Hello everyone, I have been living in Poplar Bluff for a few years now and I keep hearing about these haunted places. One in particular.... The railroad tracks out on Wilcox Road. I have tempted to go out there but, I always chicken out. Has anyone else been there and experienced anything?

I done some research on it and did not find any validated information but, did find out that there was supposedly a train derailment in the early 40's. Rumor has that when law enforcement came in to investgate it there were some unusual deaths at the scene. A gentlemen that was decapitated and a pregnant lady that was missing her fetus. Pretty wack-o if you ask me. I have had a lot of people tell me that they have experienced things here. They claim to have seen visual apparitions of the pregnant woman in search of her baby and of the gentlemen searching along side the tracks for his head. Other claims stated that they can hear the train whistle and can see the lights of the train. Some have said that they have been forced off the train track. A friend of mine told me that she has seen a house in the field there but, when you approach it, it is not there. Kind of weird. I have also been told stories about the second floor of Hays Music store back when it used to be a furniture store. I have not retrieved a lot of validated information on that either. Just hear say.

I have not personally been to the Senath light but, my parents went out there. I actually done some research on that one and supposedly it has to do with some kind of radioactivity in the ground their and that is the reason batteries are drained or vehicles just die and do not crank back up.

I went to Wilcox w/ some friends about 20 yrs ago & we never experienced anything - we walked down the tracks but never saw or heard nything - but the stories sure capture the curiosity ... especially to school-aged kids!!!

anyone heard of the Homestead police dept. recently hiring paranormal investigators because the station is haunted? I don't believe most of what I hear, but I have witnessed it once myself. I would have dismissed it as nothing except there were twoo other people who witnessed it simultaneously. I still have trouble believing what I saw.

As teens we went parting alot out there, and never heard or saw anything... There is an overpass farther down the road, we used to stay out there all night when we werent able to drive, so if something could have freaked us out back then, it probably would have!

they big thing about wilcox road is , back in the 40s there was a satanic church that was out there , and one of the high priests lived in it , a lot of the rich people of poplar bluff use to go out there experiment so to say. if you walk back far enough you will see the old concrete flooring where the building use to be , as far as the train tracks go, i know that some tragedy did occur , as far the exact story , you should go down to the library or court house and try to find the records of it

I went to those railroad tracks, I didn't experience anything. I went there with some of my friends from the high school too and we managed to get our hands on some of those metallic rods and a makeshift compass. Rods didn't cross and the compass never turned in an unusual manner. I belivee it's sort of just a rumor, but maybe we just weren't there on the right night.
I read something about the second floor of Hayes Music Store, from when it used to be a furniture store. I know that building is fairly old, and I go there every Saturday, and have been fairly suspicious about its other inhabitants before it became it's current occupation. I've been upstairs and it's fairly old up there, the ceiling and wallpaper is original from when it was built, or so I was told by one of the employees there, and the stairs are very unruly, possibly also original. I'd like to check that place out sometime to see if the rumors were true.

I have went to wilcox many times and I believe that if you go there, dont just stop at the over pass and the train tracks keep going on into the field off to the left after the bridge or keep on going straight and there were corn fields that you could swear that there are children running beside you beware.
