What does it matter what their dispatcher looks like? They sit in dispatch which is not in the public. The EMTS and Paramedics that work there are top notch, they do what they do for some of the lowest wages around (people at McD's make more than most of the EMT's) You people should look into things before you run off at the mouth about something...they do a thankless job and see the worst of the worst every day. Who cares what company they work for. Its what we have and that is what we will have. When you need an ambulance you will call and they will come. Thank you to all of the amazing people who save lifes on the street. I appriciate what you do. No matter who's name is on your uniforms.

I just think people in that sort of field should look more professional than having pink hair. I just knocked the ambulance service not the the medics or emt's just there supervisors and the one certain dispatcher that apparently you have never got graced with her presence on the phone or in person.

I completely agree with 'In the know'! You are an ass for even posting this. I have known that dispatcher for my entire life, and she's a great woman. What does it matter what she looks like? You dont have to look at her. If you needed emergency service would ask them to only send someone appealing to you?!

My father is an EMT and he comes home quite often very upset about the things he's had to see that day. It takes a great person with a big heart to do that job. You should be thankful that there are these who go out and saves lives everyday, and dont get the respect or appreciation they deserve! Shame on you for being so immature, and disrespectful!

I was talking to an employee the other day and I was told they had to go to St. Louis after running calls all day and most of the night without any sleep. Sounds to me the employees, the community, and the patients are in a bad spot.

WHat in the hell don't you not understand about what I am saying I am not slamming the emt's or medic just this one self richous hipocrit who believes she is beter than everyone else and thanks she knows more than you do and is hateful to you whenever you talk to her on phone or in person.

I have great respect for EMT's ANd medics because i am one i use to work up there two years ago.

Oh, I'm sorry, I didnt realize you are an EMT and used to work there. In that case it's ok for you to go around talking crap about other people.

Maybe you're the dipshit here. There is nothing wrong with the way she looks or acts. She a beautiful person, inside and out. For the 22+ years I've known her, I've never had 1 problem with her. She has been in that office for a very long time, and no one has yet to complain about the way she looks, or acts. Maybe she didnt like you, because you seem to act like you're in highschool, bad mouthing people behind their backs.

If have you have any complaints about the way people look or act at their place of employment, you should complain to the management or the company. Getting on here talking about it wont do you any good. You knew that, you just wanted to stir up crap.

In the long run the way an emt, paramedic, dispatcher, supervisor, nurse, patrolman, deputy, or fireman looks has no barraging on the care someone or ANYONE receives. These men and Woman put themselves out their day in and day out. It is a very THANKLESS job. They see things that people should never have to see. They do things that people should never have to do. hey out themselves out on the line. They are always their no matter what the weather is. They are always their no matter if they are feeling bad. Being able to make the difference in one persons life is all it takes for them for making it WORTH it. Being able to save just one person makes it WORTH it.

Most responders in any agency are always taught the greater good for the greater amount of people. And what that means if if you loose one person but save 5 others that you have the greater good for the greater amount of people.

I'm sorry for the original poster that seems to think superficial things are important in this line of work. A dispatcher must be strong, be able to take the call, show very little emotion while staying calm and relaying that information to her crews that are out. It is very difficult to do. I have seen MANY MANY people in this line of work that go on a elf destructive path because of some of they things they have seen or experienced. It is not a job for just anyone. It really does take a special person to do a THANKLESS job.

I want to say THANK YOU for all of the emergency responders. No matter what field for everything that you do each and every day. THANKS

I had this very dispatcher for a teacher for my emt and i must say if it would have not been for her lab assistant no one would have passed as i have heard many of the medics and emts up there say those who cant do dispatch and it was drawn directly toward her none of the other dispatchers she bite my head off plenty of times when i would go in the dispatch office just to talk to her so unless you are around her when she talks then if i where you i would but out cause apparently you don;'t know her as well as you think you do.

Naughty, I'm sure the people are really upset your piss poor attitude is no longer in the office. You may say you was attacking the service, however, you post towards this 1 individual. As far as Rural Metro being the worst service around, who responds to your area when your local services are out? Who takes your friends and family members home when the service they pay taxes to have refuses to come pick them up at he hospital? Just wondering. If you worked there you should know the answer, help us out with this one please.

this makes sense to me
Sharon is a abomination to the EMS industry, she cant teach, she sure as hell cant dispatch. listen to her on your scanner
freq is 155.28
she talks a million words a second, no way the ambulance crew can figure out where they are going.
most of the crew now put gps in thier rigs so they can find where the call is.
she needs to go.
i hope ken reads this,

A GPS? Are you to stupid to read a map? My friend tells me every ambulance has a map of the city and county. All you should need is a simple address. If you can't find the place you are going to, then maybe you shouldn't be the one driving!!! Idiot.

the city maps do not have street numbers, most of the streets in Poplar Bluff are broken up in different areas (ie. 10th St., Mill St., Apple St.,) So with GPS you are now able to type in the address and it will send you to the correct part of the street. Maps are outdated. No you are not an idiot if you use a GPS, its better technology. Also, the majority of the people that work in EMS work at many different departments and aren't from here. So the GPS speeds up response times. Do research before you make comments about someones abilities.

I dont belive having a "friend" constitutes you as someone who is able comments about people being idiots. Untill you have been in the situation of needing to get somewhere when someones life depends on it you should not make stupid remarks. The GPS units are also to help on out of town transfers to Barnes, JC, Columbia and places like that. Most newer GPS units recieve traffic updates and can notifiy the driver of road closings and traffic accidents and give detours, which is something that is much needed when you are taking someone to get emergency medical assistance.

ok me and mine, when you call for an ambulance do you want them there in a few minutes or about an hour, you can not possible read a map that well to get a freakin address from some dumb as who barely nows how to get there, and be able to find it on a city map that does not have all of the streets on it.

I have been a medic for years and If you don't have a GPS sometimes you are just screwed because alot of streets are not on the maps. I would like to see you go out there and try to findsome of the house that we have to with as little of the information we get.

ANd then have the people pissed of at you because they think you took to long to get there because they did not give you the correct directions or address that we needed to get there.

Since you have been a medic for years, your words not mine, is it safe to say it took you about an hour, your words not mine again, to get to a house prior to GPS's being available? I guess the police and fire departments are in hot water since they don't use GPS's and it takes them about an hour to get to a call. I think they get there in less than an hour, you and I both know that. I guess the police listen for gun shots and the firemen look for smoke signals.
