I wanted everyone to know not to use thier service. I bought some furniture in May 12' for $1500 and been making payments monthly of $160 and had paid over $1700 already and when i went in to pay the furniture off they said my balance was $1080!!! If i wouldnt have paid if off until the 3 years like they set it up i would have ended up paying around $6000!!! I dont know what you think but i think thats ridiculous!! I would suggest arrons if your going to have to rent to own! They had an Ashley sectional living room set with 8 pieces for a buy out price of $1200 but if you paid monthly in 2 years you would only end up paying $2230!! I was so mad that i got ripped off so bad just wanted to make sure no one made the mistake i did :(

They got some serious chunkers working at Hefner's. We just call it Heifers. Cuz they are the kinda women who have fat hanging out of the sides of their shoes.

Its called revolving credit and theoretically it is not intended to be paid off. Every time you go into a place like sears, JC Penny's, wal mart,...etc and they offer a discount to apply for store credit, what you are signing is a contract for credit with low monthly fees and high compounding credit. With rates as high as 27% charged on the total outstanding balance. Lets say you borrow 1500 on one of these accounts the interest rates for unpaid balance is 21% and your minimum payment is calculated on 1.5% your actual accumulated interest for the month is 163 and some change. So if you agreed to a 150 payment you would increase your debt every month.

Stores are not banks they are merchants looking to sell products. The furniture you buy has to either be paid for or make profit over what their line of credit is with their supplier or they would go out of business.
Now if you want to borrow money for furniture or other big items, it is best to go to a bank where you can get an installment loan. An example, a one year loan on 1500 dollars at 10% interest your monthly payment would be 137.50 while only paying 150 dollars interest plus lending fees.

Hefner's is no different then any other business that offers in store credit. Even rent to own and arron's have you hooked, that same sectional at a retailer is usually half price or less then what they are selling it for. Plus there is no guarantee that it has not been used by 4 other people.

It is a shame that the government doesnt do anything about predatory lending, but it is perfectly legal. So the best defense to protect ones self from being ripped off is to be patient and save the payments you would have paid and buy out right, educate yourself on their practices, and eventually if everyone did this they would all go out of business.

Did you not read the terms of the contract? It shouldn't have been a surprise unless you just signed on the line without bothering to read the contract. Next time, wait until they do their no interest promotion for 3 years and just pay it off before 3 years is up.

I put my appliances on layaway at Sears. It is a good deal, works just like K-Mart layaway. I got better stuff on the internet sales Sears has, than in the sales circular.

I agree RAC is very expensive. I had a icebox there and found that i would save 700 dollars for the same one at aarons. I didnt have good credit so I told RAC to pick up their icebox and got the one at aarons. after I payed it off in a year, RAC ws 2 years by the way, they even reported good credit which i dont think RAC or RENT 1 do.I dont know about the West Plains store but the Aarons here in the Bluff is a very nice place with good people. Yea it is still higher than buying it on the spot but Aarons is cheaper than putting it on a credit card and cheaper than RAC and Rent 1 by far

Only a fool or white welfare trash would try and get credit at some place like Rent A Center or any of those other rent to own stores.

Why not open a savings account until you have enough to buy it?

If you can't manage to save a few hundred dollars, you get what you deserve.

Yes you are. Everything in your post says you are. If you weren't you wouldn't have to buy from places like that.

we NEVER buy from there unless theres an interest free deal...like interest free for 2 years, and we just make sure it is paid off within two years or so. common sense.
