I am writing with great sadness in regards to the Feb. 3 article, "Woman jailed after infant found 'unresponsive' in Jackson Park": I am an Early Childhood Education student at Peninsula College, in Port Angeles.

Thank you for the artical Shoona Radon. You are going to be one of the "good" teachers. Its in your heart. We need more like you. I know your message is bound to help. One issue that I see in the "system" is the lack of support and service information for people other than a childs parents who are raising a child. Grandparents who have the role as 2nd time parents don't know where to even begin to start looking for help. They feel lost and alone from the start and most are also having to deal with the shame and anger that arise from the problems that lead them to have to raise the grandchild. Maybe, we all need to be more aware of the "hidden" feelings of lonely, fear, shame and anger and work to provide more information on services and supports for the ever changing "family".
