Forks car-pedestrian crash appears to be accidental, undersheriff says

A Sunday morning crash in which a 20-year-old woman was hit by a car on a Forks street was apparently an accident, Clallam County Undersheriff Ron Peregrin said Tuesday.

i personally knew mary and i think the whole thing was not accidental . my boyfreinds dad lives up that road and many many times i have walked up and down it on the dark and i just dont think it was all accidental.

I find it appalling that the undersheriff sees this as an unintentional ACCIDENT. There is NOTHING unintentional when it comes to drinking and driving a car at excess speeds. I don't believe there are many drunk drivers who intend to kill people but they absolutely intend to drive under the influence and the result is 40 some thousand deaths every year in this nation. In my opinion it is negligent for law enforcement to make such a statement before the investigation is complete - particularly when alcohol and speed are suspected.

correction - there are around 17 thousand deaths from drunk driving every year, but the point is, every single one was avoidable and none were an accident. Impaired driving is a crime.
