Proven leadership? Proven liar maybe. It says something when the people that work for him don't want him there

The Cecil Whig is reporting that Janney refused to debate Sutton one on one. If he's so great why is he scared? "I do believe" Janney will be unemployed in 2011!

Sheriff Janney refused to debate Sutton, under Sutton's terms. He is not "scared" - maybe you could say that is is Sutton who is getting desperate. They've had numerous forums- any informed voter knows where they both stand. Why should Sheriff Janney subject himself to a group of ill manner hillbillies. The forums thus far have been controlled and informative. The only people who have called out and made audible noises have been Sutton supporters.

My opinion is if Janney does not win this election, he can walk away knowing he ran a clean, scare-free, campaign and if the voters of Cecil County want an unprofessional bully for a Sheriff- then so be it- it is a democracy but all I'm saying is be careful what you wish for. Also to whoever writes Sutton's ads- I know you like to use big words but "apprised" means to be informed NOT consisting of. Buy a dictionary, they do have those over at the Walmart(s)

CC voter you said it best..."any informed voter knows where they both stand". If you are an informed voter then you will vote for Sutton in November. Janney's shown he has no clue how to fight the rising crime rate with his idea that there isn't a gang problem in cecil county. Go to hollingsworth manor. See how many bloods members you'll find there. You probably have never been a victim of a crime. Ask Janney next time you play golf with him or see him at the gym when he should be at the office earning his paycheck how his medically retired back is feeling

The first two I would "spray down" with 409 are Sutton and Streight! There are some other dirty spots in the bunch but you have to get the main dirt spots before you can deal with the run off!

Chris Sutton ran a nasty primary campaign. Contacting ex-spouses and dragging teenage children into his "dirt fest" IS TYPICAL OF THE NASTY GAME HE STANDS TO PLAY. His campaign manager and Ann Strapadingdong running around Cecilton saying negative things about Dewitt AND HIS SON was a very low moment in Suttons campaign. Sutton pointing the finger at Dewitt running against him because Sheriff Janney put him up to it was a JOKE! We ALL KNOW NOW THAT SUTTON PUT SLATER UP TO RUN against Sheriff Janney and Mahan was playing the part of the "disgruntled Sutton supporter" to make it look ligit. Gerczak was really just a guy looking to do something else besides retire. Al Michael told several people that he was running to take votes from Janney, he must have seen that Sutton is a bad choice since he is endorsing Sheriff Janney now.

I am tired of hearing about what the FOP and the Deputies want! You treat the citizens TERRIBLE, you treat the Sheriff disrespectful and you are ignorant to each other! GROW UP YOU BUNCH OF BABIES! People are loosing their jobs, homes, and savings to the poor economy and you "JOKES" want to walk around with your chest sticking out "pretending" that you give a crap about our safety! In fact, all you care about is your binding arbitration! You look like a bunch of "JOKES" and if binding arbitration is worth all of you looking like "BIGGER JOKES" with Sutton as your leader...then you all get what you deserve! I can only hope, if things go your way, that binding arbitration starts costing enough money to eliminate your jobs! By the time you all realize the injustice you have done to your position and the Sheriff's office as a whole it will be too late to salvage any pride!

Re: Binding Arbitration...

"When Vallejo (California) voters went to the polls in June to decide whether or not to revoke the city's current binding arbitration process, their vote was closely watched not just in California but across the country, as increasing scrutiny is given to the role played by what some see as overly generous public employee pension pay-outs in the financial crises faced by more and more municipalities." "Under Vallejo's current binding arbitration, 189 of Vallejo's public safety employees earned more than $100,000 a year in 2009, not including health and retirement benefits. The highest paid earned $312,000."

IT'S NO WONDER THE FOP AND ITS DEPUTIES WANT BINDING ARBITRATION!!!!!!!!! Maybe we should close all high schools down and utilize the money on raises for the Deputies...

CC Voter is so correct! Why subject yourself to a set-up debate. It makes no sense at this point. Anyone with half a brain has already made up their mind as to who they want for Sheriff. Saying you can do all of these things is way different than coming through on those promises. All of these promises have a heavy price tag attached. Talk is cheap. I have said it before and I'll say it again, I do not like surprises. Give me Janney in 2010. Maybe we should be directing the gang problem to the Elkton Police Department. Hollingsworth Manor is in the incorporated city limits of Elkton. Please respond if you have actually seen a gang member.

