Parking @ West Covina mall isn't that full. You guys should try finding parking @ Santa Anita Mall.....

Who are they kidding, no customers complained. The West Covina Courthouse recently started charging for its parking and now a lot of people headed to court park there.

The City of West Covina no doubt pressured the mall to enforce parking restrictions on non-customers so West Covina can reap revenue for the new paid parking on its property.

Another step in squeezing the life out of the middle class.

Does anybody know if the parking spaces adjacent to the Post Office are part of Westfield's parking spaces?

There's that mentallity that somebody has to do something for commuters.People are responsible for their own commutes to work.If they are not happy about not having a free parking spot then they should move to a commuter friendly city or an area without the congestion of the San Gabriel Valley. There are other places to live and work besides that cesspool of bumper to bumper traffic in L.A. county.

They are leased to the Post Office who is one of the businesses complaining. The Post office has all their employee and customer parking taken before they open for business at 8 AM. Their parking spaces aren't vacant until 6 PM 1 hour after closing. Wouldn't you be mad?

I'll bet what's left of my paycheck that Touhey and Company will deny Foothill's request to build a parking structure. His quote regarding the minimal cost to park at City Hall says it all....

(and, btw, don't park at K-Mart either. They towed my friends car yesterday).

1. West Covina shouldn't have started charging for the Park and Riders on the top tier of the parking area. 2. Don't build the park and ride at Vincent and WC Parkway. Build it at the KMart Parking lot on the north side - plenty of space there. 3. Why isn't it being used now, anyway?

The riders should pay for parking - it's already dam cheap to ride the bus - what 2 bucks round trip maybe $3? Add another dolloar to park and I am sure the mall owners will be happy since those parking spots are probably empty anyway.

A couple more points to consider....

1. Alot of the people parking in the Mall (especially the Post Office) take the Silver Streak or other local lines, more than just the 498 riders. Touhey's parking lot will be full to the brim with all of those people - not to mention all the additional exercise they'll get walking back to the Parkway or library.

2. Even if a miracle occurs and the City Council approves Foothill's proposal, the riders will have a few YEARS to deal with the whole above-described mess....

What a horrible job presenting a story. The writer never mentioned 498 commuters were kicked out of two other park & rides or how the city just started charging for parking as a means to pick up the recession slack. Maintenance - please… someone threw up on the stairs and it stayed there till it dried up and blew away two months later. The Sears outlet lot across the street from the library is never used, that’s a perfect place for a new 498 stop but i guess the city has to recoup the cost of converting the Park & Ride to a Pay & Ride, so i guess that'll never happen. I guess going green really means gorging cash out of mass transitors and not saving the environment.
P. S. West Covina Council: You might have got 5 bucks a week from me but now that i won't be frequenting your city or any of its businesses you really lost taxes gained from when i filled up with gas. cigarettes, groceries, and appliances that i use to buy at that gaudy mall of yours - I hope others will follow my lead…

West Covina 91790 has always had issues with parking for the Foothill transit. Why does it take a media source to bring the issues of West Covina 91790 to the forefront?

There's a way around this. Just walk into the mall when it's open, pretend to buy something, walk out the other side, and catch your bus.

And if you guys think WC is bad, you should see downtown Glendora. The Parking Nazis walk up and down the street chalking tires (there's like a half hour limit in some spots, I think).

We all figured this one, and we as consumers should stand together and boycott by not shopping at Westfield and taking our shopping somewhere else, like Puente Hills. If Westfield want to continue to be friendly with the City members amidst denying Foothill riders parking, then we can do the same and stop shopping there altogether. Mayor Hernandez started this problem.

If you want to park on private property it comes @ a price. There should be NO NEGOTIATING.This is nothing but a waste of time & NO EXCEPTIONS should be made. The Westfield community is acting WELL within there rights.

I wonder how many bus riders stop in the mall after they get off work to purchase stuff. Especailly around holidays, its probably a considerable number of people. if you start charging for parking, it will leave a bad taste and they will refuse to buy there.

This mall is one step away from becoming a swapmeet like Puente hill mall...
