Dr. Haiderzad is not a psychologist. She is a psychiatrist. There is a difference in practice. Local psychologists are: Dr. Bridgett Hurt, Dr. Woods and Dr. Chervanek. Psychiatrist are Dr. Mirza, Dr. Salazar, Dr. Haiderzad and Dr. Khanuja. Depending on what your need is, you may want to see a psychiatrist as opposed to a psychologist. But, please understand that there is a difference in their practices and the services that they are able to provide.

Oh why so technical. Do you know these people?

If you want to see a therapist, psychologist, psychiatrist, whatever, just call the family counseling center. They will get you set up.

Well, I think "misinformed" needed to be 'technical' because a psychiatrist is about MEDICATION MANAGEMENT, and do NOT act as a therapist/counselor or psychologist. A psychologist and therapist/counselor is about hearing your issues and mental health symptoms and helping you create goals to reach in order to better cope with and reduce the symptoms and effects of the 'issues'. A psychologist can also do pschological testing, however a therapist/counselor cannot. It really is important that a person understand what they want and need. There are many places to call for help. Family Counseling Center does NOT have psychologists to do the ADHD testing, IQ tests, and many other tests that some need.

Seek Godly Counsel. Proverbs 11:14, 15:22
....and He will be called Wonderful Counselor Isaiah 9:6
To Preacher Man: I agree with your values. But I also know that a secular mental health professional can be the 'Godly counsel' for those who ask for and desire Christian counseling and guidance.

I was not trying to devalue the expertise of professional councel. I was just offering what the first poster asked for.

"Anyone know a good shrink in PB that isn't outrageously pricey??"

I offered my advice freely. I did not mean to offend.

????? My mother is a Therapist at the Family Counseling center. I have never heard her say that they dont have psychologists; however, I will ask her tomorrow just to be that much more knowledgeable.

I do hope that "funny" understands now why it is important to be "technical". The mental health field is much like the medical field. Specialites are importanat. You would not go to a dermatologist to fix your broken leg, would you?

Brandy, FCC does not have a psychologist here in PB, but may in Kennett or another location. They do, however have some wonderful therapists.

To the original poster, FCC is a good place to begin with a therapist, they can help link you to a psychiatrist in their office, if needed. Also, they are affordable. THere services are income based and they do not turn people away because they cannot pay for services.

When you allow yourself to need Jesus, you very well may not actually have to go and pay for a counselor :) Jesus is a counselor, great physician, healer, deliverer and so on. Now dont get me wrong, I dont have a problem with people going to counseling, but when you find Jesus even at rock bottom, you cant do any worse and with Him you will find light at the end of the tunnel. Well, no matter which way you choose to go, I hope and pray that whatever your situation is that it will come to a close.

All things work together for good to those that love the Lord.
God Bless :)

From working in the mental health field in this area for many years, I feel Family Couns. Ctr. is a great place to look for help if money/insurance is a big obstacle. They can provide psychotherapy but are reluctant to do so if there is not an income source to get into. They do have psychiatrists and can provide medications at little or no cost to those uninsured and without much income. I would encourage looking at other psychiatrists before Dr. Haiderzad. She's a very nice lady but I've heard many complaints about her. I would try to get assigned to Dr. Khanuja or Dr. Salazar first. If insurance (including Missouri Medicaid) is available, Kneibert Clinic seems to get the most positive feedback. They have a psychiatrist, Dr. Mirza, who seems good but is hard to get to see and two psychiatric nurse practitioners, Debbie Price and Amy Perry, who are more accessible and are supervised by Dr. Mirza. They also have psychotherapists (all Licensed Clinical Social Workers) who accept insurance and Medicaid but all this is very pricey if uninsured. Good luck.
