I had an appointment with Jasper Edmundson but his paralegal called and told me they had to cancel due to a "conflict." Wish I knew what that conflict was, although I'm pretty sure I have a good idea.....ANYWAYS, do you know of any other good divorce lawyer..One that's not scared to go up in front of Jasper. I'm thinking my divorce is going to be an ugly one.....please help!

my ex son-in-law used Jasper, but Jasper turned it over to an associate. He might do the same again.

None of them, including Danny Moore. I would go out of town and find someone who isn't playing in the "good ole boy" club. Although I am sure that he is a nice guy, Danny Moore looked like a baboon talking in the courtroom next to my out of town lawyer. GOOD LUCK!

Sam Spain. He is definately not one of the good ole boys. He is very honest and doesn't like bs. In other words if he thinks it is a waste of time he will tell you and not continue to work on a lost cause so he can continue to bill you. By far the best.

Best advice in the world you can get at this point is most certainly get someone out of town. There are only so many lawyers in this town, and guess what, they are in court with each other every day, and pretty much all of them are friends! I have heard good and bad stories about Hackworth, but that would have to be my choice. But keep in mind he too is in town alot and has been up against everyone here many times as well. If there is a lot of money or property involved, you might concider someone from St. Louis instead. Anyone from this area has been in court with everyone else numerous times, so they are all very familiar with each other, and most of them are actually friends. So if you don't want your case decided before you even go to court, "i mean the lawyers decide who gets what for you" you might want to get someone from way out of town. Just depends on your case. This is the advise from someone who has been in court many times and knows all of these lawyers pretty well.

oh yeah, the conflict obviously means your future ex has retained them as his counsel.

The lawyers get paid to go to court, so it does not benefit them to settle your case. The reason that they try to settle is based on what a judge is likely to do at trial. The longer you are married, the more kids you have and the more property you have, the more the husband will have to give you. It generally comes down somewhere close to 50-50. Too many of my friends have gone through this so I know. If you want to take your shot at doing better, and are willing to pay the cost, go for it. If not, don't blame the lawyer for trying to get you a fair deal without having to go through the expensive cost and headache of a trial. It really is your call. Just be willing to pay. And don't complain if a judge gives you what the lawyers recommended you settle for way before the trial.

I've used a lot of lawyers in this city, and most of them have gone on to become judges. I guess the next judge will be Carl Miller. He gets my vote.

Yeah, I made an appointment and before my appointment his mother went up there and "retained" him. So they cancelled it. I just found that out.

What about Ralph Richardson over on B St.? I've heard he comes from a family of good lawyers.

Consider yourself lucky you didn't go with Jasper. Danny Moore is super, but the best is Hackworth. Expensive but more than worth it.

Hackworth is not a good divorce attorney criminal maybe but not divorce. Neither is Danny same criminal attorney. You can stay in town either Matt or Ralph will handle for JAsper he does nothing these days but take money. I suggest Steve Walsh or Scott Dale at Bloodworth. Both are good divorce attorneys. But divorce laws in MIssouri are pretty vut and dry and difference is if there are kids. But even child support is based on your last 3 years taxes and current employment and figured in the computer. Missouri is a no fault state 50/50.
