I'm surprised not to see Carrizosa running for mayor. I would think she would be a shoe-in with "her people's" support. I see Mark Nava is running for Mayor. Personally, he's too young and unexperienced for this position, but then again Pomona is a lawlwess town, so anyone can do that job, I figure. Also, Mr. Nava would be very pro-illegal immigration and supportive of Pomona staying a sanctuary city because he, himself, is born from illegal immigrant parents. He also was was heavily involved in the March 2006 high school walkouts in Pomona, possibly even being one of the main organizers of the event, locally. He is seen being interviewed on a You Tube video talking about illegal immigrant's rights...etc. I will post that later. Not the best choice for improving Pomona's future.

Pomona has been ruined due to illegal immigration. Any mayor who wants illegals in their city is asking for trouble. Pomona needs three ICE sweeps a day.

As promised...the YouTube video showing the 2006 walkouts and a clip of Mark Nava, who is running for mayor and will definately keep pushing for Pomona's santuary city status and all the perks that go with it. Notice how he just rambles without sounding like he really knows what he's talking about.

I don't see why an illegal immigrant would come here just to commit a crime and get deported. Methinks the crime is attributed to more than one factor, though you guys could never open your narrow minds long enough to realize that.

Thetruthhurts and David, how about one of you run for mayor? You certainly seem to spend a majority of the day contemplating the local news, perhaps you could change things for the better. Do your three ICE raids a day, burn the Mexican flags, and see what happens to the crime rate.

I hope that no illegal alien is going to vote because legally they cannot vote if they do it is going to allow all mexican candidate that are running for any office. I work the elections about 5 years ago a woman informed me that her husband was a legal immigrant not a US citizen.

Me thinks that you are a wrong. Thetruthhurts made some valid points. I don't see anything racial about it. Please explain what makes him narrow-minded. If what he says wasn't true, then I can see it being narrow-minded, but drive down to Pomona and see for yourself. The proof is right there. Oh wait, I guess you are from Pomona, but only choose to see what you want.

I watched the video and that one guy that thetruthhurts mentioned, if that was him, and he wouldn't be someone I would pick for mayor. It's funny...most of those teens that were marching were most likely born here, but you can see what flag they were waving. Do we want a person for mayor that condons that?

If you noticed; all of the participants were talking about the master plan..... I read nothing about attracting new major employers or address the issues that need to discussed. The Master Plan may have some good, but for the most part its nothing more than a social plan to have the residents beg for more social goodies. Here's an example of how this seedy is really backward; Pomona Valley Hospital is expanding and they have purchased many of the surrounding houses in that good area of town to be torn down to expand the hospital.. Around the hospital is a nice area It will be gone while Barjud lives on. To end the influx of poverty from Mexico we need to start condeming old housing tracts like Barjud and Valwood, so we could attract a top notch employer like a major Health Care facility or possibly expand the county jail... If we do finally attract a major employer, there would not be a need for a master plan because many more people of this town would be self sufficient and hopefully start contributing to the betterment of Pomona.

WHITE Pomona is blind because the only person that we the outsider consider a valued candidate for the position of mayor in Pomona is that short lady (Carrizosa.) Do not let racism blind you, elect someone who can do a good job, whether he or she is white, Asian, Hispanic, black or a Martian it should not mater as long as he or she does their work correctly. As for thetruthhurts, he is probably just an Old, Fat, unemployed, racist, white guy. I am also a white guy Lol

How can one say that "Pomona has been ruined due to illegal immigration," if it was immigration along with industrialization that helped create the US? In the early 1900's there was the largest human immigration in history with the arrival of 12 million men, women, and children. Guess what they were not from Mexico. They were from Europe and Russia. Business and work was conducted in their native language, taking 2-3 generation before communities were able to speak English. The indigenous people were native to this land; it was the Homestead Act that drove them off. So before you start saying that the Mexican flag should be burned remember where you live now was once Mexico and where you came from was from immigrants. Educate yourself before opening your mouth. It should not matter what ethnicity one is. All that should matter is that they can help create a better community for our future.

I don't think there are any "Educated Latinas" around are there? They usually start popping out babies at 14 and drop out of high school. This land is now the U.S. so send your illegal alien parents back home to Mexihole you piece of ****!

Ezekial was right when he said "Do not let racism blind you, elect someone who can do a good job, whether he or she is white, Asian, Hispanic, black or a Martian it should not mater as long as he or she does their work correctly." How can anyone find fault in that statement (except for his misspelling of matter). I probably sound like a broken record at by now but Pomona needs big ideas and a real leader. None of the current or past city council members have any leadership abilities (Sorry Hunter, Rothman and Ursua). They had their chance and failed and now we need to elect a real leader with bold ideas. The Daily Bulletin was right when they said the younger crop of candidates have good ideas. At least we know that none of them are corrupted yet or beholden to any special interest groups. Find your candidate and vote but look at all the candidates first.

must not get very much current news in his little City of Everett, Washington; otherwise he would have noticed that there have been two very high profile teenage pregnant girls in the news lately that are Anglo, not Latina. One of them being the daughter of the Republican candidate for VP of this great nation. Maybe he should be more worried about what goes on in his little town or nearby Seattle rather than what is happening in Pomona, California. A city that is obviously accepting of its diverse history and culture; a city where regardless of a person's ethnicity, they are given the opportunity to be its mayor.

Thank you JMarieStevens, and all others that wrote something actually insightful and valid rather than something blatantly ignorant and racist. "Any white people running?" Wowww.
It's interesting how comments revolve around stereotypes and skin color rather than discuss what each candidate brings to the table. As another person mentioned, we should be concerned about who would make the best improvements to the city rather than who comes from what background.
And David, you must be doing some amazing achievements in your own community if you have time to spread negative comments regarding a town that probably has nothing to do with you. Do something positive with your time.

"I hope that no illegal alien is going to vote because legally they cannot vote"
hahahahahaha
"I hope that a man can't fly because physically that is impossible"
"I hope that a baby does not run for president because legally that is not possible"
