I can tell you one thing. Go ahead and break the law, shoot off your fireworks. Some of us will be praying for you to give an account for your disobedience and unconcern for others. I feel sorry for you, independence and all. >(8^P)>

Some states don't let you set off fireworks at all.

Who determines a "burn ban"? If PB is relying on the good judgement, civic pride and common sense of it's citizens, this town will burn like Rome.
Sure, the sign on Smoky the Bear says very high, but we have many who are illiterate or themselves "very high".
Pass a ban, hand out tickets, haul in a few with active warrants, what's the delay?

Read the yesterday's newspaper - it says fireworks and burning are discouraged but are allowed. I'll bet you 100 bucks that fireworks are currently allowed on the 4th.

According to BCSD fireworks are allowed at this moment-but that can change any minute because the heat situation is only getting worse..

Like I said before, fireworks are illegal in the city. The only fireworks allowed are the large displays with a permit from the city.

Can anyone tell me if the fireworks display is on still? The big one they do every year. Just wanting to know because my grandson wanted to go. Even though it is shot by black river it could still catch something on fire. Someone told me they had cancelled it?

Really how many burning embers fall on spectators during a show? As long as the area they are detonated in is wet down the fireworks burn in the air and do not produce any real danger.

Bottle rockets are probably more likely to produce embers than a mortar ...

My goodness! It's right down there by the river. You got all that water to fight a fire. Get a bucket brigade going with all those people standing around. Yehaw, roll em, roll em, roll em. Ya got no excuse unless it rains.

What about the rest of the city? Some kid shoots of a firecracker or a bottle rocket and the grass catches fire and spreads. What about some braindead twit that goes out into the county to celebrate and sets a field or a woods ablaze. To quote a local official " if some of the fields catch afire we will be like Colorado but we don't have enough fire equipment in the area to contain a large blaze." Common sense people will take care but, we are surrounded by the brain dead.

It is already against the law at any time to shoot fireworks in the city limits. You want to make it double illegal?

The city of Grandin had their fireworks for the community at the ballpark. The fire department sprayed water and wetted everything down real good and was there on stand by. Why couldn't something be done like that at the bullfest?
