I took the nln rn pax test 2 weeks ago, got my score in the mail today, I only scored 104 composite, possibly low because I did not buy a study guide and I took classes over the summer at the college. does anyone know what percentile this puts me in and if I have a shot of being accepted? Thanks in advance :)

I forgot to mention there were over 300 applicants and I live in Bloomfield, Mo, so I am not in the college district.

you took it for the night program then. with there being 15 spots to fill that score will still be on the low side. i do know of a few out-of-district people who got in a year ago with scores around 112-115. nonetheless, your percentile does not determine getting accepted b/c that is throughout the whole country. the only thing that matters is how you scored against the other out of district people. my prediction for you is 5th alternate or worse--sorry

thanks for replying. I actually would prefer the day program, and as I mentioned I took summer classes and did not purchase a study guide, just sort of winged the test. I will probably go on ahead and take the A&P class this semester and try for the day program in January, this time I will study for the test and I should score better. Thanks again.

to do good on the test, be able to break the words (for the reading and english part) down so you know what they mean without the prefixes or suffixes. also, if you over study the math you can't go wrong. overstudy, meaning study tougher math problems than what you saw on the test. if you can remember the types of questions from the science part that will help you also. FYI-the second time I took the test it was the exact same test as the first one...word for word throughout each part (math, science, and reading) so try to remember what you saw on the first one and look up some of those word origins and definitions--good luck in the future

I actually did pretty good on the verbal part. I suck at math. I am going to take Int Algebra over at TRCC and see if that helps me out. I am also considering the lab tech route,,,think it may be less competitive.

Stoddard county was originally part of the district of the college but the taxpayers had a fit and voted to be removed from the district. Bad move. Now the students are paying the price because the college only takes a limited number of out of district students in the nursing program, so I understand.

I actually have a friend that got a 100 on the test. She thought she aced it (like 100%)...bless her heart. I have heard that 125+ is the benchmark for IN DISTRICT students. I don't know about out of district.

It is WAY less competitve. However, they only take people every other year. The more education you have, the better your chances will be. You definately need Int Algebra at the least! I highly recommend buying the book, but it's something you cannot study over night, not even in a week or so, so I would start now even though the next test may be 6 months away. Also, I've heard that the GED book helps! Good luck...Keep us posted!!

Oh, I thought the lab tech program was offered once a year in May. Do you know if the entrance test is any harder than the nln rn pax?

I have no idea, but I know it's easier to get into the program and many people that don't get into the RN go to the Lab Tech.

Out of district. I will go to the evening program starting the Spring semester. I have everything else done so I will only have nursing classes...I hope that makes the program a little easier for me :)

Has anyone here been though or is currently in the RN program? I have all the gen ed stuff done, I have 30 credit hours thus far. I will only have nursing classes, have A&P out of the way. Will this ease the load and make the program a little less stressful? I imagine the nursing classes themselves are pretty tough without adding to them.
