that pitbulls are NOT allowed in town! The only thing is people like to come and dump them in the country now or shady people move into the country because they can't keep their pitbulls in the city limits anymore. This is a breed that is dangerous I don't care what you say against that, it is the truth!

Get rid of all pitbulls, they are dangerous and a threat to the community. If you want pitbulls so bad, move.

I think we should ban pitbull owners. Apparently they are the ones raising these dogs to attack and maul children and old people etc. Wake up and look at the statistics. More reportable dog bites are from pitbulls than any other breed. Maybe it's because so many pitbull fanciers are also assholes? Thism breed seems to appeal to the lowest sector of the human genepool.

Sorry, pitbulls are vicious animals, they were bred for fighting. There might be a few of them that are gentle but I've seen many accounts of a loving family pet attacking or even killing a child in the family. Pitbulls are dangerous and cannot be controlled, get rid of them. The people on this forum represent the community as a whole, the vast majority do not want them around.
Absolutely Not

NO to pitbulls in the city limits. You want one? Move to the country and keep them fenced on your own property, away from everyone else. When one attacks your children, then your children should be removed from the home. And, don't be saying "I've never had a problem with my pitbulls. They are as gentle as lambs, never aggressive." Because 95% of owners of the ones that do attack say "I'm shocked. It's never behaved like that before." Like it such a HUGE surprise. They are DANGEROUS! No responsible human being would let them near their children or anyone else they profess to love.

I live in the city limits and i know for a fact that the people across the street have 2 pit bulls. Also, i keep seeing a black man with a pit with a huge chain around its neck, i'm only guessing that his dog is used for fighting. People still have pits in the city limits and seem to get away with it.

So call animal control and report these people.

They are not dangerous YET, I've heard that story too many times. People who have dangerous animals around kids and they hurt those children should be sent to prison. I agree, all the dangerous breeds should be banned.

We have always owned pits and never had a problem. But we also have a fenced yard and make sure ours don't run loose. We've also owned small breeds, and those are the only breeds we've had that have actually bit our children---specifically pugs. I understand both sides and unfortunately the actions of a few have affected the breed as a whole.

I've seen mean pits, rotties, small breed terriers, labs, and chows but only the pits get all the news stories about them. We moved from a state where you can't even find homeowners insurance if you own what they consider a dangerous breed. There's like 7 breeds that make you uninsurable. It's crazy. Until pit owners as a whole become more responsible, more cities will continue with the bans.

And the poplar bluff ban didn't affect current owners. You did not have to get rid of your pit. You had to get them chipped and you cannot purchase another pit when your current one dies. Eventually the city will be without them. I'll tell you this, two pits hitting the front door and slamming into the windows when someone's walking around your house is a much more effective crime deterrent than any alarm system sign.

Pitbull Lover, You are not going to convince anyone of anything until you learn to spell and punctuate a sentence. You just look like a semiliterate dropout who likes dogs that bite. That is not going to turn anybody's mind around.

Any dog can be dangerous after all they once were wild.

Perhaps this can settle some of the dispute about the temperment of pitbulls.

By the way, I don't knock your pit, don't knock my chow.

Why should they be treated the same when they are different? Toy poodles are stupid, but they can't bite your hand off. Did you ever hear of a Pomeranian killing a baby, or a shi-tzu mauling a child? Me, neither.
