OK,heres the story: I was in Spencers Gifts the other day and apperantly this female employee was hitting on me. She kept following me around (ignoring the other customers) and pointing out things she thought I would like. Now the neon streak through her blonde hair didn't really bother me,but she had a HUGE ring through her lower lip! Ugh! Am I just being old fashioned? She wasn't that bad looking, but that ring was a big put off. Any opinions?

I find that type of thing very attractive. A female with the type of self will to be able to modify their body and be ok with it is just sexy. I myself have several tattoos and in the past have had many piercings but even before then I found body modification sexy.

I think your just to country. And you know what they say about girls with tongue rings...

Of course they may have just been following you around "being helpful" because you looked out of place and they assumed you were going to steal something. That's probably more likely than the hitting on you part.

Wasn't smart ass at all. It was an honest answer, I agreed with you and pointed out the most likely reason for them following you around.

Same as if I went into the camo store with my tattoos and piercings they'd watch me.

Once I was in the grocery when the hottest dude I'd seen in a while was in front of me in line- when all of a sudden he turned around and had the biggest hole in the side of his nose, like I think they call it gauged- So my daughter and I were kinda talkin' amoungst ourselves when the cashier overhear us and said she knew of him, actually he went with one of her girls, her being black I could only assume that she (his girl) was black too,'cause she made the comment, "Thata keep him from rootin'" I just dropped the whole thing and thought, What a waste & dang the decisions we make! Tats are ok if they can be covered with some type of everyday clothing, but piercing turns my stomach unless it's in ears - and 1 or 2 holes only!

WTF! Digger is a girl too! What the hell is going on in this joint... 0_o
And I do agree about the covering the tattoos part. I have many (well over 50) but when I put on a long sleeve shirt and a tie I can walk into any job interview and look like the guy next door. I thought about that way ahead of time and chose not to tat my hands or neck. In the event I win the lottery or some long lost rich relative leaves me a ton of money to live on I may just tat it all up but until then I still have to think about real life and regardless of just how tough I'd look, I've got to be reasonable and think about getting and keeping a job to support my family.
As for piercings though I say go hog wild. When you realize you're too old for them you can always take them out. Unless of course you've stretched beyond the point of no return.

My sister has piercings and a tat, and I still love her.(Sometimes I wonder why though, lol)
The thing is, she can cover hers up any time she wants and you would never know the difference. Some piercings I don't mind. Like ears for example, but when you start piercing things like your tongue it just becomes a major turn off for me.
Tats are cool when you are young, but when you get old your skin isn't what it used to be. You get discolored and wrinkly and so do your tats. My grandfather was recently buried. He had them all over his arms and he told us to make sure he was buried in a long sleeve shirt. He wasn't happy with the way they looked and I wouldn't be either.

I do find some of them kind of gross at times, like my sister always playing with her tongue ring, but I can usually get over things like that.

I've never had the desire to get any....let's just say that.

Some of you know my hubby bass fishes, loves it and can't get enough of it; I always wanted to get a bass on my a$$ and under it in small little letters write,"Does this bass make my a$$ look big!" I tease hubby and ask if he'd like that!

Well, everyone has opinions about tattoos and piercings. I am in my early 30's and i have tattoos. I am a professional that have them in areas that can be seen when I want them seen. My husband has about 20. People will judge you and follow you thinking that you are some just got out of prison going to steal all you got person. with piercings it is worse. I personally love them but society is more mainstream and think that you are automaticly scum. You would be shocked about what the lawyer you are talking too has under his shirt!!!

When I was about 17 ( about 10 years ago ) I wanted my tongue pierced because all my friends at the time were getting theirs done. So I did it. It was cool at first but as I started to get older I didn't like the attention from it so I took it out. I had my nose pierced once and only had it in for about 3 hours before it came out and i lost the ring. The people with big holes in their ears and noses.....that's to much. But tats and piercings in moderation to me, is okay. I, personally, don't judge people based on where and how many tats and/or piercings they might have.

I myself can handle a few tasteful tats and ear piercing; that's about it. I just find tats all over a body to be a big turn-off. Same with a bunch of piercings. One of my daughters plays with her tongue ring all the time-just grosses me out (which is probably why she does it)!

Tattoos and body peircings are ment to be exotic and spiritual, with every peircing you get (no matter the extremety) is ment to be a reminder of
your mortality. and the pain of doing so is a great feeling. i am into a whole lot more than peircings and tattoos, i love branding and scarrification. check it out

That may be all be true but lets be honest, most people with a barbed wire tat or some tribal trash or a tramp stamp is just getting junk on their body for no reason.

Scarification and branding are also interesting body mods but to me are a bit to much. I'm not in a tribe and I don't live on the Serengeti so I'm just not amused by either concept. I'm also not amused by dermal punches or ear scalpeling. If you're going to stretch do it the right way, not rush into it.

What have I done to personally offend you? Please fill me in.

So what if I have an opinion about things? So does everybody else. My opinions are not all negative. What makes me different from you or anybody else on Topix? Because I'm sarcastic? Because I can be hateful when pushed to do so? Because I have an opinion and don't hesitate to express it?

There is nothing wrong with being country.. I'm about as country as they come, but I have 2 tattoos and 9 piercings, and thats not counting my ears. Everything of mine can be hidden, and when people find out I have stuff like that done they can't believe it because I guess I just don't fit in with the type of crowd you would expect to have all of that done. I will tell you though, when I go into places like Spencers and Hot Topic, I feel like a big poser, and that they are staring at me. But I guess you have to get your body jewelry somewhere! lol

If you get a tat, make sure it is one you will want to keep forever because the removal is vicious and very expensive, i know first hand! three small letters, 3 treatments so far with more to come. about $250 so far, such a mistake to get someone elses initials! I wish i had gotten something neutral which i would have kept, cuz theyre cute!
