Now that school administrators have deemed it neccesary to forget their prized former principal E.T Peters, and name the gym floor for Tyler Hansbrough-Shouldn't they do the same with Fred Morrow Stadium and rename the field after Bluff's greatest FOOTBALL player ever-Derland Moore?
Or how about Sam Giambelluca, at one time, the NATIONAL CHAIRMAN of women's AAU?

I really don't have a problem with the renaming of the gym floor, but Moore was a college All American too and played 17 years in the NFL with the Saints and Jets..
Doesn't he deserve such an honor?

How about Tom Hoover, a high school All American basketball player at Bluff, and a former principal at the high school.
Two of the Moss brothers played professional football-Eddie with the old St.Louis football Cardinals and Leroy-on a team that won a Canadian Grey Cup Championship.
John Brown was a football legend at Bluff and a high school All American, so where's the love for him?
How about renaming the city golf course-the Buddy Godwin Municipal Course in honor of one of Southeast Missouri's finest golfers EVER?
While Tyler HAS undoubtedly had a very successful career so far in sports, is he any more deserving than some of these other Bluff sports legends?

Finally someone that sees that Tyler Hansbrough is not the only athlete from Poplar Bluff that has been sucessful. All of this Tyler mania has gotten so old and I will be glad when this load of sh!t is over.

I find it interesting that the city leaders did not have a day set aside to honor any of these other sucess stories. Feels like they have discounted the effort that these other examples have given. I fully understand that Tyler has worked hard and deserves what he has earned but I think that everyone is going way overboard.

The gym floor at T.R.C.C. was named after Gene Bess and even though I am not personally a fan of Mr. Bess, I see how he is deserving of that honor.

One more example that you might remember is John Gibbs,if you don't remember him, he was one of the most sucessful football coaches that Bluff has ever seen.

Give these athletes some deserved credit.

only problem with that statement is that John Gibbs was a basketball coach

You sound like a catty jealous woman. I haven't seen anyone say or claim that Tyler is more deserving than any of the others. Tyler himself would tell you that he isn't.

Why don't you volunteer to chair the committee to do all those things? I'm sure you will find plenty of help.

I NEVER said that Tyler isn't deservingh, so don't get YOUR panties in a wad.
What I PLAINLY said, is that others are JUST as deserving of having a field, golf course, track, or other facility named after them, and it hasn't happened..........

There's a big big difference. They DIDNT rename the gym. Its still and always will be Peters gym. The COURT is Tyler Hansbrough court. Just like TRCC is Gene Bess Court, not Gene Bess Gym.

The track has been named for Sam Giambelluca. For all his work he has done for the school and community.

It would be neat to see them name the weightroom or something for Derland Moore. That would be nice.

Where is "Polar Bluff"? Is that Santy Claus' hometown? You cannot rename towns or counties because they who discovered or founded the place, get to name it.
Unless you named it after yourself Buttlicker Queersville Jealousbitch, then you may wish to have a modern, less negative sounding name...

Sorry about that. I wasn't thinking! I knew that Gibbs was a basketball coach. Point is that he was a great athlete adding to the list of deserving athletes!

i agree in a way ,I believe Derland Moore has been overlooked nothing against Tyler but he hasnt played one min in a pro game and Derland played 14 yrs in the pros. Give credit where credit is do,dont get me wrong Tyler deserves everything he is getting but they should have something at the football stadium in honor of Derland Moore

I guess no matter how many times this is explained, your reply shows the sad need for cybereducation. It may say Warsaw,MO under the person's name, but they still could be in Poplar Bluff, next to you.Warsaw just means their isp adress is being routed through a number in that particular town. IT DOES NOT MEAN THEY LIVE THERE!

John Brown was All-Conference on defense and offense for 3years,All-State his jr year as a RB, All-State his sr year at RB and LB, plus he was an All-American, plus he was the Missouri All-Star Team Captain! Theres not a more decorated Mule in Poplar Bluff Football History. I Vote John Brown Memorial Field, nothing against Derland Moore, but hes not number one in Muleology when it comes to Football. The other Bonus is John Brown stayed Missouri all the way, not Oklahoma !

don't worry, in a few years we will forget who Tyler is too. See u in 2047 at the Barrack Obama sports plex, located off Martin Luther king road in the newly renamed town of polar bluff.
