I was glad to see another Mummer Band in South Fla. When I was in grade school 1968, my dad was in the Merry Mummers. They played in the Orange Bowl Parade for many years. All the ladies would make the costumes with the different colors and feathers. We also went to New Orleans to play in Mardi Gras. This brought back a lot of good memories. Keep strutting.

I saw the Mummers as a kid (1970's) on Long Island (Massapequa Park). It was a great experience and a ton of fun! I remember they were all dressed like Native Americans with colorful costumes and huge feathers--dancing and playing with everything they had! It was GREAT! I was just surfing to see if I could find a 4th of July parade with the Mummers so that my kids could see them.

Long Island Mummers from the 1970's--YOU WERE THE BEST! Every parade I got to now feels like it's missing something BIG, FUN, COLORFUL, MUSICAL and WONDERFUL!

When I was a kid, my step father, Al Mattson and I were in the greater miami marching string band. I have often wondered what happened to everyone from before the band split into to groups. If anyone is from that time reading this and would contact me, I can be reached at [email protected] At the time, the president was Bill etinger, and the other greoup was Joe Hickman. Some of the people I wnder about are the Andre boys from Hollywood, as I was from there also. I played the bells, and my step dad played the base and was music director. I now live in Vermont, and have grabd kids, so that tells you how long ago it was. About 1972.

My Pop Pop was Joe Hickman. God, I can remember all the grandure in the 80's when I was a kid. I miss it all so now that he's gone. There was nothing like watching him strut with those backpieces, all done up...his smile could light up the night!

Hell there! I used to be a Mummer while I was in High School. We used to practice at a warehouse and played in a lot of parades back around '78-'82. I was just a kid and played Baritone Sax then, but what a blast. Al Mattson was our tough leader and beatmaster with his Bass and taped fingers, but one of the greatest guys you ever met. I miss everybody from that time, it was special. Since then, in 1985, I moved to Denmark and got married and have 2 boys. And if anybody asks, no we're not gay just happy and love music.
