POPLAR BLUFF, MO (KFVS)- Two people have been killed in a head-on collision on Hwy. 60 in Poplar Bluff.

A woman was traveling eastbound on Hwy. 60 about 8 a.m. Tuesday when she tried to pass a car, swerved, went across the median and hit a black, Chevy truck traveling westbound on Hwy. 60, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

The names and ages of the victims have not been released other than both victims are adults.

Westbound Route 60 in Poplar Bluff is closed between Route T overhead and Route 67 overhead. Traffic is detouring off of Route 60 onto Route T, according to the Missouri Department of Transportation.

The roadway will be closed until further notice.

Drivers are urged to use extreme caution near the area and to use alternate routes.

Heartland News has a crew at the scene. Stay with Heartland News and kfvs12.com for updates.

Thank you all for the info. My heart goes out to their families. This is a horrible tragedy. I was on my way to work this morning when the road was closed and was just curious as to what happened. I did see the vehicles and this they were just awful.

Kfvs12 shows the vehicles one was a black chevy truck and the other seemed to be a little white car of some kind or what I could tell of it anyway

Or it could be someone they might have known from school or place of employment. You're probably the kind of person who goes to church and then talks shit about peoples' problems afterward. Eat a dick.

This post started about 4 hours ago with someone reporting an accident, and look how the remarks have disintegrated. What is wrong with people? Why are they so rude and unfeeling? Something is going wrong in the human condition.

People are gonna be curious about who died. That doesn't make them nosey. It's human nature. Not a thread to be acting ignorant.

ITA with your first sentence, 2 VERY close family members of mine were driving to Dexter this morning & had I not been able to make contact with them I would have been frantic & likely would have asked the same question.
It's a vicious cylce on topix, people get tired of trash-talk(understandable, yes) but then they get overly defensive & assume everyone has ill intentions, which leads to more bashing, & so on & so on.....

Jack was a very good friend of mine. I and the family I'm sure would appreciate it if you would keep all bad or silly comments to yourself. Jack was just going to work minding his own business and out of nowhere this happens. There is a young son tonight whom has lost his best friend and father. Jack was a good man, and will be missed dearly!
