Mr. voter needs to take a tour of the Pontiac correctional center! If he thinks prison gaurds are over paid then maybe he should get a job there. We can see what he thinks about "baby-sitting" some of Illinois' worst offenders! His grammar does go to show, we should be spending more on education. Further more, closing the prison is about the economy of the whole state, not the wages of prison guards. Maybe he should gets the facts before he starts his slandering.

To Judge Roy Bean, I don't know what kind of a Judge you think you are, apparently you are not. A Judge would know the inmates of Pontiac prison are killers and rapists. The gaurds that you say eat for free are not getting paid for that 1/2 hour lunch. So that so called free lunch is costing the guards atleast $10 per day (they are not aloud to leave for lunch like most people). They are also keeping those rapist and killer off of your door step. Why don't you take a tour and see what the guards do and what they have to deal with on a daily basis. Spend the afternoon with someone who cut of his wife's head, raped a 6 year old and spits on you all day, then see how much you would pay someone else to do the job. You also called them overpaid babysitter, they are not babysitter, they keep the killers of babies in prison. What do you do for a living besides bashing good people who work for a living guarding people who have commited crimes you could not even imagine. Pontiac prison is home to the worst of the worst.

I smell a liar. Any true criminal judge would know a little more about corrections in Illinois.

Close Pontiac and let these GED guards get jobs at wal-mart. This will save millions for the state. The guards get free meals and most of them stuff their face so they don't have to eat at home. Time to stop all these free perks and besides most guards are the ones bringing in the drugs and counterband to the inmates. We can priviatize this for alot less money. and all them over-paid "babysitter" can find other jobs instead of leeching off the taxpayers....Law West of the Peco's
You have no idea what you are talking about. You think by closing Pontiac prison the state will be saving money?? How?? Closing one to open another, pay unemployment, transfer costs, updating already new prison to accomodate max prisoners, how is that saving money? On top of already over crowed inmate population and under staffed prison posses a threat to the people that work at all of the prison. These prisoner, some yes are on lock down 23 hours a day. There is a reason for this, they have done unspeakable acts and would not hesitate to kill again if given the chance and you want to transfer them to places that the guards and prison are not equiped to handle them. Come on you really think the guards are the ones in this state that are over paid?? If you really were a Judge I think you could figure out that one. It is not only about the guards of Pontiac to keep thier jobs, but the saftey and welfare of the people of Illinois(guards, citizens and inmates). Over crowed, under staffed prisons and they want to pile more prisoner in less prisons. Next you will be saying just let the prisoner go so they won't be so over crowed.

Dear Gov. Please close Pontiac Prison and get the rif raf out of my town. I cannot tell you how many people in my life time have said ( oh Pontiac dont they have a prison up in that town). Pontiac is so much more than a prison town its a great place to live and work and just feel like you belong. Yes I know what its like to have to move. Yes I have worked in this very out dated prison. Yes I do feel bad for the ones that have to relocate. But it will be OK, Pontiac will make a strong comeback. So Please Mr. Gov I,m asking you CLOSE PONTIAC PRISON SOON...........

I work at IDOC Stateville and i am shocked to hear some of these comments. I put my life on the line everyday to keep these demons locked up, so my family can be safe. The reason we get paid so much is because we put our lives on the line by dealing with these evil people. I can go to work one day and never ever return home. That means my family will suffer, and i will be gone,if my lights go out, at least, i did my service to my country, and i will be remembered as a hero not a babysitter.
It is true that we cuff them when they come out, but what about all the workers that walk the galleries and different units unrestrained.
They are not under lock and key for 23 hours a day. They are coldblooded people that have earned that privilege but they can turn on you in a heartbeat.
Lastly, call us babysitters, lazy or whatever you want, but remember we do this job to serve our country and to protect your loved ones.

Pontiac closing will create an economical meltdown for your area, so dont pray to hard, or homeowners in your area will suffer the most.

Say what you want, in the end, your opinion is yours and no one cant take your right to free speech. God bless America and the families that will have to endure a life changing event, if pontiac closes.

WAAAA....WAAAAA...I never heard so much crying in my life, explain all your benny's to the working people of ILL. free lunch, dinner, or breakfeast, plus its a all you can eat stuff your face type buffet. Your so scared about one of these demons( people) getting you. Then you need a new job or re-asignment. We walked in one control room to find the guard asleep..... now he was scared alright. Most of the guards are lazy to do there job, equaling them to overpaid babysitters. The other half are your GED folks who can barely count, you need to quit leeching off the tax payer and get a real job, at wal-mart or farm and field....but not ILL. IDOC.

most of the olders co's dont have a college education, but a majority of the new co's are college educated. It is very tough to land a job, specially, when wanting to break in to law enforcement, so college is a must.

85% of the cadets in my class at the academy were early to mid 20's

judge, were you locked up at one of our correctional centers?
again the food is crap

The food is terrible, and it is made by the inmates, so its a risk to eat it.

So don't day you do not eat it thats a lie. And no never did time except on tours I take to see and hear inmate rights violations against officers....which are many, thats why we are closing pontiac. we will save money from lawsuits pal, want higher taxes....

(A Judge would know the inmates of Pontiac prison are killers and rapists.)

Ok my husband is in Pontiac Prison and he is neither a killer or a rapist. He is there on a petty drug charge. So please all you people who dont know try to keep your judgements to yourself. As for all the CO's at Pontiac I hope you do keep your jobs because IDOC needs Pontiac to house the worse offenders and you guys have a very hard job.

These comments are funny. LOL!! Anybody who works in IDOC can tell that the two fake judges making the comments are either kids, ex-cons, or friends/family of cons. If they don't fit into that category, then they're ex-employees' holding a grudge. LOL!! What's the matter, you two get caught sleeping, sneaking in contraband, or having an affair with an inmate?

If the wife of a current inmate knows that Pontiac shouldn't close, then that should really tell you something about these anti-Pontiac clowns.