Curious George. You are correct that hollingsworth manor is in the incorporated town limits of Elkton but last time I checked Elkton was a town in Cecil County. You're vote for sheriff would be the sheriff of Cecil County. Last time I checked there were no farms in hollingsworth manor so these gang members have to leave the manor to buy food and other essential items to live. On the way to walmart they'll probably burglarize a house or two. Its amazing that Janney's former employer (MSP) has a gang unit working right here in Cecil County. Obviously they know there's a problem. I'm glad you don't like surprises because neither do I. If Janney wins you can expect him to never miss tee time at the golf course and to not care about the county's rising crime rate.

I Do Believe. You must work for Janney to know who did what for the election and what their reasons were so it makes sense now. You will hopefully be unemployed after the election just like Janney. Cecil county deputes start out just under $39k per year. Harford county sheriffs deputies start out at $43k in 2008(probably more now). New castle county police starts out at $47k. Delaware state police starts out at $48k. All these agencies offer similar benefits but you know which one doesn't offer medical benefits for retired employees? You guess it...the cecil county sheriffs office. Binding arbitration is not to make the deputies rich...its to make it so they can afford to buy a house and maybe raise a family in this county.

You cannot compare Cecil to Harford County?? Harford folks have some class and dignity!! The cost of living is higher, that is WHY the salaries are higher!!

Why not worry about WHY Cecil has not updated their laws since the late 70's?? What do all of those cartoon characters that call themselves Commissioners do???

Again, it is all about "what is in it for me"??-

Whatever: I agree with you about the county being behind the times and the commissioners are worthless but let's face it. Edgewood is worse than any three parts of cecil county combined. Add in Aberdeen and Havre de Grace and you really don't have a point. Outside of Bel Air and Fallston, harford county isn't that nice.

I'm with CC voter... Why have another debate? So Sutton can bash the sheriff again? He does it at every forum. People are getting tired of it. He's running scared right now and that is why he wants to have one. He's done nothing but threaten the deputies and bash the current admin. Even little Miss Kim has threatened people if he ever gets back in....which will never happen. Come on, people it's time to stop all the lies and vote for the right man. He was even bashing him last night when the State Police endorsed the sheriff. He will never stop. He told lies about Dewitt and his family just like he is doing now with Jsnney. Is that any way to run a campaign? I don't think so. Would you want anyone talking and spreading lies about your family??there is no need to have another forum Sutton! We all know who we are voting for so just leave it at that. Why didn't you give the letter to the sheriff yourself.? Right you're scared..as you should be. And Kim was shaking so bad she almost dropped it . What a bunch of lowlife yellow shirts!! No class whatsoever!

Better check with the Cecil County Human Resources Department because Cecil County does provide medical benefits for retirees from all county departments. It is not Sheriff Janney's fault no one can afford what the COUNTY provides to ALL employees...not just Sheriff's Deputies retire...so binding arbitration might help the deputies. What about the rest of the county employees? Do they not work just as hard only to get a slap in the face because they do not wear a badge?

If you are an investigator, you may want to try a new career. How about a pet groomer? I guarantee that I will still be employed after the election. Before you compare any other law enforcement agency to Cecil County, you should look at your own agency. I can assure you that any law enforcement agency in Delaware would have terminated the majority of the Deputies from Cecil County. There are some strict rules over the line...drinking, fighting, domestic disputes, credit issues, and insubordination are NOT TOLERATED in Delaware. On the spot termination. That just wiped out 50% of the Sheriff's office! I give Sheriff Janney a little bit of credit for supporting the men and women of the Sheriff's office...he sure does give a lot of second chances! Of course those that have been given a second chance have a habit of forgetting that the Sheriff's office and Cecil County have been very good to them! Maybe that is part of the problem...Sheriff Janney should have fired each offender. BTW, Harford County does not compare to the population or the location of Cecil County.

It sounds as though you will need to pull the deputies out of the schools in order to fund an arbitrator to come in and give each of you a $6000 raise...NOW THAT MAY ADD UP...so where do you suggest the county to get that money? Oh...you say that they can cut other "silly" little county programs to find the money to give to the Deputies...hmmmm.

Looking for money in Cecil? How about the SPCA that gets over $800K for animal control?- They have one van and sit on 13+ acres and only use about one acre. They DO NOT do one thing to promote animal control with the $800K, and the cartoon character Commissioners keep giving them the money because they are lazy!!!

Everyone should be going after the local gov't, don't you think???
