Jim Brown has done more for Athletic Department at Poplar Bluff than most of the people in this town can imagine. Is he perfect, no, is he abrasive, at times, yes. But you will find no one who will work harder to promote our school than Jim Brown. He got screwed by a board that has an agenda. They should worry about updating the buildings, recruting teachers and getting rid of the dead weight in the teachers ranks rather than replacing a man that has worked harder at his job than anyone else in the system.
Coach Fraiser is an excellent coach and an even better person. Those who think you can produce a winning football or basketall program with the talent we have in Poplar Bluff need to get a clue. Do we have great kids, yes.But the athleic ability as a whole is just not there. I love my kids. Are they great athletes, NO. Are they average athletes, Yes. Am I proud of them, You damn right. Maybe some of the people who are so critical of the Coaches sould look at history. Ocassionally PB has had great teams. Tyler and Ben are the exception not the rule. MANY years ago , had a couple of winning ootball teams. Face it folks, our problem isnt just coaches, it's a lack of consstant talent. GET A CLUE, before you judge
what facts are basing this oppinion on. 23 yrs he put in. Accused of self benefit and watching girls. He is self promoting without taking responsibility, just like your post blames. When you take job it has responsibility to give the student athlete the best opportunity. It doesn't happen here. Brown takes no responsibilry for failure and claims recognition for any success or growth. Just ask him. Fraizer claims to be without talent and blames others for lack of success, why continue to coach? Move on!!! Go where the talent is and where you wanted. I for one think he has had enough time to prove the outcome to be correct, he can't motivate and teach the type of kids that are here!!!
Our administrators are also to blame. The atmosphere for education is horrible!! They lead by fear and push by blaming others. They are supior and could nit teach themselves. Hon was a joke as a teacher, Jackson never taught, clueless to the art or practice of teaching. Now that these are held accountable with same tactics they have been using, it's poor poor me!! Get people that are passionate and want success for our children and community, includes the teachers!!! Specific goals that are shared. Not ram down and mislead. Come on Bluff, you can do better!!!

This comment is regarding your post on Coach Fraizer. He one of the most outstanding coaches at PBHS. My son played BB for him and has a great deal of respect for him. What you said is right on the money. Coach Fraizer treats everyone equally. Often people commented why good players would sit the bench. Well, it wasn't a newsflash to the other boys on the team. Generally, practice was missed, grades were low and the student had not went to tutoring or they had been in trouble with the law in the past 24 hrs. You can't have a winning team when you have 3 or 4 dedicated players. Most of the kids are more concerned about which party they will attend on the weekend instead of perfecting their 3 pointer or their lay up.

Frazier was gone before the board meeting. His house was already for sale, he had applied for numerous other jobs including Mineral Area. He might be a great person, but he was a terrible terrible high school basketball coach. You didn't have to watch very many games to see that. His teams had nothing that came close to resembling an organized game plan other than "we are down by 15, lets hold the ball for the last shot" Great idea coach!

Talent is not the issue people...are you f'n kidding me? We have athletes crawling all over this town. The same type kids that live in Sikeston, Cape, Jackson, etc. Developing talent requires work ethic and if you look around this town there are so many lazy people that it doesn't surprise me that you all blame coaches. Athletic programs become great when you have a community that builds it. There are kids in this town that if we had the winning culture or atmosphere that is shared in other towns (you know, the ones who are winners every year) would come out for the team. If PB wants to have that it has to be built. I have lived here almost 10 years after leaving a community with successful athletic programs. None of them sacrificed education. The coaches were respected and ALLOWED to do their job. Bottom line is there are a lot of people in this community who want to look the other direction to place blame when all you have to do is look in the mirror. I feel bad for those who have lost their job, especially the hard working ones, but this is life. Put-up or shut-up. That goes for you too. WINNING REQUIRES HARD WORK! PERIOD.

I wish people would get as fired up about the academic performance of the schools as they do the athletic performance.

This AD does nothing but put the blame on the coaches and players just like you. As for Fraizer being a good coach and person, "right", who you foolin with that statement. The coach must be a teacher and develop and lead. He take what he as and molds, and motivates to get their best. Has not happened!!!!! Just like you he complains he has no talent
Are you serious? He has never once threw his players under the bus and told them to ignore popular opinion when people say they have no talent. He built them up and told them they were better than what people will give them credit for.. you have no idea! Ask the kids how he built character, instead of the parents upset about their average kids playing time. Or better yet ask Hon who it was in our community threatening to pull their money cause their below talent kid was not getting Coach Frazier's attention or varsity time. Frazier doesn't play politics and funny thing is this school just lost a new basketball facility with this move (love it!!!!). Guess Hon didn't do his research before going behind the board's back and trying to push a coach around who won't fall to politics. There are great kids here (not great ball players) and that is all that held that man here.

. I agree. We need to get rid of the non performing teachers. The school board needs community input on issues. Instead the schools have under achieving teachers, and people wonder why this school system is so bad. We are only as strong as our weakest link people. Until we expect more from the board and teachers, why are we so worked up about the sports program?

I dont know what the general feeling of this AD is around the community. Just transfered to this area 3 years ago. Does this guy have some finacial connection to the school district. I would assume he donates his salary back into the sports dept. Being how he contiues to come to work and not produce results. I have seen in the past AD replaced 4 times before finding one that was able to produce a winning team. Seems we just keep hanging on with this guy in hopes that things will change. He has proven his record time and time again. I say its time to look else where for a AD that can show winning results. And our children can be proud to be a part of something big.
Wait! So you're saying we should replace a coach because we aren't state champs? Or district? Is there a threshold we should be looking for? All student bodies must be made the same and it's only the coach's fault right?

I'm not saying that anybody specific is doing or not doing their job. But by your logic (let's be glad it's not a nation wide thought pattern) any time a school doesn't win a district, regional, or state championship, then they should fire their coaches and start over.

You do realize that with thinking like that, we would have tens of thousands of coaches needing replaced every year.

Now honestly, are you still believing what's coming out of your own mouth?

So explain to me how a kid whose uncle is a big donor got a small suspension for a drug arrest when another kid (not from money) got kicked off the team because he heard the kid had a beer.

Yes people know Big Ed went to the AD & it wasn't simply because his kid wasn't playing, it was because they were getting their tails whipped regularly and Coach Wooden uh I mean Frazier wouldn't even try anything different.

That's humerous....he never even looked that direction...Smart kid knowing that someone would repeat false information.....A coach getting phone calls from schools doesn't mean he interviews for them.

I didn't always like coach Brown but I always respected the job he did as AD. He was always in the wieght room not only with his wieht training classes but was also in the there with the football team. I remember he would lecture us if we did something wrong and have nothing but praise for anything we did right. I remember during away games in football he would always be at the other school even before the team was, now in my opinion that shows good professionalism. Now the school board has made a selfish decision in relieving a man who put his life into his job I wish them luck in finding an Athletic Director that is more dedicated to his job than Jim Brown. If some of the student athletes in the Poplar Bluff school district would display as much dedication in the classroom and in sports Poplar Bluff may have many winning seasons to come.
