Your thinking is maybe more accurate than mine. I thought he was taking this idea of to love and cherish in good times and bad too far. Or, you're right and she's a nutter and some guys get too carried away when they get one of them.

The husband is definitely blinded by love. Buying her story is much less painful than the truth.
