My husband was in sears and he said it didn't work for him at all. Now our son is in sears and it doesn't seem like it's working either.

Well at least you are carrying on the family tradition, maybe the pen would be a better place for your son.

I think the sears program is a good thing and no it dosen't work for everyone but most kids that go in there are there for really bad things sexually misconduct, fighting, stealing ,rape It's a last resort for kids to straighten out before they are adults and end up in prison or dead.

Bottom line-yes if the child wants it to work and the support system is there. Why are you asking? Do you have a child there? If yes, you need to stay in touch with the staff there, know what is going on with your child and visit as often as possible. A troubled child is painful to anyone who loves them and there are no easy answers. I will pray for you.

Sears is a great place....THe staff is what makes the difference, the family involvement, and guiding these children and leading by example is so very important. It does not stop there either. The kids are held accountable by there peers. Amazing enough most kids want to do right thing they need positive direction. If I was you, I would call the center and ask for a tour. THey will let you see how it is rtan with approval. If there is a juvenile officer involved go thru them first.

It is a great program for youth that have been adjudicated. Actually the division has recently been recognized as the best in the united states by the anne casey foundation." which represents the harvard kennedy law school" the program is very family friendly and supports all aspects of concern for teens. Give it time usually the success rate is in the 90% range. It is tracked by several major universities. although it will depend on the youths willingness, along with family involvement. hope things work out for you.

hmmmm...maybe, just maybe if a father AND a son end up in a facility for delinquent youths, then i'd would say there is something wrong with the upraising and a little discipline and order in the household could help with that!!!

The lead staff member of the area where your child is housed will meet with you. Just give him/her a call and let the staff member know your concerns. Document you conversations so you can follow up, if needed. Good luck.

Ask them for the number of success stories they have. I know of at least two non success stories.

You seem like a sincere parent. Your child is lucky to have you. The staff members of the Youth Services (Dept of Social Services) work for you, hold their feet to the fire. Stay in touch with your childs team leader and your child. Visit as often as you can. Also, the atmosphere the child will be released to is important not only to the child, but it is also important to the court and Social Services as they consider the decision to release the child from the program. All the usual things (food, shelter, etc) must be in place. Schooling is important, stay involved. If possible, you and your child might consider a good bible based church-you'll be welcome at any christian church you choose. Good luck and keep up your energy and involvement. God bless you.

you are right sears is a good place i was in the girls group and i love it there it was like my home away from home you just have to get use to it and i mean the staff is always there if you need to talk . they talk you through your problems and plus if you don't have a car to get there then talk to your kids d.y.s and they will work something out with you and like i said before i was there and my group was like my family. and i still talk to some of them. and i thank the sears program for everything.

I hope and pray the program helps ur kid.
and when i was there yes i get kick and the girl put her nails in my arm. and yes the group does have control of the fights and kids that run away.
but if the staff see that it is getting out of control then they will jump in and help .
but if ur kid does get hurt they will ask him if he wants to push changes but i hope that doesn't happen to your kid.If you don't main me asking how old is your kid? and how long is your kid there for? i was there for a year and 2 months and for every day i was there i was always think about where or what my family was doing and if my mom was going to call me again and she always did.
but that was what i look forward to everyday.
