this is not true if anyone believe on this crap is so wrong !
i know Sheri for a very long time she is a very good person she even promoted me to a better position and is not fear that some one make a mistake with the "alcohol" and now someone just want to her look like a bad person.
IS really obvious that some one in the bank doesn't like her at all.
Let me tell every body something!
About that manager on Turtle Creek branch...Well that wasn't like that this manager wasn't do it a excellent roll as a manager and yes they told her so many time to aggressive her staff like everybody is showing late to work and do whatever they want.
Now in that specific branch they used to have a relation banker from Jamaica and he was FIRED because he was abusing the system even the customers doing things that he wasn't supposed do with clients....No more comments about that

The previous post sounds like it was written by an idiot. The grammar is horrible. Is this the type of employee Bank United hires?
No wonder the stockholders are left with nothing after the rape of the company by the Chairman. I sincerely hope that he is investigated for his mismanagement of the company.
I wonder if this Sheri person was one of his lovers?

There may be some validity to these allegations. But the "press release" itself is full of crap! First of all, why title it, "Obama's Scandalous BankUnited Appearance"? Could Polstenik be a Republican / disgruntled ex-employee's husband? I believe so! Simply put, on the very day that Barack Obama addressed crowds at the BankUnited Center, MANY companies were laying off employees because of the economy. BankUnited attends many events in order to reach out to the community. If employees choose to do so, they can attend these events, but are never pressured. Why would Mr. Polstenik attempt to undignify these community events? Could he have a vendetta against the company and/or Sheri Fadden? Before you believe the hype, read between the lines. I am a huge fan of "truth tellers". But when you try to wrap it up in nonsense, you make yourself look like a fool. Better luck next time!

Well about stockholder's comments well you really make me laugh....
I am agree about the grammar yes is horrible but doesn't mean that someone who doesn't know how to wright English means doesn't know what they do...
If you think in that way I am sorry but you maybe have a little issue.
And now who is more idiot at this point?
You are saying that because someone wrote that comment is the reason why Bank united stock is going down ?
Oh boy I am sorry but I think the really idiot is you...Because you are saying if this the type of employee Bank United hires?
Well I can see the person who wrote this is an immigrant, but how many banks and companies hires people from an other countries with a terrible accent, with a little of English and they are become successful?
Just please think about that
Thanks

Truth Teller is on to something. It appears Polstenik may have an ax to grind; since he doesn't expand on some of the facts. He mentions that the arrest, "according to several sources, was for DUI and drug possession." The county website doesn't mention the specific charge(s).

Postelnik appears to have a lot of time on his hands, so he could easily go to the courthouse and get a copy of arrest affidavit and police report from arresting department - both are public records documents. This way he can speak with facts and specific details (who, what, when and how) and not rely on "sources." It will greatly add to his credibility.

However, Fadden WAS arrested for a criminal traffic infraction and she IS an executive at BankUnited. In most organizations she would have been asked to resign or at least suspended until the case is adjudicated.

As far as "Annonynous'" comments: Babe, when you write the way you do, people don't take you seriously. Take the time and effort to learn English, please!

Sheri,

Understand that your IP is logged each time you post a comment from the Pompano Branch. This is also true if you ask someone else to write for you who you just promoted to manager after what was described to me as a six month vendetta/crusade to get rid of the market manager under you, possibly in order to have direct access to the accounts.

Ax to grind? I don't know you. I started investigating BankUnited after a plethora of negative press came out about a small little bank that the NYTimes, SunSentinel, Miami Herald and SFBJ would hardly see fit to devote 2,000 word exposes to.

Also, your DUI/drug possession arrest was on the PBC Sheriff's website but is no longer up, hence the link to the courts. Contrary to your assertion, neither myself nor the regular readers, none of whom have seen fit to raise any issue, have all that much time. They need to be directed to where they can easily link to.

I called you twice for comment. One time you got nasty, the other time you hung up the phone. That doesn't bother me and wouldn't cause me to write a piece about you.

That said, the story was not supposed to be about you to the extent that it was. But when I called people for comment, all they would do is go on and on about you. Many of the stories are ones I wouldn't print. I refused to print them out of journalistic integrity. Suffice it to say that you are generally loathed by 95% of people who have worked with you and they seem to have quite an ax to grind. Yet all this pales in comparison to what they told me about an internal memo going out last week advising salespeople how to deal with seniors who will not be getting their quarterly interest check. I know that you weren't the decision maker on that one. It just shows what a class act your entire organization is.

With malice toward none, and with thanks for your words of comic relief,

Yomin Postelnik

PS The more you comment on this thread, generally speaking, the higher it will rank in a google search, so by all means, keep up this insanity. It will do wonders for your bank.

PPS Having the non-English speaker who you just promoted to manager post untrue things about a grandmother won't score you any points either.

