customers, as well as the forty or so who will hear our tale. So don't lose any sleep over us. Just remember the others who have been towed and start adding up the numbers. Sleep may become a problem, particularly if your current attitude doesn't change.
