I heard the Rowland boy married to the dentist gal is running. Anybody know for sure? I'm not sure who all is running this time around. I've seen signs for Mike Price, Hardy Billington, Sheila Calvert and Jessie Gray.

When I think of Jesse Gray I think back to my 7th grade science class and him picking his nose and and flicking the boogies LOL.

Dan Ward is also running again. I've seen his signs all over town. At least he actually cares about the school and the kids instead of upping his social class. I believe he's been on the school board for years. He is a nice guy with the experience to understand common sense. He's got my vote.

Hardy Billington and Mike Price are both trying to be re-elected. The others that are running are: Kenny Rowland, Jesse Gray, Shiela Calvert, Scott Vaughn, and Dan Ward. Price and Billington are currently serving and have done a fine job. They will get my vote. Their agendas aren't so strong that they can't stay focused on moving forward. Some people are on the on the
board to feel or look important and don't really care about progress or making things better. They want to be noticed. Steve Sells is power hungry. He has two signs in his yard: Gray and Vaughn..........no way I'd vote for either of them.

Why is K. Rowland running? He has his kids at Sacred Heart school and teaches there. I know he has a son going into the high school, but what about the other two? It seems his actions don't support his intentions.

you might want to get to know or ask about the people running for school board. I hate to think I wouldn't vote for someone just because someone that I may not care for supported someone. Good people have all kinds of supporters. You might want to find out what the individuals are running for before you vote for someone that doesn't havr your kids best interst at heart.

Fine Job? What are you talking about!! They both voted in favor of purchasing the property behind Cripple creek for over 50K an acre. They are nuts, this is a last ditch effort to claim that they are doing something for the schools. The voters will have the sense to vote this down and two new board members in. The district doesn't need leaders like them.

<quoted text>
Since you are so knowledgeable, where exactly would you purchase property for a new school. If you get too far out, people gripe about it being too far from their home, if you put them out by 5th and 6th Gr. center, people gripe for fear that if something happens then everyone is concentrated in one spot.
There is virtually no property in the city with enough acreage to accommodate the size facility for the school and grounds to be in compliance. They have to have so many acres for playground for ever so many students and that's just for starters. While there may be other sites, maybe by the time development cost are figured in to the bottom line, it would be worth it to get the PP Hwy. land due to its great location. So unless you know a lot about land values and rules that the board must comply with by the state I would suggest maybe you should make yourself a little more informed before making statements that are obviously made with an obvious lack of data. And since both board members have been on the board we have two new huge additions and a third in progress at three neighborhood schools; and all with a tax rate of $2.93. What a joke, Dexter is has the closest tax rate to us at $3.32 and its less than half our size. Oh, and don't forget the new buildings didn't cost taxpayers an extra dime by the way it was structured
