we had the sunday buffet today, it was great. from quiche, lasagna, catfish, many delicious vegetables and salads, then finished off with their homemade cinnamon rolls. ben rocks! and if dont like a buffet, they still have a lunch menu available, from specials, prime rib sanwich, burgers, pasta dishes, and of course, the homemade desserts. keep up the good work ben! and thank you to the Tinsley family for making this happen
And that's another thing: I thought they were supposed to be an Italian place. It actually seems like they serve everything. It's like they're trying to be everything to everyone. Half of their restaurant looks like some sort of sports bar, while the other half looks like a "fancy" restaurant. All the while, they're playing pop/rock music over the speakers. Bottom line: it just seems like they're all over the map. I'm not gonna say Castello's is horrible or anything like that, but I don't think they deserve a whole heck of a lot of praise either.

And why keep mentioning the Tinsley's? Do they need the publicity? And I guess I will say that Castello's is horrible. At least, they were on the day I ate there.

If it was before this past Tuesday....it wasn't under the new chief or the new menu.

Who exactly are the "prestigious Poplar Bluff people?" I sure don't know any. And Costello's is definitely NOT fine dining. You must not get out much! Poplar Bluff is a dump and there are not ANY "fine dining" establishments. I'm not saying Costello's or any other restaurants in town aren't good, but I think you may be taking it just bit too far.
Prestigious meaning: Lawyers, doctors and bank presidents. I have eaten at many fine dining restaurants and Costellos is Poplar Bluff's fine dining. It is well above parr for this area.

The Tinsley's have been mentioned in the original post and the one I quoted in Post #21. I was just wondering why they had been mentioned. I'm not Jim. I don't even know who the hell Jim is. All I know, is I was at Castello's a few weeks ago and it wasn't very good. Now, there may be a whole new menu since I went. I guess something changed this past Tuesday. Maybe now, Castello's is better. I don't know. I just know it wasn't very good when I ate there (factoring in the mediocre food, poor service, and price).

I know for a fact that the price of the lobster tails have come down. My hubby orders the steak and lobster (usually) when we go.

Under the old menu it was like $45 just for the lobster tail. That is about the price of two lobster tails under the new menu.

They also have about 4 different types of salad. I loved the new one they had on there, can't remember the name, but it had the black olives and artichokes. IT WAS DELICIOUS!!!! Also had the shrimp bisque....it wasn't warm enough for me....but a quick word to the waitress and it was fixed.

That's the only thing I have and it really isn't a negative comment. Those things happens sometimes and they were very polite and quick to fix it.

I have noticed that people have a problem with their one and only experience at this restaurant. In my experience, you pretty much have to attend a restaurant a couple of times before you know if you like it or not. I couldn't tell you what my first impression of Colton's was, or Perkins, Ruby Tuesday and Applebees...because they were so busy and inattentive that we couldn't get service. We were pretty much faced with one option after our first visit to these restaurants, go back when the hype is over, or keep that first impression. We of course went back, no i dont like Ruby Tuesdays or Perkins...just because of the food-not cold, not to pricy, i just didnt like the selection. I like Coltons, and I like applebees. My advice for those of you going on your first impressions, go back and try it again before you try talk badly about them and possibly cause them to lose business.

For those of you who don't like the idea that they go by two or three different genre's of atmosphere, they do these things to suit people. I have traveled across this entire country just to see the same thing in big cities, small towns, and even little holes in the wall type of places. I am sure; however, they might like to know what you would do to improve the environment in their establishment. Make a comment card and leave it for them.

5 of us went there last night. The waitress was very efficient and sweet, the food was way below par. We have always enjoyed eating there. I went there 3 weeks ago and food was wonderful as usual. The spinach dip was awful did not even look good and the waitess agreed. The cook (not a chef) said he would give us (1 of us, we share appetizers) a free desert. None of us eat desert so I asked them to please take off tab, they did.

One person ordered prime rib sandwich med. rare.

Terrible, could not recognize it as prime rib. Welldone, dry and tough. She sent it back but they only discounted her 50% because she ate a couple of bites. How do you know it is good or not unless you taste???

One thing was good 2 of us ordered chicken and dumplings. They were very good. I think maybe this cook is very good on that type of food and rolls but not other menu foods. We do not know this cook and mean him no harm, but he and his employers do need to know before they start to lose business. We have never had problem with prices there because we always food was always exceptional. Not sue we wil go back but I would like to give them another try I hate not to be able to go there. It is truely a shame that no really good restaurants make it in PB because they are not consistant.....Sorry meant to put Castellos at top of this opinon.

They just redid the menu, they went down in price actually!

Went there for the first time today and really enjoyed it. Wasn't too busy, friendly service, didn't wait for anything. I'm going to go there during dinner soon and I want to try their buffet too. It was really delicious.

Oh move away! You wont find that here. We are pretty much country if you havent quite figured that yet. I remember a little restaurant that tried that genre of food....didn't last. The restaurant was called Andrea's if im right.