This article is obviously a fictional spin imaginatively created by a disgruntled family member of a former BankUnited employee who was terminated by an excellent and dedicated market manager who has the best interests of her company, customers and shareholders in mind.
As for the arrest record which is the only factual information in the entire article.....let those with no sins cast the first stone!!! While I do agree that driving under the influence is a poor judgment call, it has nothing to do with Ms. Fadden's ability to perform her job to the best of her ability.
Addressing the resignation of the only African American market manager in Broward County......could it be a possibility that in addition to being African American, he was also not the right guy for the job? Could it be that Ms. Fadden was simply trying to strengthen the Broward Market in the face of uncertain and very trying economic conditions? Wouldn't that be the fiscally responsible thing, to do her part to ensure that BankUnited had a future for the remaining employees (after the workforce reductions of course), the customers and the shareholders? Being in a position to initiate or facilitate a termination or reduction to staff does not bode well in popularity contests among employees. It is not ever the easy thing to do but in the long run, sometimes it is a necessary evil.
In closing I would like to address "stockholders" comments: Your post was almost of average intelligence UNTIL the last statement which I will not repeat. The irony of the situation is that you call others idiots when that comment was so slanderous, idiotic and irrelevant that you should be banned from owning stock at all for your own protection!!!!!

Wow,
The accusations are flying. Let me just state the following:

1) This is from a current employee at BankUnited.

2) Ms. Fadden truly is loathed by almost everyone and that's putting it mildly.

3) If you want to see the type of idiots and yes men she surrounds herself with.... refer to post 1.

4) Ms. Fadden asked a number of employees to sign on to this site and write anything to help her. She said to say nice things about her and to attack the author.

5) A number of us contacted Postelnik after receiving requests for information from him. He is the publisher of a Business Growth Trends mag or something of that nature and was investigating the scandal. Ms. Fadden is just one of BankUnited's problems, just the most glaring one.

6) I agree that he may have devoted too much to her and not enough to BankUnited's weird decision to keep her on and other stuff about the bank's upper management. I can go on and on about this Fadden character, how she defames managers behind their backs, how she screams and yells at managers for the fun of it, how she harassed and forced some of the best managerial staff to resign and then orders arround their underlings and so on. We all knew about her dui and drug arrest for months. The bank knew too. They just don't want to get into a fight with the likes of her. But she also isn't upper management and he should have gone after them.

7) It is interesting that he says she was writing from the Pompano branch. She said she travels to work from Palm Beach every day. I think that Lake Worth poster is her too. That post is her usual attack style.

Maybe it's time someone takes a good look at the internal running of BankUnited. It seems that maybe the employees are being taken advantage of.

Let me just say this:
I am a current emplyee of Bank United. I am very concerned about what happens with the Bank and the ones leading us, not only S. Fadden. A short story: when I was hired by the bank, many years ago, I remembered an ethics meeting where we were told: the way we act in the bank and outside of the bank is representive of who we are. When questioned about "outside of the bank" the HR employee gave us the following answer: "Imagine if the president of the bank would go to the Casino one night, get drunk and be arrested. How would it impact the bank if the next day in the Herald the headline reads:"Bank President arrested last night."? I remember that comment like it was yesterday. When I saw the picture of Ms. Fadden in the Palm Beach Post, after she was arrested I remembered the lesson I've learned at Bank United when hired. It is very sad that Ms. Fadden is working for Bank United. It says something about our upper management. In this business (banking) where trust plays an essential part, many of us have lost the trust in our bank president and other leaders from Miami. As for Ms. Fadden, I feel sorry for her. In the eyes of many of us she has lost trust and dignaty. Do the right thing Ms. Fadden, and resign. Prove to us, that you have some dignaty left. If she is as good as some say, she will have no trouble finding a job somewhere else. Let's clean the name of the Bank in the eyes of our employes. Let's start fresh and bring back that energy we onCe had. New leaders and specially: leaders we TRUST!!
Thank You.

BankUnited Gives Recently Arrested Sheri Fadden Greater Role at Pompano Branch

An in depth investigation of recent actions of BankUnited in Broward County.

By Yomin Postelnik

Pompano Beach Editor for Topix.com

There has been a lot of coverage surrounding the overexposure to mortgage transactions on the part of Washington Mutual and BankUnited. The New York Times even ran a piece on BankUnited’s overexposure, one which questioned some of their hiring practices. I found it intriguing that a national newspaper would devote its attention to a small bank that operates entirely in Florida. This and other matters led me to investigate them as well and what I found, concerning their hiring practices, is quite shocking.

In December 2007, BankUnited promoted one of their smallest and most junior market managers in the Broward/Palm Beach area to Regional Market Manager for all of Broward County. The appointee, Ms. Sheri Fadden, proceeded to engage in a series of questionable activities, which will be briefly outlined below.

However, most troubling is that on the night of June 18, 2008, Ms. Sheri Fadden, age 45, was arrested for a criminal traffic violation. According to several sources the arrest was for DUI and drug possession. Yet BankUnited not only did not see fit to take preventative action, but actually gave her more direct control of the Deerfield and Pompano Beach branches in the months following that incident.

