Same as premeditated murder in my opinion. The driver made a conscious decision to drink and drive!

And this includes all motorized forms of transportation.

You know we have a funny take on drunk driving.

A man leaves a bar and hits a tree and he gets a relatively light punishment.

A man leaves a bar and hits the same tree only this time a bum is sleeping next to it and gets squished. It is manslaughter.

What was the difference in motivation? Responsibility? Or intent?

It is the same man, same car. Why is the criminal worse in one case than the other?

You are right. Hit an electric pole while huffing in front of an elementary school, and what will happen? Or drive high and rearend a poor old nurse's aid, injure her, but SHE gets fired. Destroy a poor honest woman's life and the addict still drives, has a vehicle and doesn't give two shakes about what he actually cost someone.

Why can't these ignorant people take a designated driver if they are going to a bar and KNOW they are going to be drinking? The low lifes had rather risk a wreck and killing people! I think the cops should be able to sit in parking lots of bars at closing time and start locking people up that are even planning on driving! Then everyone will cry how their rights have been violated. What about the rights of the innocent that are taken every day because of dumb ass drunks? I know of someone that is an auto insurance lady that has wrecked a FEW cars by being drunk. But this Biotch claims she hits deers and has her drunk boyfriend come pull her out of ditches all the time. One day she will get caught though. She has been reported to her boss about her stunts before and she still has her job. If she wrecks and kills someone I hope her boss goes up too. He knows what she does!

yea well it weren't that long ago when me and my cohorts thought nothin about driving with a can of beer in our fists without even seatbelts. hell, i can remember when there were no seatbelts. i'm all for busting drunk and those driving while drinking. as you get older and seen so many fine young specimens die, paralyzed, etc. foolishly you put down that can of beer and buckle up believe me. life is very very fragile. but i still say pot doesn't hinder my driving. if any thing it makes me way more careful cause i get paranoid and real cautious. i keep track of everything that moves n some things that don't like signs. you got to learn to read your signs both literally and figuratively.
