If a person has power of attorney then that person assumes the right to act on their ward's behalf 100%. Its not stealing, its hers to take as she see's fit. How on earth could the court say she's stealing from herself?????

It's gonna get thrown out.

This is a common occurance up in Schuylkill County. Contrary to popular belief the seniors, who led thrifty lives, have a lot of money in the bank. I know of several cases in which people tried to hook up with older relatives of several of my friends. When my mom was sick about 30 years ago, when my siblings were teenagers, a woman moved in to my mom's house under the pretext that she was going to help out. I was living out of state at the time and we eventually got her to move out.

The thieves track down vulnerable elderly people and then offer to do housekeeping, drive them to the doctors or move in with the senior. They know many seniors have bank accounts and have paid up houses.

It is good to see that the police up there are catching these crooks in the act. This is another example of larcenous women who seem to thrive in Pennsylvania.

From Bethlehem, you had better check the laws on Power of Attorney. POA does not give the person the right to spend someone's money at will; she was supposed to take care of the woman's medical bills and then reimburse herself for reasonable expenses realted to her POA.

If the defendent was in the right she would not have been indicted on two felony counts.

There's another story here that's being overlooked - what happens to the victim now?

Here’s a shocker - the victim is often re-victimized by the system claiming to be protecting them - via a forced guardianship.

Guardianship wards are stripped of all rights: the right to decide where to live and whom to associate with, how to spend (or save!) one's own money, accept or refuse medical treatment - or even ask for a second opinion, vote, marry, etc.

Most important, guardianship wards are stripped of the right to complain.

With the fox guarding the henhouse and the hens muzzled, guardians and their attorneys can easily unjustly enrich themselves at the expense and detriment of the very person they have been court-appointed to "protect".