Someone with a DUI conviction or one involving narcotics is often barred from employment in a daycare according to Florida law. One would expect the same standards from a bank. Add to that the fact that BankUnited laid off over 50% of its compliance officers on Friday and the situation may well spell disaster. Compliance officers directly oversee a bank’s compliance with federal regulations and ethical standards. Laying off half while giving additional oversight to someone recently arrested for substance abuse simply does not bode well for any corporation.

A record of Ms. Fadden’s arrest can most easily be found at http://courtcon.co.palm-beach.fl.us/pls/jiwp/... . At the time of her arrest, the information was widely available and posted on the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s office and in local media outlets.

Before writing this article, I asked several senior members of the bank for their take on the situation. Specifically:

Chairman/CEO Alfred Camner was sent an email directly with all of the details, as well as the above website documenting Ms. Fadden’s recent arrest on criminal charges. He failed to respond or to take corrective action.

President Ramiro Ortiz was also directly informed. He too failed to take action.

The same is true of Cece Ford, who handles most complaints regarding BankUnited; Melissa Gracey, Media Relations for Bank United; Susan Wright Greenfield, Investor Relations and Joe Cardenas, Regional President. Each have been individually informed of the matter and all have failed to take action.

Sheri Fadden was also asked to comment on her arrest. When reached at the Pompano Beach branch of BankUnited, her response was to hang up the phone.

Also of interest was at the time of Ms. Fadden’s appointment, BankUnited also demoted its only African-American market manager in Broward County and gave Ms. Fadden oversight of his branches. According to several employees, the manager in question was extremely well liked by clients as well as by staff. According to the same employees, Ms. Fadden forced the manager to resign from the bank a few months later. It is noteworthy in and of itself that BankUnited would have only one African-American market manager in a county as diverse as Broward. The treatment he received seems to be appalling.

Some of the other allegations are harder to prove. For example, a senior relationship banker told several employees that many of the customers who Sherri Fadden had brought in to the bank for mortgages, and who received very preferential rates, were boyfriends of Ms. Fadden. This alone would not be newsworthy, but the fact that Chairman Camner, President Ortiz, Cece Ford and Joe Cardenas have been asked to look into the issue and have refused to issue any comment on whether they have done so is very much in the public interest.

Interviews with many current and some former employees also produced other shocking information about the actions of Ms. Sheri Fadden. Among them:

• According to a former employee of BankUnited’s Turtle Creek branch, in one of Fadden’s first acts as Regional Market Manager and within two weeks of assuming her position, Fadden forced a devout Christian woman (who was also one of BankUnited’s top producing managers) to resign immediately before New Years, days after Christmas. The reason for termination was that this manager had refused to fire an employee who was making great progress in meeting his goals and in taking steps to resolve any supervisory issues. According to people who witnessed the event, Fadden was verbally abusive to the manager, going so far as to mock her collection of turtle statuettes. The manager in question is one with decades of banking experience and a stellar record.

• According to other employees, Fadden also forced a religious Jewish woman to resign an hour before the start of her Jewish sabbath. The salesperson in question had submitted her two weeks resignation because she was having problems finding an adequate nursery school for her child. Upon finding a suitable care option, the salesperson rescinded her resignation, which was accepted by her branch/market manager. Fadden refused to acknowledge the letter, a violation of BankUnited HR policy (according to a source from that department), and forced the salesperson to turn in her keys. This too was done in a harassing manner, according to witnesses of the event.

• Both of the above people are also adoptive mothers well in the process of adopting their children. BankUnited offers around $5,000 in reimbursement of adoption costs. While the second employee claims to have had no intention of applying for benefits, the fact remains that Fadden’s targeting of these two employees remains suspect.

• In the second case, the employee was also pregnant at the time and was told by Fadden that her termination was for reasons having to do with “the longer picture.”

• On the day after Fadden’s arrest, she entered one of the bank’s branches and carried on to employees about the cuts on her face, saying that they were the result of a late night biking accident. This is according to am employee of the bank who found her entire demeanor to be highly unprofessional.

• According to numerous sources, Fadden routinely harasses and verbally abuses her subordinates. These include senior bank staff and the accounts of this are plentiful.

The above are a few of the most substantiated accounts of Sheri Fadden’s reign of terror. The continued employment in a senior banking position of someone arrested for matters involving substance abuse is a far more serious issue. The issue is exacerbated when one takes into account that Sheri Fadden is often the senior employee at multiple branches, with direct control and access to funds. It is shocking that at a time when consumer confidence is low, and while BankUnited is taking steps to change public perception, that the above would be allowed to continue.

I thank the many BankUnited employees who saw fit to cooperate with the research for this piece.

I am glad I can still find the post about S. Fadden. People keep writing in here, that only means there is hope she will be soon gone. I just got a call today from a bank employee: her court date is scheduled for Thursday, Jury trial. This woman will get what she deserves. Each time I see Sheri in the branches I wonder if the upper management (the new bank) has ever logged into this page. If someone can give me the e-mail of your CEO I will be glad to send him an email.
I like the bank and feel sorry for the people that work for her. I got a "taste' of the real Sheri a few years ago when I was refinancing my home.

Waiting for that e-mail...
