Too many bbq places don't know what good bbq is. Why? Most people don't know either. BBQ meat has to be smoked to be really good, and not too fat. The sauce needs to be a little sweet, and not too hot or spicy. This place used to have a rather good bbq reputation, but not anymore. The best bbqs I ever had came out of a gallon jar. It was bought that way. Jess's knew.
By "this place" I meant Poplar Bluff, not Smokin'Aces.

I am very good friends with the owners, they are great people. Rowdy the husband is also a preacher. They do a lot of things for a lot of people.

I don't like Hayden's any longer its to high for what you get. Smokin aces is good and probably the best in town. I think they need to offer more choice of bread but that easy to fix. Keep up the good work.

I used to go there when it was under the other name. Can't think of it now. I noticed that the meat then wasn't smoked. I guess that's why.

Horrible!!! The food was average at best, and the place is not very clean. The guy that owns it is weird. He's from Fisk. He's the guy that stood in front of the train and got hurt a few years ago.
When did this happen? I think you are referring to something else at another time.

Is this the "Rowdy" that was/is a contractor? The one that has stolen money from people that he was supposed to be using to build their house? Like the one over by O Neal school? He and "MIckey" are certainly a pair. A pair of thiefs.

And like you said, too pricy for what you get. Their other stuff seems ok. I watched them make the cherry lemonade once and the girl was sure slinging the sugar. Wonder if they have a diet version?

I don't know about stealing anything. He is a good honest man. If anyone ever needed anything he would kill himself to help them. I've known him for years and have never heard one bad thing about him. So I don't have any idea who you may be talking about because this guys isn't what you describe at all !!!

Ya they have a (P. L) with Splenda or some kind of fake sugar. One time they gave me one by mistake. They make a bunch at a time now. And they are watered down because the ice melts. Not to mention they had this fat nasty white girl up giving her black ole man free sodas while I had to wait for my stuff for 15 min till they were done talking and I guess he was tired and thirsty cause he walked there. That place has went to the dumps. I'm glad smokin aces stepped up with good food PB needed it.

Well it IS the same man and I can tell you this, you do not know the person that you are defending. He hides behind his label as a preacher. But his actions are not the actions of a man that truely serves my lord.

I have eaten there, and the food is decent. The ribs were tender but I must have just had inside meat when I ate the BBQ sandwich because I didn't get the smoky flavor. Their sauce was really good.

It's a bit too high. Cheaper than Dexter BBQ and Haydens. About the same price as Branding Iron. Over all I prefer Branding Iron.

I have an issue with the amount of smoke in there. With the pool tables, poker games and gambling machines I think he would be better off turning it into a bar instead of trying to make it a gambling restaurant. Just my opinion.

You said it all here.. I did not know Rowdy Boyer was the excuse me not owner but leaser of the place and that says it all. Yeah he might be a Preacher and yeah some might like him, but when I was going to Church the Lord's Chapel back in the 90's he had a cocky attitude and he is not the so called best Preacher man example in the world. And we won't ever go back down there anymore as the man that came outta there one night when I (and the only time) I had to take a cab the man said the G.D word and said they let the customers say what they want to and they let them talk the way they want to as well. And the fact of it is I went there 2xs with my family in the past prior to this incident and yup they were saying such ugly words to be supposidly a family place.(AS IT USED TO BE WHEN THE SPENCER AND FAITH CLAN OWNED IT OF WHICH Customers and the help respected each other on the language and they respected the customers and the customers respected the language part or they did not go in. So we patronized the place. But also goes to show you as well that if ROWDY BOYERS is a Preacher then why are they selling BEER there? Yeah some Preacher sell people beer and take a chance of someone leaving the establishment and maybe killing someone due to being drunk!!!!! ROFL!!! Now there ya go... Mr. So Called Preacher Man put that in your pipe and smoke it. And if someone ever does leave your establishment and kills someone due to being drunk they their blood and dead bodies will be on your hands and in your mind and soul for the rest of your life...!!!!!!! We will continue to go to the Branding Iron as they have great bar b que and fish!!! And politness and yes there is alcohol there but they don't claim to be a PREACHER neither and they have no cussing up there as well though.!!!!
