Was wondering why Nordyne is hiring all these people from other countries instead of the Americans that need a job? Its been said that they won't let their full-time employees work any overtime but yet "these foreigner" can come in on their days off and ask to work and they will let them!! Thats BS!! Let the americans have the jobs! But yet, the personnel lady said that they weren't taking any jobs away,,I think she needs to take a look at whats going on!

I've been told by people that work there and I believe it was in the paper as well that the Government is paying their salary which could be why they let them work ot

I don't know and I don't work there but I have HEARD (meaning could be true, then maybe not) that people fail drug tests or just quit all together because of this or that. In this economy I would just be glad to have my job. But like I said it's only what I heard.

Nordyne has a very high turn over. Most people can not handle the 12 hour shifts that the job requires. Where else in PB can someone be making 11.69 an hour after one year of employment? Nordyne is a good job, and has it's flaws just like any other job. IMO people that quit and walk out, really did not want a job in the first place.

They do have a high turn over,,BUT there are other places where you can make over 11.69 and hour over a years time. Seems to me that Nordyne is taking advantage of the government? So its alright to let these people work OT but not let the other employees work OT? Come on, don't you get it?

I figured someone would complain about this soon enough. Rednecks can't handle when people who aren't born here get jobs.

They're only filling seasonal positions. Lots of places pick up during the summer. And rather than hiring someone from the area, who would then have to be laid off at the end of the summer and have to look for work elsewhere anyway (when other places are slowing down, too, and work is harder to find), they can hire a student who is just here for the summer and then plans to leave anyway.

Sorry, but I'm no "redneck!" I just don't think its right for nordyne to hire these people from other countries when theres plenty of people who need jobs. So what happened to nordyne hiring all these people like it was stated awhile back in the paper? They put a freeze on the hiring but yet they can have these people come in and work, is that fair? And they did lay-off some of the seasonal help, but are they going to start hiring again? Not that I need a job, I have one!

They JUST hired my husband out there and he specifically asked if there were going to be any lay offs any time soon, and he was assure there weren't going to be. Then a few days ago we got this letter in the mail thanking him and all the employees for their hard work, and thanks to their hard work profits were up 8%. That was two days before he was LAID OFF!!!

Nordyne laid off everyone that was seasonal. The only ones they kept were the ones that were full time employee's and they laid off a few of them that were real close to pointing out. I heard the kept a couple of seasonal employees that have been there 6 months or more with NO points against them

My husband wasn't seasonal! And they DO have workers in there that don't speak English that got to keep their jobs and work overtime!

It was stated that the nonenglish speaking people were given a week to get their plane tickets to go home on. And we were told that a few seasonals would be kept but they would have to work nights

I love how people around here assume that those darn "foreigners" don't speak English.

There may be some, but many of the kids out at Nordyne spoke AT LEAST two or three languages. They had pretty strict academic standards to get into the program. Where else would they get hard working college students to work just for the summer? A lot of college students in the U.S. don't want to work that hard. And a lot of times those who are willing to work that hard aren't college educated.
