A.P.G IS A BIG WASTE OF TAX PAYERS MONEY. BY CLOSING A.P.G THE PRESIDENT WILL SAVE AMERICAN TAX PAYERS MILLIONS OF DOLLARS. PEOPLE ARE WORKING THERE DOING NOTHING AND GETTING PAID BIG DOLLARS FOR JUST SITTING AROUND ALL DAY PLAYING IN THE COMPUTERS DRINKING COFFE AND READING THE NEWSPAPERS. SOMETIMES THEY GO HOME AT TWO IN THE AFTERNOON. SOME GETS PAID 27 DOLLARS AN HOUR TO SIT DOWN READ THE NEWSPAPER ALL DAY LONG AND THEN THEY GO HOME. OTHERS MAKES 60,000 DOLLARS A YEAR JUST TO EAT AND READ NEWSPAPERS ALL DAY LONG. AND WHEN THEY HAVE TO WORK THEY GET SICK. BUT THEY DONT GET SICK WHEN IS PAY DAY. OTHERS ARE HIDING SO THEY DONT HAVE TO GO TO THE WAR IN IRAQ AND AFGHANISTAN.

Why should anyone listen to the ramblings on an idiot too stupid to figure out how to work the shift key?

I for one am glad APG is there and the mission they perform. They are an essential part of the military with the testing they do. The bazooka (grandfather to all shoulder fired rockets) was perfected at APG. A friend of mine worked on the "up armored" Hummer which has and will save Americans. The training areas allow all branches of the services to hone their skills before facing the enemy. Everything they do there directly impacts (no pun intended) the safety of Americans and the destruction of the enemy. If the people of APG save one American service member then it is worth keeping open. And just to satisfy your curiosity I, or my family members, do not work at APG nor do we work in jobs that depend on APGs economic influence.

Years ago they were a benefit.... now, they are a liability. Aberdeen is becoming more and more populated as the days go bye, and my house is rocking more and more each day as they amp up their training.
Simply put, the things that APG does (outside of the mustard gas disposal) should not be done near a populated area. It should be done somewhere 'in the middle of nowhere' in the center or mid-West of this country.
Move APG's operations, outside of their computer operations and biological weapons disposal (which is VERY safe!) somewhere out where there is almost no chance of them overshooting the base boundaries.

1. I'm sure APG was there first. Why did you buy your house near APG? You should move to the midwest.

2. Would you rather have your house rattle once in a while from friendly activities, or rattled by foreign invaders?

3. Did you know that the local rock quaries also blast and rattle houses? Do you want to close them also?

4. And for the 'Bald Eagle', you need to see a shrink. You are totally clueless!!

Isn't it strange that all the negative comments about APG are coming from out-of-state. What would they know about APG and its inner workings?

Ok, lets close it.
Where are the people that work there going to find a job? Where are they going to move all the testing facilities too? Who is going to pay the cost to reestablish one of the best research and testing groups in the world? Do you want to tack all the costs onto the trillion dollars the tax payer are already burdened with? Your right we should close it because you chose to move or live next to a testing area that has had the same mission for nearly 100 years.
Just like the rest of the people that complain I say love it or leave it. If you dont like the rattling windows, move to an area where you dont hear it. Deal with it or move, it is as simple as that.

How many people actually work there outside of the military people? Answer: None that I know of!

Heck, I asked this 14 years ago when I was still in high school, and NO ONE knew ANYONE who worked on the base who wasn't a soldier, no one!
Now, I might not have been asking the right people..... but I don't think so, because I asked everyone in the school about this, and no one knew anyone who worked on the base who wasn't a soldier. Even the adults!
It's just plain and simply time to close APG and move their operations out in the 'boonies' somewhere out west. Less chance of accidentally killing someone, less change of accidentally lobbing a bomb in my front yard, etc.

And no, I will not move. I have lived in Aberdeen since I was BORN almost 30 years ago. I love Aberdeen... but I dislike the base intensely because of the problems that they are creating. Heck, I cannot even go more than 40 feet into the woods behind my home on Post Road because I am then tresspassing on APG soil!

I feel bad for you, living on POST RD. I wonder where it got that name? A little tidbit from the website.
10,600 civilians employed at the installation. Aberdeen Proving Ground provides employment for over 6% of the population of Harford County making it the largest single employer in the county. The balance of the workforce is drawn from Baltimore City, Baltimore Co., Cecil Co., Kent Co., and Queen Annes Co. in Maryland as well as areas of Virginia, Pennsylvania, Delaware, New Jersey, and the District of Columbia.

The Soldiers are being phased out of APG.The work that is being done is to keep you safe, And consider what would happen to the businesses, livelihoods and families in Aberdeen and surrounding areas should this base close, Go to any restaurant during lunch and see how many APG personnel are their spending money in our town, Without APG Aberdeen becomes a ghost town, The busineses close, People will have to relocate to find jobs, Schools close

Hang on to your hat, with the BRAC APG will only increase its mission. End meaning....... more booms.
As far as civilians working at APG, there are going to be more coming. There will be a substanial increase of the civilian work force at APG. Once again that means more booms.
I do see your side of the argument but the plain truth is APG is not going anywhere. With the war on terror it will more than likely increase the testing and therefore increase the traffic for the installation and surrounding area.
As far as no one working out there outside members of the military. Of all the employees that I know a few had been in the military but not all.
You could get a job out there, pay is steady (not as much as other jobs off post) and benefits are ok (my benefits in HDG were better than my friends on post)......... You have to love your job to work it sometimes but it beats unemployment.
Good luck with the rattling windows.

First Leria: Your name says you live in Woodbridge VA. Maybe you have APG confused with Quantico. Also if you have live here for 30 year you would know that a huge portion of APG is civillian contractors. I live in Aberdeen myself. I've been here 2 years now and I don't even notice the booms! I live about 2 miles from APG. If you don't like it, move away. They aren't going to close down because a civillian doesn't like hearing booms near her home. Try living on a military base. And to let you know, most military bases are not out in the boonies so they can be there to protect us civillians!

Daily Horoscope for December 29

Aquarius

Be careful now, because you could easily give someone the wrong impression and not even know that you're doing it. This is most likely to happen if you're trying to pussy-foot around them or avoid offending them, because that's when things could get lost in translation. You also have a tendency to sit on the fence now, which could make you seem slightly untrustworthy or shifty if you aren't careful.
