The way Home Makeover does home after home:
Ty shows up for the Demolition stage on day one and 2, then he goes back to the home already being built. The "stars" of the show actually don't do nearly as much as they make it look like on camera. If you went to that CT website, very rarely do you see pics of the design team. They aren't too tired after doing a build because they don't do that much.. They are a DESIGN TEAM. hence, they don't actually build. They are glorified interior designers

I am just wondering why the Sun omitted Robyn's (and her Dad's) hardworking dedication to the farm! I'm anxious to see how Extreme Makeover highlights the whole family (beyond Renee's commitment) into their program, as they have all endured challenging times to keep Freedom Hills afloat! My thanks goes to the whole family for being a treasure to Cecil County and the riders they serve!

I used to volunteer there when I was in college. I loved the program and all that it has to offer. I am sure that the Sun didn't purposefully omit them, but this is about the Luther family and the farm. When the show is on, if Robyn and her dad have given as much as they have, I am sure that the family will say something. Or, behind the scenes, the show might have interviewed them.

I am telling you it is all for show. Right down to the scenes that they taped with out the family even being there.“The move that bus scene”… They family was not even there for the taping of that. I have seen it for myself and it is very rehearsed. I just wait to see how it plays out on TV. Are they going to leave Robyn out?

They travel back and forth between locations.

The crew must have an impossible schedule. I've been reading about their work in Manchester, NH the week following Oct. 17th and now I read that they are in Cecil County the week following Oct. 14th. How can this be?

This family is a Great Blessing to the Community. I have so many friends and families that I am associated with that have some connection to this wonderful farm-Freedom Hills. They all have great memories and provide a wonderful service to the people in need. You never know if you would ever need their help someday in your own lives! Remember, the family never turns anyone away even if you didn't have the money for their service. Everyone should be ashamed of themselves for being so negative. You can't burn bridges in life, because you never know when you will need them. It truly is a gift to them regardless of anyone else's opinions. I live about five miles from this farm and very proud of this wonderful gift to the Community. Congratulations Freedom Hills and Luther Family .<quoted text>

I take great offense to this great county being called "home of negativity." You have to really know the Luther family to know what the previous writer is talking about. There is no one who is less deserving than Renee.

So two nay-sayers chime in without including their location-- I wonder if they are from Cecil county, the home of negativity? This family has given so much to others without asking for anything. They even volunteer at other charitable groups' events in the county. Even people who know them were largely unaware of their situation-- they don't 'beg' or whine so we didn't know they needed help. Thank goodness someone contacted the TV show. And yes, Clark Turner is getting some nice PR out of this, but this is hardly the first charitable endeavor he and his company have undertaken. I've talked with folks involved in this project and they all say that Clark Turner is the only one who could have pulled off such a wonderful effort so quickly. It has been a well-organized team effort but Clark deserves a bouquet of roses, not the negative comments of a few on this BB.

They used each other.

of everyone involved in the project. If the community and the constrution crews really cared for the family, why wait until EM and TP show up?
True volunteerism and caring come from the heart not a television crew.
This is all a publicity stunt to advertise using the family as bait.

I am sure that this family contributes a great deal to the community. However, this house that was built could house 3 families. Wouldn't the money/ time/ material donated have been better spent helping multiple families rather then one? How is this family going to afford their taxes, heating and electrical bills that are to follow? It looks like ego took over this show... I wish the Luther family the best of luck.

She did indeed ask for the home. In addition to that, they had wanted to send her to Disney for the week and she declined. She wanted to go to Italy and off she went. This is pure greed and nothing more.

I am right there with you on you thoughts. There is much more to the story then told. You are right when you say "Home Edition is losing sight of their original quest". They are doing it for show now. There were other families in the area that needed the makeover more then Renee. She won because of the riding program. Renee just had a new house built about 10 years ago. A nice house if I might add. Makes me think twice before I believe the story from the next Home makeover show.
<quoted text>
I have know Renee for many years. Maybe 30 years.
I have worked with her husband. I know thateven before her husband died it was not always easy to continue doing the good work that has been her life. Renee is a very unselfish, generous, christian woman. She needed help to continue to do her work with the handicapped children and I believe God has opened a way for her to do it.
Why can't people just rejoice with her.

I know that Ms. Sherrard-Luther just recently lost her husband and she does a wonderful service for the handicapped but I can't help but wonder if there isn't another hard working family the would have better deserved a smaller more practical home. She has two children that will eventually be moving out and she will be left with this enormous house all alone. I think that Extreme Makeover: Home Edition is losing sight of their original quest. I used to sit and watch the show and cry when I saw a deserving family, so humbled by this gift. But now it seems to have lost the impact that it orginially had.
This woman doesn't deserve a huge house like this!!! What a joke, not to mention when the first went into the house, she would have pushed her own kids down to get in first had they been in the way. Speaking of those kids, what's their problem that they need to be spoiled rotten and live in a HUGE house. The show has totally lost my respect in what they do. Used to be where the families getting into the houses were definitely down on their luck and needed it badly. Now as it was said, they are just keeping the show going without doing any serious research as to who needs a home. Go move some less fortunate families out of the projects who are busting ass just to pay their rent and provide for their families, move them into a descent neighborhood with a practical house and REALLY give something to someone who deserves it. This broad getting a huge home like that was a JOKE

Just watched the 2 hour special for the Luther Family, Amazing house Best of luck to the family for doing the type of work they do in the long run they will be blessed for they are of a giving family. Remember you are what you put into life.As far as Ty and the crew I often wonder how people are able to maintain the taxes or upkeep on some of the makeovers as far as the Luther family good luck I'm glad you have a great house and a wonderful future ahead for yourselves.

I love all the negative comments, they just make my day. spoiled rotten kids? hahahaa we work our butts off at the farm.

anyway to clear things up, Robyn and my Popop (Howard Linton) did not want to be included in the show. We asked but they declined to be interviewed ect and that made us pretty sad but whatever.
If anyone has their doubts on whether Freedom Hills deserved this or not, they definitely should come out during lessons and talk to the students.
oh and we had noooooo idea where they were sending us ( we didn't "choose italy" but we loved it"

I just sit and shake my head I actually just got so up set watching the show last night that I went to bed. There was never any mention about any of the family whether they wanted to be mentioned or not. What about Robin you know that her and your mom started that riding program. Just makes me sick that your mom can sit there and take all the credit for the program. I use to come to the farm and volunteer at the farm. I spent much time with the family. You lived in a house that was much nicer and better then a lot in Cecil county and surrounding areas. What about the other family that was considered for the make over. She had lost everything from her house and her whole family with the exception of one. You know I do think what you guy do at the farm is a GREAT but I do not believe that your family was the most deserving family. I know that it is not your fault but you that make over could have helped a family that was without or in much more need. I am sorry that you lost your dad. You know there is more to that story then what was told. I will not get into it but you and your mom know what I am talking about. I really hope you can give back to the community what the community has given to you. I will never support the Extreme Makeover show again I will always question the truth behind the story. Sad part is that I am totally for helping those in need.
