I am 71 years old and have paid taxes and insurance for over 50 years. I was retired by a local major employer and not advised that taking early retirement would prevent me from getting paid medical insuranse in retirement. I enrolled with blue cross blue shield of florida and have paid all fees since enrolling. I recently had a problem with hearing and since i live alone left florida to stay with a frind while nI convalessed of and on .
Irecently recieved notification that blue cross was cancelling my prescription coverage because i had moved out of the area. I own a home in lake city and have no residence anywhere else but have spent a lot of time outside the state recuperating and visiting grandchildren.
After recieving letter I refilled two of my prescriptions at wallmart pharmacy and paid 4$ per prescription.
I then checked my blue cross reciept from prior co-pay their explenation benefit form and it showed that i had paid my 5$ co-pay fort two prescriptions and they had paid $ 36.50 cost for same 2 prescriptions .
the numerous formes and mailings are confusing and frighetning has our government gone mad. my blue cross no. is H29676593

Ken, I guess this is more of a question, than a comment. How is it, that oil prices on the stock exchange continue to drop, and the price at the pump continue to go up?

I had my roof replaced(with a metal roof) four years ago by Window Supply, Inc dba National HomeCraft, of Central Florida and my roof has been leaking ever since. I know I read, in your column (on the internet) as I live in Port St. Lucie, FL., about another couple who has had a similar problem, with the same company!! This roof had a lifetime guarantee and it appears Window Supply, Inc. has gone out of business as all of the phone numbers, I have, have been disconnected. Is there anything I can do, NOW?

The best thing you can do now is make sure all of your walls are water tight and now you have yourself a huge swimming pool.

Ken I pass through Pt Charlotte/Punta Gorda on my way to work every day and use to hear a really major market sounding radio station. Which was music to my ears instead of the same ole same ole reduntant radio that one hears all across the country. This station was the best! WBCG! They had a program director G Michael Keating that programmed the station like nobodys' business. He was a 33+ yr veteran broadcaster and now the station just sux. Do you know what station he is at now? I hope it is internet so I can at last listen once again to a station programmed by some one who knows what programming IS about! They even have some chick on that is a wannabe broadcaster that won't leave her shell. Unbeknownst to her? Peeps are begging her to please leave that shell! Without her juvenile banter maybe the station can at least sound like it did before G Michael was let go by those corporate CC non broadcasters. I ask you....why would they let go a veteran and leave a nasal whiney wannabe?

I am now a few states away from FL for a short time because of family health issues and thought I would ask. It's not like I am missing anything - except the radio station that use to kick arse!

Normally I answer for Ken, since he doesn't read any of these, or help anybody, for that matter. However, I have no smartass response to this question. Congratulations, you have stumped me. Good luck on finding out where this guy went.

Until you have attempted to volunteer your services for the benefit of the children of the Jacksonville community, you don't know what frustration is. As one who served the Jacksonville community in the Recreation Dept for 20 years,I can only imagine what those associates that I once worked with would feel about the many negative changes in public Recreation. Programs that we dedicated our lives to develope have either died or been destroyed. Now I want to give my time to help a group of children in one of our community centers in a very needy neighborhood, but I have encountered very frustrating difficulty in getting myself and others authorized to work with these children. What should have been a simple process of background screening has been an ordeal that has been dragged out over several months. It makes you ask yourself, is it worth the headache? How can we make this process easier?

Ken, I saw your piece on HDTV. Why don't you tell everyone the truth? A corrupt U.S. Congress accepted bribes from big business and passed legislation forcing Americans to convert to HDTV from a perfectly good system. Now the elderly and the poor will suffer so big business can rake in billions and and our U.S. Congress can get big checks from them to get re-elected to their corrupt positions. America is becomming a Banana Republic right before our eyes. Ken, if not you, who will have the guts to inform the public?
