Abortion, unions and gay marriage are just a few examples.
All of us have to pay for Planned Parenthood and union dues whether we believe in doing so or not.
That's not pushing their beliefs on others?
Gay marriage is voted down primarily by democrats - blacks and Hispanics.
Hi Carol, how goes it?

Preaching is fine, however many Christians cross the line by trying to enact their beliefs into law.
I'm fine with some christian preaching that abortion is wrong. I'm completely against it when they try to outlaw abortion or verbally assualt women at abortion clinics
I'm fine with some christian preaching that same sex marriage is wrong. I'm completely against it when they try and deny the same rights heterosexual couples have to homosexual couples.
I'm fine with christian kids praying privately in a public school, however, I'm completely against a teacher/administrator led prayers of any religion at a public assembly.
its really quite simple
DON'T BELIEVE IN ABORTION, DON'T HAVE ONE.
DON'T BELIEVE IN SAME SEX MARRIAGE, DON'T MARRY SOMEONE OF THE SAME SEX
I see nothing wrong with that.
A christian should vote on issues and for people, that are most in line with christian values, but I agree not to force any.

Being a christian, for any reason other then one belonging to Christ, is worthless anyway.

Sorry Gtown, as I've proven - you dont find ANY sites of those of the Hindu faith saying they worship cows, since those of the Hindu faith DO NOT WORSHIP COWS - they would say no such thing.
BTW? If you think you're being cute? You're only coming off as being willfully ignorant.
But thank you for proving once and for all that you're not worth even TRYING to have anything resembling an honest discussion with.
I have a friend in Equador, that could tell you for certain that some "christians " worship mary as well.

Secularist progressive is a phrase coined by Bill O'Reilly in his book "Culture War".
It's an ideology that rejects any notion of a supreme being having any influence whatsoever in how we conduct our personal lives or a society as a whole. It advocates situational ethics, i.e. an anything goes mentality, over any standards requiring a moral compass to strive for a higher plane of existence.
Not all conservatives are against abortion and gay marriage but the majority of blacks and Hispanics in states where gay marriage was voted down voted against it. They are primarily democrats.
Well, my friend, you've done an outstanding job of convincing me!

You're a hard-core right-winger!

Although Bill O'Reilly is generally considered one of FOX News's more "considerate(and I use that term quite loosely)" pundits, the fact that you'd cite him and/or his books as a credible source to validate your claims speaks volumes. As does your earlier concerns about Obama's staff members; all those claims led straight back to hard-right websites.
By the way, have you actually read Obama's books?
I'll confess I haven't; I personally thought there was something a tad "conceited" in writing a memoir when you're not yet 50. That said, I've read Bill and Hillary's memoirs, as well as Dubya's "Decision Points."

So, do you--like Bill--believe that every year those "Progressive Liberal Secularists" are waging a war on "Christmas?"
Or do you think that those who're such vocal opponents of Nativity scenes, crosses, displays of the Ten Commandments, are simply an irritating but "loud" minority?

Nice maneuver! As I said, while the Hispanic and African American communities as a whole trend towards conservative values regarding SSM,(don't know if that holds true for abortion) the very fact that they voted Democratic--in large numbers--hardly validates your claim that, "Gay marriage is voted down primarily by democrats - blacks and Hispanics."
The statement is in and of itself only a half-truth; African-Americans and Hispanics may object of gay marriage, but since they trend to vote "Democratic" they're hardly "voting it down." Nor are Democrats the members of the electorate whom "primarily" vote it down.

Talking about saving grace is more like excitement than boasting. Similar to someone offering a cure for a disease that they, themselves, were cured of. Denial of having the disease doesn't mean offering a cure anyway is boasting, is it?
You can always say "no thanks". I'm not arguing with you about it.
Go back to posting about the "folly of non believers" you arrogant nitwit.

not just an act for an hour a week, but all week long, when I choose to walk or talk a ceetain way, it is worship. Some guys worship their girlfriends, or their cars, and if they lead a cow around everywhere they went, especialy in starving countries, then they worship the cow.
I went from believing in No god, to believing Jesus is God, becouse of my life altering experience. I was born again, and found out a few weeks later who did it, and how it was done.
I moved in with a non religious friend, the night after my salvation experience, and was lead to read a bible and go to church, by whom I call not just my God, but the one and only God.
People have faith in many things, from rabbit feet, to black squirles to give them luck and fortune, and most are usualy not offended in the least when any other is spoken of, it is when someone claims that Jesus Christ is the way to eternal life, that others will either say amen to, or become very defensive. I wonder why that is.
Yes, we've all heard that you met jesus and that he touched you. Maybe you should report that to the authorities.

