Well,I have read all these post...and with that said. I started working in law enforcement with both Tim Campbell and Matt Barnett approx 16 yrs ago. Both of these guys were and still are good officers and I wish all were like them. I witnessed Tim Campbell while on patrol find a homeless woman and 2 kids sleeping in her car and took them to the store and took money from his own wallet and bought them food and gas.(how many people still care for others like that)Tim was always the one to give the shirt off his back for a friend or stranger in need. He had a huge heart.
Now as far as Matt Barnett goes he was always nice to everyone. He as well would do for others. All the other officers that worked with them were blessed because they had no problem putting their life on the line for a fellow brother and they did many times over the years. As far as the mistakes i'm sure that they both made some but who hasn't. As the bible says those who are without guilt cast the first stone. To Tim's brother...I loved Tim like a brother of my own and the world lost a wonderful person and I know with Tim's heart and good deeds you will see him in heaven again one day.
God Bless all Law Enforcement They Put Their Lives On The Line For Others Everyday!!!

Wow... It just kills me that some of you would say these things about my dead father, Tim Campbell. My dad was a fine man. And was respected by MANY people. Its sad that you can sit here and talk shit about a dead man that cant defend himself...

Matt Barnett is no longer a Pearl River County Sheriff's Deputy. He was fired by the previous Sheriff after he was issued a police dog, then left it running loose on the highway after a traffic stop, and it was run over and killed. Barnett then remembered the dog, went back and picked up the body and buried it at his house. When he was questioned by the Sheriff about what happened to the dog, he lied and told the Sheriff it just mysteriously died. The Sheriff sent people to Barnett's house where they dug the dog up and found that it had been run over by a vehicle. The Sheriff fired Barnett, and he was hired almost immediately by Steve Garber, the sheriff of Hancock County. Barnett quickly brown nosed his was to an investigator position, then got promoted to lieutenant. During that period, he brought on a fellow Pearl River County Reject, Tim Campbell. Campbell, like Barnett, didn't take long to rise through the ranks, due to his exceptional brown nosing skills. I have personally witnessed both these so called "Law Enforcement Officers" conduct illegal searches of vehicles that they had pulled over with absolutely no probable cause. Both of them are close friends with Brennan Necaise of Hancock County, who just happens to be a big time methamphetamine producer who has been arrested numerous times for drugs. So, don't think all the shady things only happen in Pearl River County. In fact, I'd say Pearl River has a long way to go to have as many drug dealers and good ole' boy dirty corrupt cops as Hancock County.

Don't even bother! There is nothing there. Only 3 people know why the reason for all the calls and this is none of your business. He did nothing wrong and and it got taken the wrong way. The board even has talked to him about it and was shown a copy. lets not be the disgrunteled ex-employee. What you did to get fired was your fault. I was told that you had a stress breakdown but what would happen if you had another, someone could get killed and the department could be at fault. Bobby, dont give into these people, its not their concern. Find something else to do Jason and be a man and take responsibility for yourself! God, please grow up people!!!!!!!!!!Acting like a damn bunch of school girls..Drama, Drama!

Oh, and before you start talking about other people, how about explaining what you did to get fired....leaving out the words "stressful breakdown" before passing judgement...You left that all out didnt you??? Go ahead, give us the whole truthful story about yourself...
Easy going

I look forward to hearing from you!!!! R.I.P Tim Campbell

If you would like to know how Chief Matt Barnett is doing in Wiggins, pick up a paper. Every week, he and his department are getting offenders off the street. He must be doing something right. According to an article published in the Stone County Enterprise, May 17, 2012, quotes, "The Wiggins Police Department has been asked to furnish information about the dop in violent crime in the city. WPD Chief Matt Barnett received a request from the Federal Bureau of Investigation to enlighten them as to how his department achieved a nearly 50 percent reduction in burglaries and aggravated assaults." If you would like to read the article yourself, it can be founda t .
I personally know Mr. Barnett. He is a man of integrity. This integrity is demonstrated regardless of on duty / off duty. He is also a man of compassion. He would help anyone in need. He would probably even take the time to help those of you on this site who have made negative comments about him.
In closing, Jason Parker, I cannot believe that you would hold anyone other than yourself responsible for the termination your position with the Wiggins Police Department. You demonstrated the lack of integrity in front of me on several occasions. Writing an elderly man a ticket for pulling up to the front door of Wal-mart to pick up his elderly wife and their groceries. No, he should not have been stopped in the fire lane. But you, having taken the oath to serve and protect, should have gotten off of your motorcycle and assisted the elderly in this situation. You had to use your badge to make a point. I hope that noone ever treats your grandparents as you did that elderly couple. I have seen you in other situations that me just shake my head. During those times, I was embarrased for you, because you obviously didn't have the mentality to be embarassed for yourself. I wish you the best in your future, but law enforcement was not your calling.

I'm Matt's son and Tim Campbell wad my uncle. For years i have looked over this post with disgust for some of your actions and words said. I understand that everyone has their own opinion, and that is great. With that being said I would love to put my opinion in as well. My Uncle Tim was one of my dad's bestfriends my whole life. I called him my uncle my whole entire life, and he treated me like I was his son. When my father would work weekends my Uncle Tim would take me hunting and fishing. He was a good man and taught me many lessons of respect and courage. He passed away a few years ago on my birthday. He was a great man and I miss him dearly. He was a great officer and went the extra mile to serve and protect. My father is a great man and has always provided for me and been a good role model. Within the last five years he has had many prestigious achievements in law enforcement, which i'm very proud of. I'm pretty sure if you personally have a problem with him you could settle it like an adult and find a reasonable solution. On the otherhand my Uncle Tim is now in heaven, watching down on this ridiculous post. Therefore if you have some words to say, or issues to resolve with my Uncle Tim, my name is Austin Barnett, contact me at [email protected], and hopefully we can resolve them. I wish everyone would react and respond with respect, RATIONALITY, and dignity within this post. I as a family member of both of these individuals hate to read this, but Uncle Tim has three children that do not need to read ridiculous JUNK about their father, and neither do I. Like I said, Contact me and we can resolve this. Prayers for all of the ridiculous commentors on this post. May the lord NEVER let you be put through this. God bless

ABC, I am so happy that you got the first three letters of the alphabet correct. The Wiggins Police Department is not the same department that it used to be. The Wiggins Police Department is more professional now than it has ever been.

ABC pick up a newspaper, or you can conviniently go to the stone county enterprise's website, and read about the Wiggins PD. The articles do not match your statement.
Wiggins is clueless

Oh yea cause we all know that newspapers always print articles with clear and accurate facts with no bias! Instead of picking up a newspaper, why don't some of you go to the courthouse and see how many of the people charged with crimes are actually being prosecuted. Compare the number of "true bill" cases to the number of "no true bill" cases. I think alot of you will be disappointed. Coercion, arrests being made with not enough evidence, and improper case handling/building, and improper paperwork have plagued the department in recent years. Honesty in the leadership is unheard of within the police department.
