The Overbrook break occurred on Monday June 16 at about 10:45 pm. I am affected by the break and still have no water. At 10:45, we lost all water pressure and called WSSC. After 20 minutes on hold, when I finally got through to WSSC on the phone they indicated that there was a water main break on Overbrook and that a crew had been dispatched. The 4:30 am time in your story should probably be amended to the more accurate 10:30 pm on Monday night.

Much to my surprise I find myself affected by this situation. I live in Largo and was scheduled for a procedure at the Kaiser Kensington Clinic. Around 11:00 am yesterday, I got a call saying the procedure would have to be postponed due to the water main break. I was shocked. Now I guess I can start my apprehension all over again. At least I had not yet arrived at the clinic as others had.

Just so you know. All the restaurants in Olney appear to be complying and are all closed. However Dunkin Donuts is open. No surprise as no one who works there speaks English. Tried to contact the county bureau of licenses and got on the endless loop of recorded bureaucratic nonsense. Do not care enough to waste more of my time. Be forewarned.

The Dunkin Donuts down where I live is also a Spanglish Store. They know but a few words: "Medicaid" "Pay" "Donut" and I think "Give".

Selfish.

But I hope that WSSC gets their act together and fixes these breaks.

I called WTOP Radio and actually got on the air stating that folks with WELL WATER systems are not affected, and I'm amazed that the news reports hardly state that. Many folks don't know enough about water systems and think wells are affected too, which would only be true of wells, if any, at the break site or possibly affected by percolation downstream of the break.

I tried to tell the chinese restaurant next door to the Shady Grove Road/Crabbs Branch Way Giant Food about the water main break yesterday, but no englishee, still workee and servee risky watee. A little english goes a long way...

For what it's worth, I called the DD corparate # and let them know. This store could be operating under the radar on their own for cash. I did tell them all the national franchises are closed and mentioned illness and lawsuits. No doubt that will get someone's attention.

This country's priorities have been diverted to the GWoT. And the terrorists don't even have to come to America to destroy it. America is doing more damage to ITSELF, than any terrorist could ever do. The country's deteriorating infrastructure is its greatest enemy.

BINGO !

The Japanese are perhaps the only society that thinks AHEAD. They think in terms of quarter-centuries as opposed to this poor country's dime-sized, gimme-it-now planning mentality.

This IS NOT news.

That is the truth. "The WSSC's pipes had a record 2,129 breaks last year."

Too true. Infastructure in Washington DC the nation's capitol is failing never mind the lead pipes and lead in water. WASA has had more broken water mains for emergancy and temp. repairs than ever and yet DC officials concentration on sports stadiums without up dating DC's infastructure is questionable and needs to be addressed asap.

Remember DC floods of 1889 1942 1944 and 1945 will happen again.