Noun
The feeling or expression of reverence and adoration for a deity.

Cars, girlfriends, cows are not deity's you idiot.
Tell me Gtown, what is it you think you will accomplish by alienating pretty much everyone you're speaking to with this nonsense? Seriously?
Is it not your DUTY as a "chrisitan" to lead by example? What example do you think you set when you constantly lie and refuse to educate yourself?
We just have different definitions for worship.
I've still not willingly lied, and I truly don't know what answer you want from me, are you saying I should tell everyone else, that no matter what or who they call God, is ok?

Wrong. There are still areas where women are being treated as inferior, including equal pay. Look at the hubbub about women going into combat. And, of course, abortion.
SapphireBlue wrote:
<quoted text>
Well, see, that's just not true. Women have been equal on the playing field for a fairly long time now. A few have even made a run for the presidency and more than a few are in positions of leadership in every aspect of government. Women are respected as much as men in the medical field which didn't use to be the case decades ago. Women are just as athletic and some even more so than men in the sports arena. A few have flown into space and quite a few run big corporations.
This president wants you to believe something that is not true for no other purpose than to cause derisiveness and to create something that simply doesn't exist.
He is actually diminishing the massive strides made in women's rights over the past decades by pretending it never happened.
So the question is why would he do this? The women's movement was a hard fought victory and a thing of the past. No one has been complaining or is even complaining now. Except this president.

It's astounding; you really think I care what you believe or don't believe when it doesn't matter to me if you live or die.

Nobody lies about living in indy; there are more interesting places to lie about.

I always tell the truth here because it DOESN'T matter to me if believe it or not. As for the guy trying to find me--he DID find me, idiot. That's why I don't give out personal identifying data; dealing with one was enough.

Yeah, because guys who hate women always defend women's rights.

The fact is that you're a loathesome idiot; your gender is irrelevant.

There's nothing wrong with being gay. But no one in their right mind would want to be a dried-up douchebag like you.

He apparently thinks holy objects are the same thing as eities to be worshipped. A catholic may see a rosary blessed by the pope as a sacred object, but they don't worship it. A hindu sees a cow as a sacred object, but don't worship it.

Pray telplease explain how making abortions legal pushes a liberal agenda on everyone else....really I need to hear this

with abortion being legal, no one is forced to have an abortion....so how in your convoluted mind did you come to your conclusion that a liberal agenda is pushed on you?

Likewise, if gay marriage is legalized, how does that push a liberal agenda on you???? making it legal does not force you to enter into a same sex marriage does it???

however, making abortion illegal forces everyone to follow your religious dogma. basically you christians feel that a fertilized egg has a soul, ergo your opposition to abortion

making abortions illegal makes everyone follow your agenda

keeping same sex marriage illegal forces everyone to follow your agenda

really Dude, you really need to take a course in logic, and learn how to think....because your thinking and logic capabilities are somewhat lacking

as for planned parenthood, they provide many health services to the poor than just abortions and no ta dollars are used for abortions.

there are plenty of charities and tax dollars that go to things that I don't believe in or appreciate.

Our foreign aid to Israel is tops on my list.

and all the money that goes to evangelical institutions is another, thanks to Bush

the list goes on and on

Jesus frigging christ and his back-up band...I went to catholic schools and even they recognized that the basis of our government is secular.

Ethics have always been situational where the law is concerned; that's why we treat cold-blooded murderers differently from those who kill in self-defense. Objectively, they both did the same thing, but we judge on the SITUATION. The "moral compass" has always been a personal thing.

You do have somewhat of a valid point as the word worship had it's roots in meaning "the condition of being worthy or honored".

Let's try to clear this up for the child-like minds:

You worship your God. You worship Jesus.

Hindus do not worship cows the same way you worship your God.

Hindus do hold the cow as sacred. Understand that they do not regard it as a deity or higher power.
