We didn't buy there for the golf course anyway. We got a great deal on a beautiful home, great neighbors and live on a lake where we can dock our plane. When I am there I walk the cart path around the golf course so we are still happy. Would make a great go cart track! LOL

Thanks for the info, I will pass that along to the neighbors.

Lived here since last year. By far the best place to live in Florida. You think it's overpriced here, try spending ten years (like I did) in Miami/Ft. Lauderdale. This place is a hidden gem. I hope it stays undiscovered until I can afford to buy and retire here.

I have lived in Ponta Gorda for 34 years and let me tell.... This place sucks big time. There is nothing for young people to do. If you are over the age of 50 or older fine live here. if you younger then 50 run while you can and dont look back. The fishing sucks and tooo many northeners come down here and hog our roads and hafe of them can not drive.

I'm curious to know about Deep Creek. The homes there seem very reasonable. I have seen some for the amount your lot was appraised for. It is really confusing, as my husband and I are trying to figure out how we can move to the Punta Gorda area from the Chicagoland area. Is Deep Creek a nice area?
I presently live in Port Charlotte, Fl. a hop, Skip & a Jump from Deep Creek. It's a very nice area. Reasonable Home Prices. I live In Kings Gate and thinking of selling my home to move closer to work. As a former Chicagoan It's a great place to live.

Of course! But they can afford it!
Do you read the newspaper, or just form your own arrogant decision, while resting your elbows on the local bar?.
Why does Florida rank number three in foreclosures?
And why did the news report, that the State of Florida is dismayed, over the results of the 2010 Census that the white American no longer is coming to Florida.
Their increases in population stems from immigrants from other countries.
And if it's so wonderful, a friend of mine paid 250k for his house. Now it is appraised for 89k.If he can sell it, all he wants to see, is a sign saying "you are now leaving Florida"
If I knew who you were, I would buy you a news paper, because your to cheap to buy, and read one your self.

This from a guy who lives in a area where the median single family home price is $568,000. Murphy's law by the way, is "What can go wrong will go wrong." Kinda like San Diego county housing prices.
From your words, you indicate that everyone here came from a housing market, much higher than PG.
If you didn't live in PGI, and have your little social click, maybe a nice foreclosure would be right up your alley. Just forget the people that once loved their home as well, but thanks to people like you, are now homeless.
After all it's paradise...for the rich and famous. I question how much did you donate to help those less fortunate than you.
Or were you the one wearing a thousand dollar plus gold chain around your neck, begging the Salvation Army for food...I still have you golf course photo.

79,900. IN JANUARY 2006, I HAD THE 23,000 LOT
APPRAISED FOR 220,000. I RECEIVED OFFERS EVERY
MONTH FROM REAL ESTATE AGENTS. I LIVE IN PENNSYLVANIA, PHILADELPHIA, I COULD NOT TOUCH A NEW SINGLE HOUSE FOR LESS THAN 5000,00 WITH MY NEIGHBORS LESS THEN 20 FEET FROM ME. I HAVE ALMOST A ACRE IN DEEP CREEK WITH A GREEN BELT IN THE BACK. IT DEPENDS WHERE YOU LIVE. MY ROWHOUSE
IN PHILADELPHIA IS VALUED FOR 225.000. SO I GOT A
BARGAIN. I WAS IN THE RIGHT PLACE AT THE RIGHT TIME.
If your heart can stand the shock, see what it's worth now. It seems to me,that your one of the greedy.
Just have it appraised now,and repost.

Port Charlotte and all the surrounding cities need to stop and smell the coffee. Realistically, most people can't afford the homes because of it's ridiculous price; like Murphy's Law- What goes up--must come down and it's finally showing, slowly but surely...
Really Murphy's law??? It's whatever can go wrong will go wrong I believe your thinking of newton's 3rd law of motion??? Not real estate

We moved to Punta Gorda a little over a year ago from Kentucky. We love it! Yes the summer was hot but I was in KY visiting last June and it was 103 degrees there! Welcome to PG!
