I was told that his brother shot him, which of course was accidently...rumors say they were both on drugs. It is such a sad thing for the parents to go through.

My son was at the trailer park that night, he saw Shawn in the bed after the shooting. He was talking with some of the people who were there and also heard Jermey's girlfriend's side of what happened, whom I understand was in the room when it happened.
Joshua and Jeannie are right.
According to what I was told, Jeremy (aka "Droopy") forgot the gun was loaded. But, they were drinking, so it is logical that he had not remembered. Jeremy, was playing around, and did not intend on shooting him. Shawn had recently moved into the trailer with Jeremy, they were buddies, no arguement took place. He wanted shawn to get out of the bed, but was playing with him. Jeremy was scared, already on probabtion, and just felt really bad. Imagine that you had a few drinks a accidentally shot a good friend. I understand that Jeremy had considered commiting suicide, but was talked out of it, thank God. I do hope that everyone that was involved, and the friends and family of these 2 guys realize that this was a tragedy, and hope that they are all blessed with lessons to be learned and hope that maybe, somehow, they will all find comfort in some way. I am so concerned about my son, it could have been he, who was shot. He was friends with both Droopy and Shawn. I send my prayers out to anyone else who knew either one of these young boys. I hope my son learned from this experience. I am just sorry that at such a young age that tragedies like this occur. God Bless!

I heard it was no accident, and he was in bed so how did his body get in the hallway like one article said.Shaun was sick and had taken some cold medicine and Geremy wanted him to get up.You don't get out a gun just because someone's in your bed. I also heard that Geremy,s family has influence there. Why was he only charged with manslaughter.Shaun did not deserve to die.And for his mother she put him out and he was still only 16. She's no angel. We'll miss Shaun and the truth will come out.

To the mom of Shaun, you should be ashamed of yourself for not having taken better care of your son. We all know what happened and why this happened, because he was not taken adequate care of while growing up. Shaun was not perfect, but you become a victim of your environment, which was you and how you raised him. When a child is raised around filth and drugs, that is what he comes to think is the right way to do things, now he is dead and you cannot take back what you did to get him to this point. He was a sweet, beautiful young man whose life was cut short. And for those people who say it was an accident, keep your thoughts to yourself. The only people who know for sure is Shaun, but of course he is not here to tell us the story, how convenient, huh! Of course you are going to say it was an accident so you dont have to pay for what you have done, just like the parent he was supposed to be living with. He was 16 YEARS OLD, too young to be out on his own. And what were they doing with a gun in the house? If you knew he had a gun, you should have done something. I hope you blame yourselves for his death because it is on YOUR hands and you will have to answer for it one day, I hope soon!

I knew Shauns mother growing up and what this has become is shameful. Why wasnt he living at home is he wasnt kicked out? If I am not mistaken, kids are our responsibility until they are 18 years old. You have control of where they live, so if she didnt kick him out, why was he not at home with his mother? I am so sorry for the family of Shaun that is here local, his father. I can only hope and pray that the boy who intentionally shot shaun in cold blood will pay.

you people that are downing this greving mother should be the one's that are ashamed. every parent makes some mistakes when they are rasing their kids. i don't personally know shawn or his family but i am sure that they don't need you heartless people putting the blame on them. and as for it being an accident you don't know what happened the only people that know what happened are the people that were there. you people have no right to be lashing out at shawns mother. i hope that you will one day pay for being such a cold hearted bitch to someone that is hurting and greving the loss of their child. and as for shawn's mother my thoughts and prayers are with you and your family at this difficult time. i have dealt with this type of thing not to many years ago and the shooting also happened in poplarville so i know what kind of stuff you are going through. if there is anything that i can do for you please feel free to ask.

It is not surprising to me to see that people on the outside would judge this situation, but I have been watching the articles and know first hand what is going on with both families. As for the person who responded by calling the other a bitch, clean out your own back door. You should be ashamed. You are probably a friend who had DEALINGS, if you will, with the mother. It doesnt take a rocket scientist to figure out the answers to this puzzle. First and foremost, the kid should have been supervised by his mother, grieving or not. She should be blaming herself because if her job as a parent had been done, maybe this wouldn't be happening. Second of all, it would make this world a better place if the boy stayed in jail and/or took care of himself in his own way. He is just going to end up getting drunk or high again and hurting someone else. If Shaun was your son, you would not be sitting here calling other people a bitch and feeling sorry for the mother who evidentally didnt know how to be a parent. I hope the boy rots in jail or hell

I have to agree with packrat. If it was your child, you would feel completely different. A 16 year old should not have been living with a 21 year old on probation. How do you pick up a gun, point & shoot your "friend" & then "Oh, I forgot it was loaded." If this guy was on probation, it seems he would have been more careful of his actions.

Thank you country girl. These people who are defending the actions of the persons involved have alot to learn about being responsible. Noone knows what really happened except Shaun and the boy who shot him and Shaun cant be here because he is gone due to the actions of the other one. It is pitiful.
