Hello Ken,
I was watching your show and you spoke of a women who got an estimate of $7++.++ for a brake job but did not have a written estimate from that company to prove the outrageous price they tried to upsale her for. The name was not mentioned I assume due to the fact of not having the written estimate from the said company. How funny!!! I do not know what company she visited but I would like to tell you about my experiance with Suntire at 9950 San Jose Blvd. in Jacksonville. I happen to have a written estimate from them. Basically they tried to put the screws to me in the same manner as the women in your story. I DO have a written estimate in the amount of $771.00. They acted odd when I requested a written estimate. The estimate they gave me does not have their name on it BUT DOES have the addresses and telephone numbers at the bottom for all the Suntire stores in Jacksonville. I would love to fax you the estimate I was given. I would also like to tell you that when I visited that Sun Tire store I came home in SHOCK!! I am a single person who lives alone. I do not have the income to support such fraudulent activity. I spoke to a male friend of mine who knows about cars. He put brake pads on the car and that was all that was needed. I used to think machanics just took advantage of women but they do it to senior citizens and other unknowledgeable men as well. Please let me know if I can be of assistance to you and I will fax you my estimate ASAP.
Sincerely,
Theresa Grey Davis

Dear Ken,
Recently, my family went to Restlawn Cemetery to
put flowers on our family members graves & they literally had to dig the markers out of the ground. My sister went to some of the workers &
asked for help & they told her they weren't
working, they just there. They also found where
a lady was buried against her 7 week old daughters
grave. Please contact me .
sincerely,
Kurt Kraus

Fred, I think you should probably call Ken at the station. Never seen him say a thing on this site.
Call Consumer Affairs through the city of Jax.
They may be able to help you.
Sounds like you are dealing with an unlicensed repair shop.
Would love to know who did the repairs?
You can sue them in small claims court as well.

Dear Ken,

I live off of Greenland Rd. My concern has to do with my next door neighbors they have a very uncontrolled and hazardous pitt bull. I own a pitbull mix my self so I am sensitive to their love for the dog how ever 5 times this dog has either tried to or has bitten people down our road reports have been made but nothing seems to get done my son nor other chldren can go out side because of fear they might be attact neither the police or the humane society will take action they were told today if it happens again they would take the dog. After five times in less than 6 mos. should it really have to happen one more time. I would really like to know why this dog is allowed to keep every one inside.

Dear Ken,

There is this advertisement that I see every day on T.V. about this guy who helps people in the Jacksonville community. He said that if you have a problem you should write him and he would help you out. I have written this person twice with problems and he has never answered any of my e-mails. These have been serious legal issues, which this guy boasts that he is an expert on. Is this a form of false advertisement, or is the guy just a giant douche? His name is, ummm, well...it's YOU!!! So tell me, how black do I have to be before you will help me?

Based on what you say, I'm surprised someone hasn't shot this attack Pit. Anyway, below is the Florida Law that pertains to "owners" of dangerous dogs.
(Living off Greeland Road, their is a good chance the property owner has "homeowners" insurance. I'm sure their insurance company would love to know about these bites and/or the Pit Bull on the premises.)

Florida State Statute- 767.04 Dog owner's liability for damages to persons bitten.--The owner of any dog that bites any person while such person is on or in a public place, or lawfully on or in a private place, including the property of the owner of the dog, is liable for damages suffered by persons bitten, regardless of the former viciousness of the dog or the owners' knowledge of such viciousness. However, any negligence on the part of the person bitten that is a proximate cause of the biting incident reduces the liability of the owner of the dog by the percentage that the bitten person's negligence contributed to the biting incident. A person is lawfully upon private property of such owner within the meaning of this act when the person is on such property in the performance of any duty imposed upon him or her by the laws of this state or by the laws or postal regulations of the United States, or when the person is on such property upon invitation, expressed or implied, of the owner. However, the owner is not liable, except as to a person under the age of 6, or unless the damages are proximately caused by a negligent act or omission of the owner, if at the time of any such injury the owner had displayed in a prominent place on his or her premises a sign easily readable including the words "Bad Dog." The remedy provided by this section is in addition to and cumulative with any other remedy provided by statute or common law.

Hmmmm, I guess I could try that. I was hoping that he would assume I was black by my last name. I have one of those names that can be either, ya know...like Williams, Smith, Davis, and Jones.

I'd shoot the dog in "self defense" and then sue the owners for the dog bites and mental anguish.

Dear Ken,
I moved from Jacksonville to Atlanta, Georgia, because I lost my job in Jacksonville. The apartment complex is sitting on the apartment I use to live in to collect a full years worth of rent from me.
I do not have the money. Should I declare bankruptcy before the complex takes me to court?
Please contact me.

I'm not Ken and I doubt he will answer you on this site, he is somewhat of a waste anyway. The website you are on has nothing to do with the TV station...you need to call the TV station to talk to him or email him direct.
First thing, you should look over the 1974 Florida Landlord Tenant Act that you can find "on line" at MyFlorida dot.com .
You can see what's legal and what's not. You may find a way out...or at least have all options in front of you.
Declaring bankruptcy is the last resort.

Dear Ken,
I inherited my hemorroids from my Grandfather on my mother's side. They hurt me every day in a way I cannot put into words. Do I have any legal recourse against my family, or am I doomed to live out this genetic curse?

Sincerely,
Aching in Arlington

I have Platinum Protection. They came to my door about a year ago and installed everything for free. The thing they don't tell you, though, is that you have to sign a 3 year contract with them. When I signed up with them, I asked if I could cancel anytime in case their service sucked, and the guy told me yeah, no problem. But the contract I signed says 3 years, or you have to pay the whole 3 years to break your contract. Other than that, the service is pretty good.

Rule #1, don't agree to anything from someone going door to door. This is not the 1960's anymore. Do your research and don't be taken by these hacks.
