there use to be a few. a guy with a purple 71 nova that car beat a bunch. then his son had a deuce case u don't no what that is it's a nova, chevy II it was yellow pretty fast only one that beat the 71 nova i think. there's a guy with a demon it's pretty fast but it didn't use to be don't think it's street legal anymore. aint many racers anymore just them stupid imports. they just sound like pissed off bumble bees. i've seen some good races in my time people would come from all around to race both them novas. there's a black grand national in town a boy drives it don't know if it's fast or not it could be a sleeper

Paul ducket has several as stated before. JD Lawson has a chevelle and a Nova that both have 6 liters and twin turbos that are both abouve 750HP but niether on of those guys are ever out. I have heard that the black Grand National is pretty fast. There is a Red 96 mustang in town with a pro-charger on it thats not really all that fast. A guy at rushins towing has a nasty brown long wheel base truck that is pushing close to 500hp
There are several others but as you said no one drives and cruises anymore I miss the days of just driving aimlessly through town!!

Not all imports are pissed off bumblebees. It takes more tweaking to get an import to be fast, but dont doubt that they can be. In the end, CI wins, but depending on how far you want to go with it, an import can be amazingly fast, especially considering what they started as. I have seen skylines (2L engine) post sub 8 second ET's. I have an import that is street legal and put down 470 to the wheels (all wheel drive). I should be in the low 11's high 10's (well i would be if i hadnt lifted the heads off the block and blown the gasket lol)

I enjoy imports because they are difficult to put down big numbers with.

The "throw a fart can on it" crowd need to spend less time watching the fast and the furious, and actually learn how to work on their cars. The real import enthusiast has the same passion that the older generation had for their cars, they have just moved their love to different cars.

I do agree with pantheon. your fast and the furious wanna be will have all the bling bling on their 18 second imports and typically try their best to "look" fast to impress.
but your hardcore import guys that like to race and have legitimate import cars throw all that crap in the trash and think that a lot of that stuff is as gay as the rest of us gear heads.

HAHA, its funny you said that, i stripped the whole interior of my car and then some. Deleted useless brackets in the engine bay, AC/ heater core, spare tire, interior trim, useless wiring, pretty much everything that i could pull off that wasnt required to start or drive the thing. It looks stock from outside, besides sitting a bit lower, but if you look in the window you can see how much is really missing. It just makes it easier when you need to tap into your wiring harness when its already all hanging out there :) Plus you get the added hand room (damn japanese must build these things with midgets that can fit their hands in some of these places)

yeah pantheon I hate working on those Japanese cars because of that reason. I am 6'4" with big hands and it is hard to get to a lot of plugs on those things !!LOL

The Grand National is fast, haven't seen many beat him. Jake Wells' S-10 is crazy.

And The red mustang is a 95, and it's My Brother in law's (and sister's car) and it's procharged but that's one of the many things thats done to it, and it is fast just so you guys know...

are you the orange notch back fox-body?

Sweet cant wait to see it Justing
Yeah I do have the orange mustang but don't take what I said as Sh*% talking cause my car isn't fast at all.
as far as I knew it has a explorer motor in it with a procharger and exhaust on it at least thats what BOB told me and he helped work on it if thats the case then its quick but not fast.
My car with the turbos on it was quick but not fast. these days in order to be considered a Fast street car you need to be able to run mid to low 10's in the quarter. of course this is just my opinion. But just go to any true street or whatever the racing organization calls the 30 mile cruise and 3 back to back passes with no adjustments and you will see some damn fast street cars

pantheon i'm not big on imports, but i must say yours sounds alright. if u take time and build it to race then imports are ok. but i'll always love the old muscle cars.

the purple nova is still around not as fast as it use to be. but he also has a 64 chevy II SS 2door hardtop with a 400 small block standard bore, 305 cam, 350 bow tie heads, 202 valves, a 250 nitrous kit, and 456 posi-trac gears sitting on a full frame. i know cause i'm his daughter.

now i also know a couple of guys that would be hard to beat. one has a 86 olds cutlus with a 454 in it runs in the low 6s on street tires. the other has a 67 chevy II not street legal and he runs in the low 7s.

jake wells truck is fast but it aint got nothing on this guys.

Yeah I realize that we race 1/8 but 1/4 is the Standard. You never see the major magazines Post 1/8 mile times. Motor trend,Hot rod ,Carcraft etc.. ever heard a manufacture brag about what their car can do in the 1/8 ?? I only race the 1/8 because its whats close to home I like the extra speed and the extra fotage to run someone down. all in all though I like it all
