MOST churches are not bad, its the people within the walls that make them bad. I was told one time by a very wise person "don't let the actions of men or women get between you and God", "If you do it reveals the weakness of your faith in him". There is nothing wrong with pointing out to those people that they are between you and god and put them in thier place. Worship in your heart and through your actions, not through your reservations. Stand proud for your faith and the lord shall stand proud with you. I hope this helps because it wasn't meant to hurt. Praise god and help all mankind.
I alway thought a church was a place for sinners. And since none of us are raptured yet I guess that's what we all are. Self-righteous christians will cause more people to stumble down the wrong path than the people they bring to Christ.

I can't believe how many people have to type nonsense. The person was just asking for ideas on a good church. They weren't asking for stupid comments like the one about John Dunivan and people dancing on poles.
In my opinion, I have went once to the Palace of Praise and found it wonderful. Brother Kent Miller is a great minister and the service is very upbeat and it seems to me that they are very welcoming. They are down off of PP highway and it is the church that looks like a mansion on top of a hill.

Kari5 Is Correct. Candy Is My Beautiful Wife, Who Is A Good And God-Fearing Woman. Should I Really Need To Defend Her On The "Looking For A Church" Thread? Come On.

I Don't Feel That All Churches Are The Same And As My Wife Mentioned, We Looked For A Long Time And In A Wide Area Before We Found Springhill. Finding A Church Was Our Determining Factor In Where We Moved To Southeast Missouri. We Needed A Church That Lined Up With The Bible And Taught Straight From The Bible. Really, I Didn't Say All That To Plug Our Church, But To Encourage You To Research Several Churches. If You Are Honestly Seeking God, The Holy Spirit Will Lead You Where You Need To Be.

You're Never Going To Find A Perfect Church Because There Is No Such Thing. But Even If There Were, You Shouldn't Join It Because You'd Mess It Up. ;)

May God Bless You In Your Search For A Church.

I attend the Palace of Praise and have for 5 yrs now. I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE it!!! I have never felt such a close bond of family and togetherness as I do now at the Palace. Bro. Kent Miller is the most wonderful anointed Pastor Ive ever met! Randy West is also a wonderful anointed assoc. Pastor and our youth Pastor Josh just rocks! If any of you remember the young girl who was in that car accident back a couple mos ago, Lauren Capper, that girl had a heart for God! I didnt know her very well but from what I heard from her family and friends she really had come to know the Lord and was on fire for Him after coming to our church. We are always hearing how you can feel the presence of God in our church, and it's true! Im not just saying that because I go there, I felt it the first time I ever came to the church and I never even knew anything about the flow of the Holy Spirit! Every service is like a rejuvination to my spirit! It doesn't matter where you are going to go to church as long as it's teachings are biblically correct! As I said we have wonderful pastors, we have a fantastic and anointed choir, a rockin worship director and praise team, wonderful youth and childrens church workers! The little ones even know their scripture better than a lot of adults because they actually do encourage them to work on learning them! Our motto is "A Place to Belong" and I knew from the time I walked in 5 yrs ago, without a doubt, that I do, indeed, belong! So come out and join us at the Palace of Praise.

Sunday AM: Sunday school 9:30 & service at 10:30
Sunday PM: Eve. Service 6 p.m.
Wednesday: 7 p.m.
YOu can also visit our church website at Hope to see you there and God Bless!

1st of all, it is really sad that someone's genuine request of a question got turned into something dirty. I wouldn't go to any church that would allow people to talk the way most of you do on this forum.

To Sir Reads-a-lot: Westwood is a great church. It is the baptist church that is located off of the outer road north of town. They have a school. They are a very friendly church. They are a bible believing church.

What? A person is searching for a place to worship, and as far as I can see, the last poster contributed his opinion, and ONLY his opinion!

My husband is the youth pastor at the Palace of Praise. We have been attending for 8-10 years, respectively. At any rate, I was raised southern baptist. I was graced enough to get a good understanding of the word in the Southern Baptist denomination but felt like I was missing out, and needed more. When I started going to the Palace (formerly 9th and Cedar) I found that missing link. I found a church that had direction- and I felt for the first time ever that I really wasn't just a bench-warmer. Good luck in your search. We'd love to have you visit us sometime!

Are there any really decent Baptist Churches in the local area? I was recently transferred here and am getting my family settled in. We'd like to attend a smaller Church with a relaxed friendly atmosphere. Thank you and God Bless!

Try Westwood Baptist, they are a good down home Baptist Church that preaches the Bible. You will like the church.
