What a shame, we have a super Wal-mart 10 mins away,it is absolutely filthy, you can't get up and down aisles because of the pallets and shopping carts filled with trash left everywhere and the shelves are always empty. Not to mention there are never enough registers open. I have complained to the home office, they passed it back to the manager of the store, well this manager allows it to go on. Here here we go again, another eyesore for the sake of a free fire station.

I don't care since I don't shop there anyways. The location at Copans and 95 has got to be one of the worst locations for that store. What a filthy hole in the wall.

It's like in chess: First, you strategically position your pieces and when the timing is right you strike. They're using this Wal-Mart Supercenter to syncronize their efforts and in 5 hours the countdown will be over.

(think Independence Day)

Ronnie .... all CAPS is annoying to read, kind of like your anti-Semitic, idiotic, and ill informed comments. Would you rather your local taxes go to pay for relocating a fire station so a Wal-Mart could move in? No, I think not. You’d rather Wal-Mart pay to relocate the fire station, since they are the reason it will be relocated … and upgraded, and improved. It’s called an impact fee. Wal-Mart pays their share of them in all communities. They had to repave 1 mile of Atlantic Blvd. at 441 when they opened up there 2 years ago – or does your head not travel too far out of your as* to notice things like that?

Yes, the one at copans can be kind of scary to go into. It's funny ... that one is where one could say a lot of blacks shop. The one at Atlantic and 441 is where you will find more hispanics. And the one at 441 and Sample is where you will find the annoying A-Holes that live in Coral Springs. It's about time the decrepidly old from the A1A corridor and the rednecks from the Dixie Hwy. corridor had their own store to the East side to trash.

It must be standard operating procedure for this chain of box store. The one in hallandale is a filthy rat hole and totally disgusting. They should be cited by code enforcement. The city opted to put a wallmart on this site rather than put a useless park on the inter coastal waterway. What a waste.

I have once lived in Pompano Beach for 2 years and frequented the Copans and 95 location beside the car dealership. I also haven't been to that location in 2 years yet I recall it being "crummy" also. Even the grounds around it were unkempt. I have no clue where that fire station is for the new location. 888 parking spaces plus the store sounds like a football field.

I liked the comment about the affordable housing. It's not that I agree, but it is true that a new fire station is a drop in the bucket for them. Let's see... what else could Wal-Mart do for "us" than a silly fire station in Florida of all places. How about they build a new police station in Lighthouse Point or how about something more important like a Sonic Drive-In?

Anyway... what's funny is that they are tearing something down with the notion of building something better. Although it itself, is not better when less and less people spend less and less money there and anywhere else for that matter. They think they can combat decreasing same store sales with remodels and new designs. They base the quality of a store on demographic, not so much on which one moves the most crap, or the most important crap.

I have a friend who lives in Winter Haven (central FL). There is a Wal-Mart there where the floors are the color of bronze and there is a Nathans and even a gas station. You'd have to see it for yourself. That's the Wal-Mart I want. Not some RegularTarget with two floors, a shopping cart elevator and parking on top. Well... actually all that stuff is cool but it ain't no Wal-Mart. Not even the SuperTarget at 441 and BoyntonBeachBlvd can compete with the Boynton location's Super Duperness.

So even though it appears Wal-Mart is "having its way" with Pompano, there's not much remorse over here because I am jealous of your Long John Silver's... and your blimp... oh and definitely your Hooters and the Pompano Beach Mall redux. I have been there only once and am in awe everytime I see them.

So stop complaining.
