too many border patrol here send them to the Texas/Mexico border where the real problems are. Quit harassing the local Latino population. The majority of them are hard working people and not bothering anybody which is a lot more than I can say for the agents here.

How productive can a person be if they won't simpy legally become a part of the community? What bennefits will they receive themselves?
There are many reasons for going through legalization.-To check their background and have records for correct populations to receive the correct amount of government money or funding the community.
If they are illegal, they are illegals and they do not improve relations for the hard working, honest foreigners who do it the proper way; the legal way.
Yes, there are more border patrols needed on the south border "Annie Oakley", but they are needed on every border. There is a high percentage (not all), that don't seek legalized citizenshp because they have criminal records etc. So, obviously exceptions can't be made just because of an area, nationality or the North or South border of the USA.
You have to ask yourslef,'Why do they prefer not to become a legal citizen in our country if they are choosing to live here among us?"
Don't blame the border patrol, they are just doing their jobs.

Ps. Annie Oakley,
The guy in the article was an Asian, not Latino who was arrested-not that it should matter.
And the boder patrol are often tipped off by other citizens for a complaint of one kind or another.
And one more thing, if foreigners come here to make money and purposely don't become citizens, they usually take the money back to their home country. Where exactly do American citizens bennefit from that scenario?

"NatureGirl": Very well said. I concur 100%.

To others with "Annie Oakley's" mindset: "Bystanders were shocked"?? Well, yeah, they usually are when something like this happens - we've become too complacent; they think it should happen everywhere else except 'our hometown'. Good grief!

Kudos to the Border Patrol for doing their jobs! I'm glad. Maybe if this happens more often, we would have less problems with illegal immigration? And those who are here illegally will get a clue and either go home or get legal.

Personally as a taxpayer I am tired of picking up the bill for illegals. And I'm sick of those people who have the mindset that it is tolerable. IT ISN'T! Unless YOU want to pay for them yourselves, fine... just don't make me.

And to those who are blathering that they were "shocked to see productive members of society arrested.: Illegal is illegal, it should not matter if they are 'productive' or indigent. Would it matter to you if someone stole your wallet but didn't get caught? It's still illegal, whether they get caught or not. Geez.
