So, how does this affect the property taxes for that area? Does the show pay it? Will they go up for the whole neighborhood? What if the family decides to sell the house?Personally, I'd rather see more families just get "regular" homes, but I guess that wouldn't make much TV.

(To Resident Alien) Putting one $500,000 house in the neighborhood isn't going to escalate taxes ! Not one of the families that have received a new house on the show in the 5 years it's been on have sold it! What's a "regular home" for 15 people? As nice as this home is, it may be a little tight for all of them. The show works with the homeowners current budget, gives the family monetary gifts and pays the property taxes for 10 YEARS!!!!! They don't tell anyone THAT. This isn't about "making good TV", it's about helping a woman who is helping children! How much would your taxes go up if those 10 kids went into "the system" ?!?! This show does good for deserving people! If you want to complain about something ask where the FATHERS of these kids are!

I guess I'm confused. She is a mall security guard who was being foreclosed. I'm guessing her budget is nil. That's going to have to be one heck of a monetary gift to upkeep that place. I agree they do good, but there are A LOT of deserving people out there and i would love to see them channel all that money they pour into one residence could certainly help many families in bad situations. Please don't be so judgemental. Yes, you are confused... The county helped her GET into the house that was being foreclosed on. I went to High School with Felicia - she is doing the right thing and doing the best she can. God Bless! mcres wrote: I guess I'm confused. She is a mall security guard who was being foreclosed. I grew up and went to school with plenty of jeruselom & big woods families. I watched my father save ones life with good old station 14. These are good people. As a tax paying, war vet, red blooded american I agree with EMHE, help the house not the homeless. You down county freakin snobs!!!

I have no idea why it says I'm from DC. I'm from Poolesville. Now, we know that they will get more than a "regular" house. Making sure everybody has their own bed and boys and girls don't have to share bedrooms is not going to get a "wow" out of them for the TV show. I don't really watch the show, but I have seen enough to know that they are going to go above and beyond a "regular" house. So, what happens after 10 years? That's when stuff starts to break down, will they have the money to fix it? I just think it makes more sense to give them something within their means and give it to more people. Obviously, we don't know what's really happening in this house until the show airs. How about helping her find the fathers to get some child support? Again, it all looks good on TV, but is it really long-term assistance?

As a person who grew up and still has roots in Poolesville there is NO greater community for this family or show to have behind them... She deserves this house and really needs it...GOD BLESS HER AND HER FAMILY>>>watch the show before you judge...

My daughter and I stopped by the house today to see the progress and they are doing a really great job. The other people watching the workers were all very positive and thankful for what is being done for this courageous woman. What a blessing she is to have fulfilled a promise to her dying sister. Be grateful for what you have and reach out to others in need instead of passing along negative comments.

I was there for the reveal today and am currently watching another episode filmed in Md.They built a "castle" ,a barn and indoor riding rink for a family of 3 in Port Deposit, Md. This 4700+ square foot home IS "basic needs" for this family of 15 in Poolesville.(Resident Alien needs to WATCH the show before complaining!) Ms. Jackson was moved to tears by the outpouring of love from the community, ABC crew and especially the builder. I was disappointed that Ford didn't step up with a vehicle for the family like in past episodes. I'd like to organize a grass roots effort to get them a 15 passenger Ford van. How can we do that ???

FYI: The county will tax the property at a "Hardship Rate" which means that they will pay taxes based on the former structure. Should the family sell the house the taxes will be reassessed based on the new house. I also learned today that Ty Pennington make TWENTY MILLION DOLLARS a year !!!!!!!!!!

Resident Alien/Mcres, God forbid if anything were to ever happen to either of you! Don't place judgement and forecast how her sitation should be handled unless you have walked in her shoes. Most people have selfish tendancies, and would not dare to take on someone else's children, in addition to their own. Instead of trying to figure out how she is going to make ends meet after the fact, praise her for a job well done! Trust me, she won't hurt for anything. God has already blessed, and will continue to bless her. Character is key! Get a more positive attitude!

WTF so that stupid "B" had 10 freaking kids and they get bailed out??? I think everyone should suffer so they (the 100 kids) can realize that brining human beings into the world is not a joke when you can not afford or can barely take care of yourself. Ohhh by the way, where are all the baby daddies at?? Big surprise that "they" are not around!!!

Hey Big Al, thanks for giving them someone new to hate! I made the mistake of asking a few questions and look where it got me. Now, just how many people could Ty help with 20 Million a year?Maybe he could swing for a 15 passenger van.

Hey Resident Alien, I agree with you. Give the nice lady with the ignorant and irrisponsible sister a van so she can haul all the kids around. Also maybe for the future, they (community or show or someone) sould give the kids that actually graduate high school and don't have a criminal record a college schlorship. I would love to see how many of these kids can make it 18 years of their lives with out becoming a criminal or having a hundred kids of their own?

Big Al is OBVIOUSLY a redneck-bigot! What, she was irresponsible for DYING?!?!? She was raising the kids on her own! Then her sister steps up to keep them all together and OUT of the tax payer system, and then her husband walks. BTW, the 10 kids have ONE father and Felicia's 4 kids have ONE father. There is no line of "baby daddies" you uninformed ignoramus! I bet YOU'D leave too if you spread your seed and made 10 kids!.FYI- one of the kids IS 18 and has NO criminal record, nor kids. He actually helps out with the other kids, proving you wrong AGAIN ! This isn't costing you a thing Al, so pop another Pabst and shoot at the rats in and leave the discussion to those of us who KNOW what we're talking about!Maybe we need a new show for you- "Extreme Personality Makeover" ! You and you're hateful stereotypes don't fly anymore "Ol'boy" ! But I FINALLY agree with Resident Alien- Ty COULD have bought them a van, and gas, and college educations for ALL the kids with that kinda money!...but that's HIS decision.

I was in no way trying to dimiss the wonderful, courageous thing Felicia is doing. It is very brave of her to raise all these kids solo. I just hope abc doesn't give her something that is going to be worse for her in the long run.
